When I was 15 or so, I had a 19" set like that. I think it was a Mad man Muntz! Anyway, it introduced me to the magical world of High Voltage when I brushed against that metal CRT. TINGLY!!!! Yep.... been repairing Radios and TV's ever since!
My Dumont RA-108 Mansfield had a 19AP4 CRT. Was certainly nerve wracking to work on. Could feel the HV if you got too close to it and the hairs on your arm would stand up!! I luckily never got hit by mine. ⚡️ Tough CRT to find. Glad that one tests good. 👍🏻
Great job with that horizontal linearity coil! I would love to see you restore the Magnavox CT-214 that we caught a glimpse of. I just restored one and it came out great. I am also working on my second CT-220 which is part of their Magnavox Embassy console with a very nice 15” woofer and two directional midrange/tweeters.
The owner of the set contacted me last year about restoring it. He said it worked until he moved. I’m guessing that linearity coil broke during the move.
@@bandersentv my main work has been antique radios and tube hi-fi. I did start a ge 12t7 and had picture but no sound (just a buzz). Also trash picked a n RCA ctc25 that I got working partially. Had to shelve them because I got flooded with work.
@@bandersentv sorry, I do not. He might be a member of the Michigan antique radio club but I have not been able to get to a swap meet for almost two years now.
Mylar would work well as HV insulation. The jacket around the CRT is probably PVC but Mylar has even better electrical performance- and it won't degrade.

It appeared as if the account had been registered with a photo. It was wonderful.👍
Broken dial cords are everyone's nightmare.
I like that go big or go home, I have the same shirt you’re wearing. Enjoy your channel.
Glad you tried with a toroid coil first and then fixed the orig coil great catch and glad it was a simple fix. Love this channel thanks bob.

It's a model MV-10B. I believe their very first set. Can't get to it until next year

@@craigbrown7929 Curious. I'm getting no reception at all so seems there are other problems.

is amazing how metal cone crt still has vacuum
That CRT is probably from a line that used to make radar tubes.
RCA developed metal crts for TV use to reduce cost and weight
Hopefully those fm coils on the radio chassis won't give you a hard time and be full of silver mica disease. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.
It doesn't surprise me that people are still playing with real Magic
Bob, where did this come from? I had a guy in Indiana contact me last year with a capehart tv/radio that he was looking to get restored.
Indiana. Probably same guy
@@bandersentv I mentioned you to him saying you do a lot tv’s and you might be closer (I’m north of Detroit).
Do you know Dan Jones? He's another vintage TV restorer in the Detroit area.

Just to check, is there glass underneath the metal cone?
Nope. They used metal to lower cost and reduce weight.

I'm sure you are correct but will not be putting it to the test 🙂
Mylar does degrade in heat.
@@thomashowe855 Yes but it takes a lot of heat.
Wow! Mad skills....
