I wanted to open a game store from passion because my local area game stores are terrible with caring about consumers and overcharging by 2x-3x, I’m now finding out it’s the wrong time to open a game store which is a bummer I’m really passionate for games too
EXACTLY! This is why I'm strictly emulation only. In fact, I just acquired a 4TB hard drive for my cheap, budget-build Batocera PC that'll be strictly for retro gaming. Truth be told. I was tempted to buy the Atari 400 mini console but I'll just emulate it. No need to piss away cash on more plastic boxes.
Most people who say it out loud like that were not even going to buy any game to beging with. They just want free stuf; heck! They even fill the hard drive with hundreds of game they wont even play just for the sake of saying they don't pay.😅 On the other hand, Collectors just buy games to use them as trophies. 😂
@@oldirtydave22 facts. When I was a kid I had very few games, but I can guarantee you every single game I had I beat and I never had a backlog of games. Now as an adult because I didn't own a playstation or xbox + not buying into hype of new releases as they came out. I now have a laundry list of games. Now I'm sitting on a 150+ games backlog 100 of it physical & the rest are digital on steam because I'm kind of bored of playing Age of Empires, Civlization, Rust, blizzard games, sims 4 & simcity. ^ 80% of that was added between 2022-now. Before I probably only had 20-30 physical. I've been mainly adding older retro compilation or franchise collection titles. Between xbox & switch Bioshock collection Crash bandicoot trilogy Sonic origin's plus Bayonetta 1-3 Pikmin 1-4 Mass effect legendary edition Assasin's creed Far cry Tomb raider Tony hawk 1+2 Resident evil 3 & 4 The rest of my collection consists of Square Enix titles & Nintendo Exclusives for the switch. I'm kind of feeling overwhelmed on tackling all these games as I bought too many within a short span of time. I've come to the realization that there's so many games being released on a yearly basis. Between all the new games I'm genuinely excited about, but never buy on top of revisiting the past of games I've never got to play is taxing on the mind. I never had a backlog before.
So if there’s disc rot, what will happen to Nintendo or other console cartridges? Can they be repaired and continue to work or at least last longer than a disc? I want to get an n64 but I don’t know fam, I understand emulating and I may do it but I really like playing on the tv how it was
Emultaion also has the problem of bad frame rates, new bugs and glitches, developers putting in nasty things if you try to emulate like in earthbound the game gets insanely hard and at the final boss it just deletes your save. Alot of people think the moment something on console becomes easy to emulate but thats simply not true. Yes the switch is easily emulated but thats an exception not a rule. It usually takes years for a pc to be even at console level for emulation, let alone 4k 120 fps.
@@WinstonWolfe21 DVDs too can have disc rot and music CD's! So you see even though it's ours and we own them it's not really ours once this happens?!💽💽💽💽
@@SuperMarioBrosIIIthat's mostly a manufacturing defect and in most case how people take care storing them. I still have 20 plus years old DVDs from my childhood and they still work just fine. The internet make it seems like a common problem to validate digital purchases.
For me the games that I wanted to play or try I have and I'm happy. I found out that many games either never live up to the excitement many has given them or they were wonderful and fun. Overall I try to go for games that have replay value like classic Mario Party games or these crossover fighting games and more. Also that ending wow. Cool video. ^_^
Trying to make a business out of collectibles and reselling is tricky and inconsistent. I just buy the games I want and actually play and maybe someday when I need to get rid of the stuff I'll get rid of it all and not worry so much about price.
100% have to disagree here a simple eBay search on solds shows you exactly how often these still sell and how much they go for. To say you can't move any of this stuff is just plain wrong.
Idk man maybe if you have an ebay account sure I can see it moving faster, but on facebook marketplace it moves at a snails pace if you want fair market value on top of dealing with low ballers & flaky people. I tried using ebay, but I could never figure out how to upload an item for sale so I gave up. And then at some point ebay decided to close my account without giving me an explanation as to why. I mainly only used ebay to buy games I couldn't find locally.
I'm glad I sold off my gamecube / wii collection while the prices were more in demand for them. Most of the games I sold have went down in price slightly or stayed about the same. Also if I were to rebuy those games most of them are available on playstation or xbox. The Mario party games 4-7 were going for almost $400-500 CIB on ebay and marketplace. Those same games now are probably $260 CIB today.
I never got into buying cosmetic skins or microtransaction until I started playing League of Legends, Rust, & hearthstone. At least with rust I can re-sell those skins. My friend sold the og xmas lights for $100 and he got those for free. I don't mind buying things in a free to play every once and a blue moon, but when it comes to games like diablo 4 I refuse to spend an extra cent outside of the $70 price tag I paid for it. I think the earliest point where I bought something in game was one of those world of warcraft store mounts back in 2011-2012. I used to collect mounts in wow, but once they started bringing out even more store mounts. I just kind gave up the hobby collecting mounts within the game + it became more harder & harder to do raid content without a guild. I tried getting back into world of warcraft over the years, but every time I come back it manages to get worse. It now has this thing where if you buy a 6month sub you get a mount and if u miss out you miss out. I refuse to support fomo microtransactions & lootbox mechanics.
Uncle Tim how about physical media no longer working? Meaning certain DVD's💽that you have may no longer be able to be played due to disc rot. And theres nothing you can do about this. No matter how well kept your DVDs are. This stems from the factory or factorys where the DVD's were processed and made by the manufactering error which is encoded into all discs pressed. One of the companys effected by this is the Warner Bros. And a number of tv and movie box sets are affected by this! And there you have it!🤔🙄🤨🙆
Disc Rot is a defect in manufacturing (As you said) and not common as the internet make it seems. I still have childhood DVDS 20 plus years and the are and work fine.

I have like a hundred dvd's and none of them have this issue. But, I'll probably check my Warner Brothers DVD's for this, because I did hear that it's predominantly a WB disc issue due to how they pressed their DVD's
Regular Show, High Score Girl, and Protocol: Rain never disappoints.
When the News announced NES Mario was valued at 1million.
I knew it was time to pack up and leave the scene.
Good thing wata games got exposed
