GET RID OF EVERYTHING YOU WONT PLAY!!!
I'm trying to!
Undergoing a purge & fine tuning the collection is always a liberating feeling! Best of luck with your sale, hopefully some local Vita collectors will be able to snag some great additions to their collection 😊
Hey hey! Great to see you over here :) Yes - having the right things vs having all the things is where my heart’s at these days. Take care!
Completely agree!
I feel this. I sold a handful of games that I had no attachment with to a local shop a week ago, just to feel it out. Even though it wasn't much, it was the first culling of my collection in quite a long time. Now i have a few expensive items that I'm wondering if i bring to the shop also, or if I just sell them online myself.
Selling online is pretty rad, but whatever you do - be well!
I sorta half expected Phoenix Resale to be buying the collection but I'm glad with what your doing
:)
Love this video. Curating a collection and keeping it to stuff you really enjoy is important. It is the difference between enjoying your collection and letting it become a burden.
COMPLETELY
Or just... don't have a 'collection'. It serves no purpose in life and is just a distraction.
@@LordRayken Great comment. Thanks.
@@SuperGameHulk Just keeping it real man.
@@LordRayken Whatever makes you happy
This is me in 10 years with my collection of Switch games…
It's all of us
Same here lol
Sold tons of stuff this summer. Feels great.
Switch collecting is going to crash hard in a couple years.
@@warehousedave7937what do you mean?
sometimes Im in the mood for " AN OK CART RACER" bahahahah
I mean, it's true! Some people like their okay JRPG's, I like my okay Cart Racers :)
Wish I could've bought that Summon Night 6 from you and have it signed by you honestly. Been loving your channel a ton.
Still available! Message me on instagram.
I like how this video went back and forth all while completing staying on topic. Good work selling some of the collection. I recently sold couple Gameboys I didn't "need", it hurt a little. But they went to good homes from 2 different people at a car show and swap meet.
Thanks - the editing is my favorite part of this and thinking about story is really important to me.
Why did it hurt a little?
Sony Vita games I can't live without is Cursed Castilla, ex it has those Super Ghouls and Goblins vibe. Muramasa, im so glad i downloaded all the dlc and also Shanta half genie hero. I couldn't pick just 1 game 😂
Such a great console!
I only have 1 vita game now. Macross delta. Lol!
Limited run games... 😕
I just wanna come over to your home and play all those games 😊
Good! It’s tough to part with some of that gold but let’s be honest, many of those games were absolute junk lol
They really were lol
Punky is such a great shop owner. I met him this year on Mar10 day and have been going to his shop religiously since. This was a really nice display to browse. Sadly, I didn't own a Vita at the time (and still don't).
He's a great guy to do business with and completely trustworthy. Glad you found his shop!
Also, Soul Sacrifice is awesome and weird. Good first game to play imo.
I get not keeping games you're not going to play. But honestly, if you played 30% of what is on that wall behind you, you might finish by the time you're 110 years old. LOL
I doubt it haha. There’s at least 4 Trails of Cold Steel games still on the shelf. That’ll take me to the retirement home
@@MortsGarage yep, I am one game into that series.
I did a huge purge of my PS1 and PS2 collection several years ago to a local store who gave me great value (even gave me full value on my Suikoden II, because they wanted it for their personal collection). It was always a cool thing to look at on the shelf, but I barely ever played them anymore, and being able to pay off an entire new gaming PC was a fairly nice trade-off.
That’s amazing - I’ve never seen a store do that before!
Last year, I sold 130 sealed Vita games for 6k. I love my Vita and still play it from time to time but the majority of my time was on the 3DS. Didn’t want take the time to sell each one individually as that would take forever.
Yup. Multiple ways to do it. $46/game ain’t too shabby
@@MortsGarage Definitely. I kept a lot of the “heavy hitters” and just sold the commons. Like you said, a lot of Vita games don’t sell for much and I know a lot of them, I only paid $20 for. Great video by the way.
Thanks for watching - glad to read you’re happy with your choice
Physical media is unnecessary if all you wanna do is play games. I’ve never been a collector. I’m a gamer.
