Cats are my favorite animal. That's why I named my channel Kitty Kat the 927 part was just random. Will I thought untell I looked around and found it a used name I'll well about that to late to change my name I already my 12 intros and all of my solcol meada to it and I don't want to change my channel name not just cuz of those facts but I don't want to change it that find out someone else already had it just like my channel name
You're right about old tube equipment coming back to life. Many years ago I bought an old Atwater-Kent radio from a gas station and when I turned it on it didn't work. I left it running and a day or two later it suddenly came back to life which surprised the heck out of me because I forgot it was still on. I watched the whole video and enjoyed seeing the transformation.
I had an elderly neighbor with a TV that would not power on. I took it to my place hoping it might just be a fuse but when I removed the back cover all the circuit cards were coated in brown nicotine wax. I told him there was nothing I could do. Some techs have reported opening a back cover and having cockroaches run all over the place. I can understand why you do all of your repairs outside. I do enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing.
My dad used to have a set like that in his bedroom. I remember the phono switch (no phono attached! of course). Never thought I'd see another one. And yes I watched the whole thing. Your troubleshooting videos are always interesting. Please keep doing them, the longer the better.
For me his demonstrates and helps me appreciate the honorable spirit of light hearted determination. The end benefit is knowledge optimization, knowledge sharing and a sense of accomplishment. I salute you sir!
I watched 76:40 of the video. The fact you got this thing working from the sorry state it was in would blow away any TV technician. From a rat latrine to a working TV after all those decades. Amazing. I am one that won't be watching the debates. We're screwed either way. If there was a "watch the paint dry channel" I'd be tuning in to watch that coat of glossy latex dry. However, I'll tune in to your channel to watch the EOL's. Thanks for your work on the video, it was enjoyable!
If someone ever makes a movie of the fallout games, you would be the right guy to go for props with all these sets. I believe, but not sure, that the flyback tester detected a DC short because it was built with the idea in mind that later flybacks usually have the rectifier diode built in and potted within them.
From finding it to getting it going super cool please keep it up. I cant help but feel since the tuner is shot patch in a video in line and have it running 1955 and 60s tv clips as a post epoc novelty!
Great repair video Shango. You're the best thing that's happened to U-Tube. Also great camera work, I know it's not easy holding the camera, and working at the same time. Keep the videos rolling, we love you man.
I always watch your films, from start to finish. It takes me back to when I was 9 or so and hung around a TV shoppe, which is where I began to learn...
I thoroughly enjoyed it. You never cease to amaze me with your technical know how and overall accurate intuition when it comes to sniffing out a problem. Love this stuff.
To the cap testing part, I heard the vertical running when you were talking about It. was waiting for sparks ⚡️ when you were about to clip onto the cap
That has got to be the shonkiest bit of kit anyone anywhere has ever brought back from the dead! Well, apart from that other TV you got from the Mine dude! Haha! Good work, can't believe you got it going!
Great video and YES, I watched the entire thing. Amazing what some folks can do to get these old sets working and I really enjoyed this. Heck, you got it working so well I'd keep it.
Kudo on breathing life into that set. I did a Colour TV servicing course in the early 90,s and its a long forgotten memory as life got in the way. Its rekindling my fascination with these machines. A real marvel of engineering. For me it was PAL but be it PAL or NTSC or SECAM the wonderment is the same Your presentations are amazing and so much can be learned provided i concentrate, never assume i already “know” and do some follow up reading. What you do is appreciated and thoroughly entertaining. All da best
great video and commentary on what you are doing . you are amazing and you can fix anything .and you always give good explanation on what you have done and what you are going to do . you have a great sense of humor and I learn a great deal and look forward to more of your great videos in the future all the best
My grandfather had the same TV with the optional wood base that had an 8" speaker. Our family inherited the set when it was four years old. Two years later the set died due to a crack that developed in one of the PC boards. My dad was not going to spend any more money to have it repaired. It was replaces by a '61 DuMont TV.
Contrary to what you said, I watched it end to end and enjoyed it very much. If you weren't living so far from me, and transport wouldn't be so horribly expensive, I would ask to adopt this set. I think it deserves a second life after what it went through :)
Thanks for the long video! I watch them until the end, every one of them. Every time you post a video fixing more of this old equipment, I want to get my halicrafters radio out of its bin and try getting it working. I even got myself two vintage variacs. Not specifically for the radio, but because variacs are loads of fun.
What a great video, love the old tv sets reminds me of when i used to bring old sets home from the dump when we lived in canada, sadly back in the uk now we dont have cool tv's like that! Keep up the great work
Listened to your vid during work. love this one. a rat feces filled old antiqe rusty tv set. and the picture looks really good, regarding the age and wear.
ah man love it when people can get old stuff working again especially tube set knowledge like that is a long lost talent and tubes fascinate me I have a few old radio and amp sets I want to get going again thanks for the cool factor of even seeing a picture on that thing :)
Wow :) If you can get such a TV up and running again from what looked like an ancient pile of mess.. You're an electronics master. Put this video in your resume and you're good to go wherever you want :D
Well, I watched more than your average 8 mins. Personally (as a new subscriber as of yesterday, courtesy of the exploration vid where you found this and the portable) I find the shorter video format is probably good for your general repairs/lookovers but something this bad and with a back story like it has, it 100% justifies a more in-depth video like you've done. it was nice to share the journey of it slowly coming back to life, old cars can be like that too sometimes when they've stood. Bit by bit more stuff starts to work as it should... Thanks for posting and an early happy new year to you and yours, Dan
Cool 😎 thanks for telling me to watch the last 15 minutes of this video, the CRT turned out fine after all. I still love ❤️ your cat 🐱. Also I love your really long videos, longer the better. 👍🏻😘
This is your best video yet! I damn near pissed my self laughing! Seriously thou you worked a miracle on this one. Keep up the good work. Love the repair videos and the resurrection videos there seriously entertaining and as a side effect I learn a trick here and there that helps me work on stuff. Keep it up man👍🏻
That... was awesome. And yes, I did watch the entire thing. I had slightly higher hopes for it's outcome since the tube tested so good initially, and that green clock radio you found out there turned out as well as it did. Oh well, at least it is watchable. Plus, you've come up with new artform: solder splatter painting!
Amazing to see something so worn out come to life. I've never restored an old TV, just radios, but a TV would be cool to do. Great taste in music by the way! I love that song!
Watched it front to back. Love the long play videos, keep them coming!Looking forward to seeing the crusty Philco Ford burn it's ghosts out, and come back to life.
totally awesome, love your videos, im a shangoholic, I really like old radios and tvs, in the nowaday throwaway world we all should pause for a moment ,, just one moment and reflect on the golden ages...
Well, it seems that set had a lot of work done to it before it died the first time(s). It's amazing that it came back to life but it seems that even with as much abuse as it had it still had some life left in it. I enjoyed every minute of this video!
I was probably one of the rare ones to watch this, not only did i watch the whole video, and repeated a few sections. I found it interesting. I found this video, via links from the first one, my interest being Urbex and exploring abandoned places. If i had been in the position of shango066 and acquired this TV, having restored many vintage radio's and old radio ham equipment. After verifying the basics were good, ie PSU and line stages. I would have done a good strip down, clean, and replace obvious bodges first. Iv'e learned that by doing a slow, methodical clean, you discover other things that you would spend many hours hunting and fault tracing for. Its a shame that you wont fully restore this TV set, simply because it would show to others, by methodical work, something like this can be brought back to its former glory. You got it as DOA, you nursed it through intensive care and moved it into the day ward, now help it back onto the street..:) Thank you for the great video..!
I remember watching the first men on the moon bounce around on a set just like that one and it was an old set in the playroom then. It had a metal case and dark fake wood-like look ,thanks for the video . B
Love watching your videos Shango I am subscribed to your channel for life thanks for keeping me entertained and thanks for entertaining everybody how could you make this TV work I'm sure it was terrible for you with all the rat droppings ha ha ha ha ha ha this makes me laugh sorry I'm not laughing at you just the thing you have to put up with the old TV love watching your video
I found your channel only a few months ago and I'm slowly going through your videos. Let me tell you that I greatly appreciate them being so long. Most trendy channels nowadays go for the 10-20 min length to maximize the views, because as you noticed the average attention span is only so long. That way a 1-2 hour long repair turns into 3-6 videos released once every 1-2 weeks to rake in all the views and maximize profits. It's quite frustrating, I find myself forgetting what was showed 1 month earlier on a long repair, and in the end I don't enjoy it as much.
I have watched this video at least three times. I always enjoy your resurrection videos and learn a lot from them. I am looking for a 1956 RCA Headliner TV similar to this one in your video. We had one when I was a kid in 1959. I think the model we had may have been a 21T6082. I never see those sets surface here in Wisconsin. Gary
I watched the whole thing and I'm glad I did. To see that set claw its way back to life was nothing short of amazing.
Same I watched the whole thing
uxwbill WOW uxwbill is here :D I like when great youtubers leave comments on other channels!!! :D
lol who???
Who?@ Evan Stevens..... uxwbill is a legend on UA-cam!
JD2308 !! Kong
"After you set up for 45 years you'd need a full alignment too"
"I assure you I do not have wood right now"
I love these resurrection videos.
Nice kitty cat. Love cats.
i fought the urge to pet my screen lol.

