Sony PlayStation Console Salt Water Test and Smash

- Putting salt water into an original PS1 while it's on, and then smashing it to pieces! It had a modchip in it, as many do.
Model: Sony PlayStation SCPH-1002 console. - Розваги
Fun fact: PlayStation 1 came to Russia in 1998-1999, absolutely illegally, and ALL consoles had mod chip. You couldn't buy PS1 games legally, because there were no legal CDs those times. All games were pirated, had awful Russian translation, and you could buy a game for 50 roubles ($1.5 by the course of 2000). The console priced 2000 roubles ($66 by the course of 2000).
But today you also can buy used PS1 for 1000-1500 roubles ($15-20). With mod chip, of course. All games for PS1 you can get for free by downloading ISO from torrents and burning it on CD-R.
Thanks! I didn't know that
It wasnt their games it was our games *ussr anthem plays*
Here in Bulgaria the ps1 comes in 1998
here in chile the ps1 arrived in 1998

I remember installing a modchip in my roommate's PlayStation back in third year at university (2001).
It ended up like this one, right
I remember my mom telling me that she knew someone at work that sold and installed mod chips and that she would look into it for me. But then it never really happened since I never really pushed it much on her. This is back before we had internet here or that I was old enough to have a credit card so not like I could really google that stuff or buy it myself either. Kind of funny to look back though.
Interesting story, I was born in 2001. As for the mod chip, did you install it for your roommate as a surprise?

Why would you destroy a PlayStation in that good condition? Actually, why would you destroy one at all?
Good condition? 😂 The controller ports were faulty. Imagine getting that emotionally attached to a material possession! Sad.
@AskedSquire470 It's funny because I make a good income restoring and selling vintage/modern tech. It's the stuff that's worthless that gets smashed. Nobody would pay more than $20 for a faulty PS1.

As much as i hate to say it, this is actually a good test. Most cleaning products here have salt in them, and since they need water, you can guess where I'm going with this. Since i have pretty crazy parents, I'm pretty sure they would do it
Thats the only fun them things can provide is watching them get sorted out lol
why did bro distroy a piece of history?
Man I'd assume the controller port might have been an easy fix, I just replaced my ps2 controller ports lol
It would be an easy fix; the solder contacts would just need to be redone. But I'd rather just make a video smashing the console.
Plenty of PS1's still going for cheap aswell. I got myself a SCPH-1002 like the one in the video in pretty damn good condition for £35 a couple weeks ago. Admittedly no original box or anything but I'm not too fussed, I bought it to use it. Not worth repairing that one if it was faulty sadly

I bought 2 ps1 ( original model ) for 20$ CDN ( canadian dollar), its working well for reading games, but one of my ps1 can't read memory cards, its sad but for me i only play sports game on it. Don't need any game saving
Was it modded?I got a PS2 Fat,SCPH-39004,at a thrift store here, for 35€(i live in Portugal),completely unmodded, the warranty sticker wasn't even void...But after 2 months with it,i just decided to open it and give it a good clean, because, man, that thing was filthy.