Knowing the difference is the first step towards a more balanced life.
Great idea. Especially since physical media will be going away, and some games won't be available in digital form. Got a game that some radical group finds offensive? Yep, that game is getting deleted off the servers. Voice actor for a game gets accused for child abuse? That game will be removed also. License expired to use certain brands in a game? Well, good bye to that game too. That's your all digital future. Enjoy.
It's that OR have stuff I'll never play. I think these games would go better into the hands of people who will appreciate them more than me :) Thanks for commenting!
Vita is definitely the PS equivalent of the Turbografx 100% (which also means prices will continue to climb)
They’re already nuts now…crazy!
Wow i still feel some type of way having to part with my small N64, Gamecube and OG Xbox Collection last year, but compared to THIS??!! I could not even imagine
Hehe - It actually feels pretty rad!
That's why I have 2 criteria for collecting
- The game must be good
- I play the games I collect
That’s a solid criteria
Double Jump Video Game store, if you are looking to sell a huge portion. Id talk with Cooper the owner
Love Cooper, but wanted to keep it local :)
Never knew Reverie got a physical! I had a Vita but sold it to make a few bucks (I buy and sell as a side hustle.) I have it digitally on PS5. It’s a cool little game!
Reverie just came out on physical. I stay up on NIS America's releases just because they can be so hard to find later.
Lol when you said Pacman was taking a dump my first reaction was 'PAcmancase wasn't in the video". Hope your financial responsibilities aren't serious. Good video as always
I wish he were out in California for a visit! Turns out it was Galaga. That noise is the ship dropping a bomb. The metaphor still applies.
I'm doing doing the same. I've started with my excess consoles. I have a Gameboy advance SP. Do I also need a Gameboy colour and Gameboy advance? No.
Just did the same. Found another GB Pocket. Kept the better case and sold the other. Great minds 👊
I like collecting for the switch a lot which is stupid because it’s expensive but I found I had to go the cheapest route with the sega Saturn and just burn games because getting original copies of everything is ridiculously expensivev
Oh man, I love the Switch - as a platform it has so many great titles to play and collect!
I sold almost my entire collection about 2 years ago😅 sometimes i miss it but most of the times i dont because ill rather have space😂 but i must admit it fellt like the ending of a era...
I collected comics and video games for about 25 years from the nes all the way to the Switch😅
Now i only still collect Switch but no more clutter and shuffleware😂
I love the 2 year view on things. That long term view is an important one.
Watching this makes it easier for me to continue to do the same. I’ve been downsizing these past few weeks and actually feeling great about it.
Right on :)
Ill never quite understand collecting to collect just for the sake of it without any purpose, just go for the ones you truly value and cherish, quality over quanitity.
Love this!
Sell does not have to be a four letter word. If the game is not right for you for whatever reason get rid of it and move on. Every collector has games they have not played. I am constantly adding and subtracting games from the collection.
You sound far too rational! Great minds :)
Seriously been thinking about dumping my entire dreamcast collection. Software at least. Ive fought the idea of a GDEMU for years but as I get older, the clutter almost starts to become a burden. With the ease of still being able to play the games on real hardware starts to sound more appealing as time goes on. Especially after one moves. Packing and unpacking is the worst.
Whatever you decide, peace and no burdening to you
❤ i have a vita collection too and i only buy the ones i love playing and the ones i think worth keeping.. 💕 good decision for letting some games that u think worth letting go
Thanks for saying so! I do love the console
My most valuable Vita games are the Spider-Man, Sly Cooper 1-2/3 and Thieves in Time, Ridge Racer, WRC4 and Farming Simulator 2018. Yes, I bought these for our eight year old son, but it shows the bizarre nature of the market that ordinary used games may now cost double of their original recommended retail price.
It is SO weird!
Three things, I got more, but three things:
1) What's with this getting 12k in two days?! Straight hotness
2) At 4:06, which Mort is this Mort? Is he the manifestation of the childhood passion trapped in his former bedroom that is now an office?
