F5 Fault code. F5 is number 1 and 3 LEDs flashing and indicates, according to the manual your machine has a blocked filter. The reality is it may not be a blocked filter at all, as was the case with my machine. the filter was always perfect and rinsed out regularly. And it may not be any faulty components either - as was the case for my machine. The trigger for the code is a lack of pressure change at the low pressure switch. The low pressure switch is mounted on the side of the machine frame and connected to the wash chamber by a long rubber tube. After turning on, the machine goes through a drain cycle pumping out any water/fluid that might be in the wash chamber before starting the initial fill. Then the drain pump stops and the solenoid opens to allow the machine to fill. My machine would drain, fill and then stop with LEDs 1 and 3 flashing. I could reset the machine and it would do the start up perfectly as above and get to the same point and stop. I removed the high pressure switch and low pressure switch and both were working fine. I applied air pressure to them and the electrical contacts closed. I put it back together and it still would not get beyond the end of the initial fill stage. There is one hell of a lot of unhelpful advice out there ! I wasted many, many hours. On one site someone stated that they had observed the fitter remove the pressure switch and blow into the tube before charging him for a new switch. I pulled the pipe off the low pressure switch and did the same. The machine now works perfectly. Obviously there was something modest blocking up the pipe. The machine had not been used for a couple of months before the failure so something must dried out and blocked the pipe. The pipe just traps a column of air. As the water level in the chamber rises, so it compresses the air trapped in the pipe. This very small change in pressure causes the switch to throw and informs the control system the wash chamber is now full to a suitable level. Doing the final repair, removing the pipe and blowing into it and then refiting it took me 3 minutes. F5 on the Hotpoint Indesit maintenance system is rarely mentioned and although I visited around 50 sites, the minority that did mention it all just referred to blocked filters. At one site a fitter advised that it could be a faulty pressure switch but did not help by advising which switch and how to identify it - so that is why I ended up testing both. how-2-repair.com do great videos but in the other video detailing all the fault codes they simply waltz passed the F5 and ignored the guy asking the question in the comments - what is it. So I am going to post up this comment in a couple of other places as well, so no one else has to waste quite as much of their life as me finding out they don't need to pay a fitter £70 call out for a new pressure switch when the fix is so easy.
Based on my experience today when there appears to be a partly blocked F05 senario. Don't know if it was slow drainage pipe (rather than blocked) and or a blockage of pipe to from pressure sensor but short period of sodium carbonate soak did not help but a long 2+ hour period has. Apparently the affected Indesit IDF125 needed a loak soak to remove the gunk causings its F05 problem.
Thanks for taking the time to post this. Sadly for me I came across this to late, spent all day on mine, got fed up and ordered a new dish washer, at least I have spares now 👍🍻
You are a life saver.... What a great person. I tried it and it worked perfectly. Thank you for helping others and righting this whole thing up. Scrolling through those tech support forums and seeing useless "just look at the manual replies" was so annoying.
Do you have photos or know where I can find out what a low pressure switch or high pressure switch looks like? All I can see is a water in and drain pipe out.
It took me 1 week, at least a hundred google searches and youtube videos and several dis- and reassembles of my dishwasher to find this comment. I spent 60 bucks because I already ordered a new drain pump, and I was almost ready to buy a new dishwasher. I was so frustrated... Thank you so much. I gotta say, the fact that the F05 Error is so hidden or just straight up misleadingly described online, almost everywhere, should be considered a crime. Again, thank you so much, Michael Evans.
Might seem obvious to others but it just solved my issue. Had someone out recently who pulled out our dishwasher and when they put it back the clean water pipe got kinked and stopped drawing through water causing it to give lights 1 and 3 error. When I pulled the dishwasher out and no kinks ran fine so just taped pipe the wall to remove any risk of kinks and now runs perfectly.
Great video. Definitely feel more confident getting to grips with my dishwasher. Just to confirm, I have an IDF125, and the LED layout is slightly different, with 3 in a row, them another up and to the right. I'm assuming the lone light is 4. In this case, I'm getting an F13 circuit board fault. I've opened it up and had a look, and there is no sign of disconnections, corrosion or obvious issues with the board. The machine runs an initial cycle, and the error code comes on as it expels the first batch of used water, which (I left it in a bucket) runs freely out of the waste pipe (though I did notice it was cold. I don't know if this is normal for the first cycle). I'm probably going to buy a new board, but any advice would be appreciated.
I repaired F05, please check the pressure switch and the inlet valve filter together. at the beginning I blowed the soft pipe on the pressure switch, and I confirmed that it works well, the alarm didn't disappear. also I cleaned the filter near the inlet valve, and then I found that filter was pushed too deep, it will press a rubber gasket behind and finally reduce the water flow because this wrong deep installation, so I pull out the plastic filter a little bit, the inlet flow immediately become stronger and faster, the alarm F05 also disappeared successfully.
Thank you for this video. I had fault F04 on Ariston LSE 610, it was thermostat, bought another one and know it's fixed. Thank you! Thermostat code C00041086, spare code 178260, 275489, 041086, NC78C. Cheers!

Hi, my Indesit DSRL17B19 slimline freestanding dishwasher is stopping mid-wash before dropping the tablet (on eco), it stops with the play/pause light amber and the salt light blinking red rapidly.
The salt is topped up fully, as is the rinse aid. It seems to drain properly as after this fault the unit is not full of water (and neither is the bottom bit with the filters).
Unlike other larger dishwashers, this one has few LEDs for error codes.

That is fault code F05.
Check if cleaning the filter helps.
If not read the comment of Michael Evans.
what about the 05 code? can you identify this one?
Yeah me to, got a F5 (Not F05) error on the front of my Indesit DFP 584 model