"Rat crap goes in before the picture goes out".
Old TV repair and a rat scat movie for the coprophiles out there too. Man you have more patience and a stronger stomach than I.
The fact that you made this disaster of a heap into a working set is nothing short of amazing. You sir are the vintage TV whisperer.
Oh trust me, I watch the entire video. I have been watching this from beginning to end.
You're right about old tube equipment coming back to life. Many years ago I bought an old Atwater-Kent radio from a gas station and when I turned it on it didn't work. I left it running and a day or two later it suddenly came back to life which surprised the heck out of me because I forgot it was still on. Make a video about the radio!
When I was a kid our Muntz would crap out to the point of knowing our repairman as sort of a wizard uncle. You sir fall squarely into that category.
I had an elderly neighbor with a TV that would not power on. I took it to my place hoping it might just be a fuse but when I removed the back cover all the circuit cards were coated in brown nicotine wax. I told him there was nothing I could do. At 26:25 the term you're looking for is "coprophiliah"
Dude....that was amazing. Love your dry humor.
Great video Shango. Enjoyed every minute of it. Love these TV resurrections.
I watched the entire video, I found it very interesting very cool and surprised you actually got that working.
For me his demonstrates and helps me appreciate the honorable spirit of light hearted determination. The end benefit is knowledge optimization, knowledge sharing and a sense of accomplishment. I salute you sir!
I watch this video all the way to the end. Very entertaining. Thanks for posting. Keep posting long videos. I will watch them.