3) i have an alternative title recommendation, It's time to downsize my video game collection or My Vita Games are in a Glass Class of Emotion
Profound insights kemosabe. I’ll answer:
1) Thrilled with the hotness Fosho
2) I was at my office indeed!
3) I never second guess my titles due to my own profundities
Nobody likes a quitter, Mort. Unsubscribed.
Hahahaha
Just wait till you see phase 2. You very specifically might be interested in that.
@MortsGarage 👀👀
As a collector and player I have narrowed myself to my childhood consoles as well as trying to limit myself to around 40-50 games per console that I return to, but I have games coming in and out that I play and after just ask will I play again , most of the time I say no and pass it on. Curating your collection is a great step for mental and wallet health 😂
Amen!
I’m actually collecting for the Vita rn (: I have 40 games in my collection….. I don’t live to far away from fountain valley might pop in this coming week to check out that amazing collection of vita games (:
Punky and his associates are fantastic!! Good luck on the collecting :)
I should probably sell my entire 20-ish vita collection since I just hacked mine. I might even do the same for my 70-ish 3DS collection since I hacked that too.
🤔🤷♂️
Did a major purge about 6 years ago. Surprisingly you don't miss them. I think I have repurchased 1 ps1 game since then.
I love it!
I think it's sad when a person buys so many games and starts to realize that they'll never play them, maybe because they have too many or because they realize they're not interested. I'm very careful with this and I recently sold my handhelds with flashcarts and I felt a great relief getting rid of what I no longer used, because it no longer made sense to me.
Love this ✌️
My rule of thumb is quality over quantity , if you see you’re self loving a game, and see you’re self playing many times over again then that’s the best way to collect works well for me.
It's a great rule :)
Less is more man! Kudos to trimming the filler/games that aren’t important to you
Thanks Steve :)
Great video 😊 I resell and collect games but lately I've had a hard time selling games lol I get attached to the story of how I found them
I get that. With so many stories, which ones are the most worth telling?
@@MortsGarage yeah for sure lol
Just think, the money recuperated will likely pay for the rest of the collection kept
That would be great!
Yeah I know it painful to see stuff you collect or play in your life span go away but same time it feels good to let it go cause it going to someone who gonna take good care of it or use it and your helping out a local game store out and giving them some money
Love this!
I’m going through the same problem at my age now. (34)
Haven’t added to it in a few years and it’s time to let some of it go
I'm at the point where curation makes more sense than collection
@@MortsGarage I agree
Meh this is the 9th UA-cam collection for sale this week. Everyone is leaving. Retro is dead
I mean, there’s still 2,000+ games in there. Retro isn’t dead. It’s just getting a makeover.
Ill die with my game collection then in my will i may have it put in a pile and burned so nobody gets greedy over it lol 🤣
Hahaha
I told myself years ago when i started to have expendable income that i will never in my lifetime collect more than 1000 physical games. Im at 500 currently and with the way things are going digital i think I'll be able to keep it under 1000. I wont lie though, would love to see a home decked out with games like this, just would never personally want it for my own home.
I like that restraint. How’d you get the number 1000?
@@MortsGarage Its honestly just an arbitrary number that I decided would be a reasonable amount that I could both play and not take up too much space in my home.
Open em all up and play em or whats the point in even having all them games. Cant stand the ppl that collect just to look at em
I hear ya, but as long as the person is having fun I guess that’s all that matters
I’m getting very close to doing this. Almost at 1200 games currently.
It feels great :)
Collection question my brother? I myself am not into completing a system. But I have been thinking of going after every Zelda, and Metroid game. Does that sound dumb? They are my favorite two series. But that means I have to get a lot of systems 😆
Your collecting preferences and choices are personal matters :) There are plenty of people who collect every game for a particular series though. Having a focused direction can make it more fun and purposeful.
@MortsGarage thank you brother. Keep up the amazing content.
Awesome video man 😎!
Thanks for checking it out!
I mean, the best I could do for your collection is 2 bucks. Let me know.
We are close. How many zeroes can you add to the number “2”?
