One of my favorites. Hard to find in Northern Illinois where I live, so I pick it up anytime I run into at a reasonable price. I have bought 4 bottles near me this year for $45 each, and I bought one in TN for $55. I’ll take it over Blanton’s any day. 🥃
I actually just picked up another single barrel. A new one. The one with the green label. I walked into Trevor's Liquor here in Phoenix and they had one behind the counter. I'm looking forward to trying it. Cheers.
Thanks for the video I actually have this bottle it is a special edition bottle. Bought in Chicago by my brother in law as a gift. I love the the taste of the bourbon. Your review was excellent 😊
This is a good Fruity Bourbon. Well balanced. I have seen People buy 2 bottles at a time. Everyone I ask about it says they really appreciate it. 🥃 I live in Sparks, NV. It is available everywhere for Retail price. $52 All 3 Bottles are released.
@@whiskeyisajourney I just got this Last night. (BARRELL Foundation 5 Aged Years.100 Proof) It is the first time release from them under $80 dollars. It's surprised me. Joyful sipper. I hope you get it soon. Happy holidays. Cheer's 🥃
I just purchased this in an allocated sale in Alabama. I have the Port finished version as well. They're both delicious. I believe they could easily be a Buffalo Trace mash. Your review is spot on.
Nice review! I have a couple of bottles of the single barrel and one that’s port finished. I paid 40.00 for the port and 27.00 for the single barrels. I think it’s a nice pour and it’s an all you want on the shelf here in California.
Picked up 4 last time in VA only kept one so need another road trip to restock. It is a delicious $55 bottle. Wish the Bowman Cask Strength was more available
I'm very happy with my bottle. I have it in a blind sample up against Blanton's. It'll be interesting to see which one comes out on top. I think it will outshine Blanton's.
Was wondering, does it state triple distilled on the bottle? I had their small batch. Great nose on it, but a bit young. Probably good to use for mixed drinks.
I have only seen this bottling on a total wine store shelf twice in 5 years. The port barrel shows up a lot but not the single barrel. I have one bottle and a store pick. I’m saving them for special occasions but now may crack them open and see if I get the same flavors.
I have only seen the Port and the Small batch at Total Wine. Both single barrel bottles I have I got from smaller local liquor stores. I have this older label one and a new green label bottle that I just picked up from Trevor's liquor. They are both good. Not sure if I can tell the difference between the two.
I like the Bowman a lot. I've seen at least three times on the shelf at Total Wine in the last year in Seattle. To me it tastes like a richer Blanton's. I get the same blueberry muffin note. That said, tasted blind it's was really hard to tell them apart, but (swear to god) JTS Brown crushed both.
Peter, if u can give recommendations on drinking patterns, while having many bottles. You just pick up off of the shelf on a whim or put bottles to rotation?
Right now I pick a theme of five whiskeys and do a blind flight. I've been doing that for a while now. I don't really have anything in a normal rotation due to the nature of running a UA-cam channel. I'm always tasting what's going to be coming up in the next video?
That's the beauty of it...try it anyway you want. My suggestion is to add a drop of water at a time and taste as you go. As far as ice goes... every whisk(e)y reacts to the water differently so you just need to test it out. There is no right or wrong way to drink. It's your whisk(e)y. Drink it the way you want to. Cheers!

I have this in my blind samples going up against Blanton's. I feel like it's going to crush Blanton's in the blind.
I really like the Bowman products. All three are good.

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback. I was pleasantly surprised how this tasted on its own without any other bourbon influences.
This is a good Fruity Bourbon.

I'm very happy with this bottle. It'll be interesting to see if I ever see another one. Rest assured, if I see it I'm going to buy it.

Barrell Craft Spirits sent me a bottle. It surprised me as well. Nice sipper for a 5 year 100 proofer.

Thank you. I see the port finish bottle all the time. I am thinking of picking it up. Cheers!

Distribution always baffles me. Something very difficult to find in one state is a normal everyday on the shelf product. It makes no sense to me. 🤔
Sorry forgot to add that Total Wine has John J Bowman small batch. Have not tried it yet but interested to see if taste are similar
I see it there as well.
Picked up 4 last time in VA only kept one so need another road trip to restock.
It is a delicious $55 bottle.
Wish the Bowman Cask Strength was more available
They make a Cask Strength? Oh man that sounds like it would be fantastic!
I have 6 JJ Bowman. 2 of them green label, 65 to 80 usd. I do love this bottle.

@@whiskeyisajourney in my humble opinion, Blanton's is severely overappriciated.
I agree.

It only says copper distilled on the bottle. Nothing about triple distilled.

I have not had the JTS Brown. I'll keep an eye out for it. I don't think it's carried in my area.
I have had a couple from Bowman. I thought their Port finish was a great value. I will keep my eyes open for this one.
The port finished is on the shelf all the time. Maybe I'll pick it up and give it a try.
I blinded this against Blantons. Liked this a little more.
I'll do the same eventually. I've got it in my blind samples.
Once I finish off the remaining couple pours of my Bowman single barrel I am fairly certain I will not be able to replace it.
I believe I am in same situation as you are.
You never know.

@whiskeyisajourney thank you. Have you considered doing a flight of the same manufacturer? For example, Calumet 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16 years old?
I do that when I do my Frist Friday Flight Fights. Calumet was done a few months ago. If you look at my channel playlist I have 12 videos like that.
I'm a sipping noob. Only been having it neat. I have no idea when or what bourbons to add water(and how much) or when to pour it over a big rock.