I watched both videos. I absolutely love these TV resurrection videos. Keep them coming! Thank you!!
A long video perhaps, but well worth the time to watch it all. Thank you for making it. Regards, Dave
About caps' shielding. The indicator stripe is not always correct. You may find caps with a stripe on the wrong side.
If someone ever makes a movie of the fallout games, you would be the right guy to go for props with all these sets.
I believe, but not sure, that the flyback tester detected a DC short because it was built with the idea in mind that later flybacks usually have the rectifier diode built in and potted within them.
I'm glad you are going to post your videos on certain days. I really enjoy your videos. I watched the whole thing.

Dear shango066 you have done an excellent job bring back to life, and yes I watched the the enrire video, really enjoyed it, nice job.
Hello from France, I like so much the way you do things with all theses olds set. It's so instructive.
To the cap testing part, I heard the vertical running when you were talking about It. was waiting for sparks ⚡️ when you were about to clip onto the cap
I missed the ball drop for 2018 because I watched all of it. definitely worth it. good video thank you.
That has got to be the shonkiest bit of kit anyone anywhere has ever brought back from the dead! Well, apart from that other TV you got from the Mine dude! Haha! Good work, can't believe you got it going!
I watched the whole thing as well. It was so satisfying to see the revival. Keep up the great work!
I have a good reason for reconsidering my position on miracles after this video. Great job on bringing that old rotten tv back to life. Nice cat btw.
i liked the whole video, not at all boring.. Thank You
Great video and YES, I watched the entire thing. Amazing what some folks can do to get these old sets working and I really enjoyed this. Heck, you got it working so well I'd keep it.

Why use a solder sucker when you have a compressor :)
Watched the whole video ... great work!

Third time watching whole Video, lots to learn from it, may need to watch it again sometime. Good Job!

Very impressed by your knowledge on the old TV sets Wow

I love seeing these resurrection video's used to do a few repairs in the late 70's in my teens and you sure make it look easy :)
Awesome, I found a near mint RCA 630-TS a few years back. Had some internal work done but is immaculate on the outside
That... was awesome. And yes, I did watch the entire thing. I had slightly higher hopes for it's outcome since the tube tested so good initially, and that green clock radio you found out there turned out as well as it did. Oh well, at least it is watchable. Sweet I learned a new desoldering method LOL. I enjoyed this video very helpful
Awesome cat! Great video Shango
Shangos videos never disappoint...and man this guys has every piece of TV testing equipment possible!
Takes me a while to wake up and become functional. Like every day. Watched all through.
I have watched all of your videos all the way through (the repair ones anyway), and they are all fascinating! 😀
I love how you tinkering old tvs one of my favorite hobbies and other old stuff
Watched it front to back. Love the long play videos, keep them coming!Looking forward to seeing the crusty Philco Ford burn it's ghosts out, and come back to life.

Great Video, I watched the whole thing!!!
As an engineer since 1966 i just love these old sets. I am in the UK and there are very few valve TV's left here
Nice job! Rebel in me loved the air blow to the melted crusty.
Thanks, returning back such a TV to life is amazing. How robust the electronic components could be.
Well, it seems that set had a lot of work done to it before it died the first time(s). It's amazing that it came back to life but it seems that even with as much abuse as it had it still had some life left in it. I enjoyed every minute of this video!
the jump from the crt discharge thru you is indeed the hazard
beautiful!!! thanks for opening a a last time that old window !

I thought the old Montgomery Ward console receiver I have is bad, this tv takes the cake!
I took the bottom of a valve radio the other day.It had a 2 inch beehive attached to one of the capacitors. Change some of the caps. And working good
It is hard to believe you made that TV work. NICE!!
Love watching your videos Shango I am subscribed to your channel for life thanks for keeping me entertained and thanks for entertaining everybody how could you make this TV work I'm sure it was terrible for you with all the rat droppings ha ha ha ha ha ha this makes me laugh sorry I'm not laughing at you just the thing you have to put up with the old TV love watching your video
good video watched the entire thing,, after the journey would hate to see this one EOL it's a tough old bird for sure
I'm new to your channel and I really enjoyed watching you fault find in this old set.
I found your channel only a few months ago and I'm slowly going through your videos. Let me tell you that I greatly appreciate them being so long.

Thank you the video was very interesting , i watch till the end
The tuner may have been fried by one of those devices that promised to turn your house wiring into a giant TV antenna!
Gary