I have sold a good amount of games that I know I will never play. I have so many left to go. I use ebay. I've tried local game stores but they're just as bad as Gamestop. Maybe I might try a flea market sale later on.
A bulk sale at a discount can move stuff fast as well. Good luck!
@@MortsGarage That's true. Thank you!
Dang I gotta lot of Vita games, but you make my collection look like mush!!
Well, I still have a bunch left to sell!
Can't wait to see this journey through. Thanks for taking us with you!
Thanks for riding along!
I'll take a vita if you're selling ;)
I may have an extra for you!
I had previously made the point of only collecting games I had beaten on every platform I'd played, so like Atari 2600 to Sega, and Nintendo Consoles, and Xbox PS4 etc, but have now downsized and am keeping only games I beat (with save states) on the Sega Master System and Sega Mega Drive and I'm enjoying the collecting hobbies much more.
Also having to have beaten the game before I keep it ensures I only have games I like enough to do a playthrough.
Smart way of doing things!
Mort no , physical media and games are gonna be going away soon at most major retailers
All the better reason to be at them into the hands of someone who will enjoy them more than me :)
if you still have a “video game collection”, get rid of them now!
Oh?
Sounds like you got a “whole tomato” and you don’t want to get rid of anything lol
Well, I mean I’m getting rid of more than half of it 🤷♂️
You had a lot of shovelware you didn’t need in the first place.
Hence the video :)
Dope video bro, keep up the good work!
☺️👊☺️
Everyone told me to set collect 15 years ago. So happy I chose not to.
Collecting anything 15 years ago…Thems was the days
Love me some Windjammers!!!! Then again I love Neo Geo in general! Did not know that P4G limited edition was worth that much! I guess due to it being sealed? Anyway that's great that you went through with it Mort! During the height of the pandemic, i was unemployed for 2 years. Now before you feel bad for me, I quit the job I was working at (at the time) due to not feeling safe working there while it was going on. I did the same exact thing you did during those 2 years, i went through multiple game collections for various consoles pulling games out I either didn't play or questioned why I had. I was surprised with the amount of games I pulled out of my collection, and was willing to sell. At that time, it worked out great for me! It also felt good to downsize my collection (if that makes any sense). I'm proud of ya man! Good luck with meeting your deadline!!!!
Appreciate this - I hope you've landed on your feet!
I should downsize too but have the urge to play the games atleast before selling haha and keep the ones that you have fond memories of
So many games, so little time 😢
@@MortsGarage 💯
I still own the following collections: PSone, PS2,PS3 and PS4 , OG Xbox and 360, Wii and Wii-U, Switch Sega Genesis and a bunch of big box PC games as well...the madness continues !
Sounds fun :)
with flashcasts and multiple disc emulators, i got rid 80% of my retro collection. no sense in wasting hundreds of dollars in 2023
I hear ya, but those physical items still go a long way for me personally.
@@MortsGarage true. i just gave away my dreamcast port of "Capcom vs SNK 2" to a buddy. it s got a lot of history behind it, but i know my buddy will cherish it
Very cool of you to do that
Rose in the twilight I want it!!!!!!!!
Also, I fully support selling whatever you think you're never going to play because why in the world would you keep it?
We feel the exact same way!
Great minds, great minds!
Gone from my collections Atari 2600,5200,7800 ,Colecovision, NES,SNES, N64,GameCube Dreamcast and I still own many other collections. I dont miss any and the extra cash is great !

Good! I almost unsubscribed 😅 sorry
@@Xtrafix2015 lol all good ;)
1:13 Why is this funny lol
Damn as a ps vita collection I understand you. Gladly i just got every vita game that’s sony published worldwide physically and every ps vita game that’s have hebrew/greek in the boxes and that’s was difficult to get.
Now my goal with my vita collection is to get every fighting game on the console (not mma/wrestling/battle arena games just normal fighting games) just need to find injustice 1.
other goal i got with the vita is getting 100 physical games for the console, currently i own 83 physical games on the console (i own even more because i have couple of digital games on my PSN account and i sometimes buying digital only ps4 games with vita versions as cross buy games when they on sale’s) still need to find copies of silent hill, odin sphere, catherine full body and few more.
