This is the mall I grew up going to as a kid in the 90s and 2000s. I remember the food court area had a cool water feature, along with a Time Out arcade where I spent way too many quarters. They also had one of the few Seseme Street children's stores in existence. I also remember the Gamestop was in the food court and had the old school logo. I saw the Sega Saturn there for the first time and knew that I wanted one (I ended up getting an N64 after playing Mario 64 and Goldeneye). My family spent a lot of time at Sears as it served as a one-stop shop for everything from clothing, electronics, appliances, etc. I remember thinking to myself: when I get a job and have my own place, I'll get all my stuff at Sears (again, that never happened).
I've been in california for 11 years which is almost all of my life and moreno valley was the first city I lived in. That mall was my childhood go to place and it still is- The beaming hot sun and the relief of feeling the cold air once you walked in, the vending machines, the escalators, the little animal rides, the food courts, the massage chairs, I'm a teen but I feel like I've lived over 80 years when I hear about this place. I remember playing in the little play area for toddlers and hiding under the equipment. The exictement of going into the big play area near one of the entrances! I remember getting my first scooter there and riding circles around outside of the mall. Tbh the friends I made in the toddler play area are>>>>>>>>>>>> I wish I could meet them again 😭🙌
I worked at the Sears 93-96, there was some vacant stores but not a bunch, malls still had a few years left in them. It was usually fairly busy all year round and a madhouse during Xmas. Sears and Walmart at the time were more or less still neck and neck but that didn't last. Besides the general malaise malls ran into, Homart Development(a subsidiary of Sears) dumped the mall and it kinda went aimless after that for a good number of years. Maybe the property will eventually redeem itself with the new plans, should they proceed... But I cling to the idea that the Raceway, if they kept up with the times and made it an attraction would have a better asset for the city. Someplace to bring people and their money in...

I remember this mall😊 Last time I was there it didn't look like it was doing so well. Sad to see malls dwindle but at least the memories live on

Where the theater was built was supposed to be the pad for a Bullock’s, but federated aborted that when they bought the Broadway.

This mall has always sucked. Needs better retailers. H&M, Old Navy, Cotton On, Pacsun, Zara, UO etc.
