Adrienne Spinozzi, research assistant, American Decorative Arts, The Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Metropolitan Museum's collection of American ceramics ranges from rare early examples of porcelain and redware to nineteenth-century relief-molded ware to artistic ware such a porcelain and earthenware. Adrienne Spinozzi, research assistant, American Decorative Arts, talks about objects collected over the past ten years-now on display in the balcony and mezzanine galleries in the New American Wing-including the extraordinary promised gift of Robert A. Ellison which includes more than 250 examples of American art pottery. The new installation juxtaposes ceramics, glass, and silver objects, inviting close comparison of form and style interpreted in different media.
This Saturday at the Met is made possible by the Clara Lloyd-Smith Weber Fund.