My favorite game that’s i got on my vita is the ratchet & clank trilogy just because ratchet & clank is one of my favorite franchises and basically this game made me start to collect every game on the vita that’s got a hebrew/greek release a journey that’s took me 2 years and 3 months.
Had no idea about the Greek/Hebrew variants. Interesting! Good luck on your collecting journey.
Good job recognizing what makes you happy in regard to collecting. I would feel claustrophobic looking at my endless boxes of sports and magic cards.
Sure I could have saved them until I'm almost dead, and min/max my IRL score, but I got the most joy from sharing with friends and Randos. Offering them a chance to enjoy something they never thought was feasible.
The second hand elation and positive vibes I experienced made me love the hobby more than ever, and in an entirely new way. Absolutely no regrets, and yeah $80,000 never hurts.
This is the way
Love that you’re selling through a local smallbiz store. Ebay and amz are great for their own reasons; Still love local. You’ll get a great return for minimal time spent on it.
Agreed. Felt like a win win!
Building a curated collection. Limited time, space and money. Saw no value in things just to have on a shelf especially when they won’t contribute to a retirement fund or whatever. Only buy games I will play, and have always been that way. Small, tidy collection that when I am done will give away, or sell, without hesitation. Can’t take these things with you.
Nope, they stay here
Shhoooosh I only have like 20-25 VITA Games - very hard or expensive to collect VITA Games but that’s OK the Games that I do have I enjoy and plan to keep….. 😊😊😊
They are expensive, but I think we are far from the heights of their value
Hopefully you don't sell it to Phoenix Resale.
I happily would. He’s a friend :)
I ran into this problem with selling alot of my collection. Mostly just games I really liked at one point but asked myself if I ever really was going to play it again
No Ned to keep ‘em at that point
I bought mooseman specifically because it was the last vita physical and then sold it when eastasiasoft decided to put out jet set knights a year and a half later, I really only wanted it for the novelty of having the last game on the system so there was no reason for me to keep it once that happened.
Forgot about that release. I missed it too, but Mooseman is at least an interesting game
Good luck on the sales Mort! Hope the financial thing works out for you. I only have 10 Vita games in my collection. Very hard to come by in MN. I only like to find my games out in the wild though.
Small towns probably aren’t friendly to a console with a very obscure library. Message me on instagram.
Think it’s starting to happen the crash.
It’s more and more I see UA-camrs and people getting rid of their collections even I’m getting rid of stuff.
You think? I think people just aren’t buying every single item. The Vita is a unique library though - it has factors that make it unique among collectors
Your energy and editing is so unique mort, love every video of yours i get to experience. I'm sure youll go far in life in whatever you do, but for now im excited to see you hit 100k Subs in the nearer future than anyone could ever expect. Much love.
This means so much - thank you
This is my collection currently. I sent you a picture of the 4 foot high crate on instagram. It’s way to much and got to the point I’d get anxiety attacks picking out games because of the sheer amount of options
No need to EVER feel anxiety over video games!
What was harder to get the complete collection for N64 or Vita? Cause that would make me crazy to sell after getting it all! 🙂
Vita was never complete. But towards the end of its life, a few of the games had super low print runs mixed with ultra high demand, which created a bit of a problem.
N64 was a joy to collect for. I don’t see myself selling the collection, but would love to add a few of the ultra rare variants. There’s a Rampage big box and Tarzan big box I’d love to find one day. Still also need the Sculptors Cut manual.
I wonder if in the future people are gonna watch this and be like "I cant believe he sold that vita game for that much!" lol, kinda like watching old game hunting videos and seeing people pass on rare games. Also I do know selling stuff from your collection is a bit painful but when you see that green paper in your hands, it does cheer you up after!
I have a feeling I’ll be feeling some of that in the future, but as I said in the video it’s not a good enough excuse anymore
Cool video, subscribed :)
Thanks Charles! I hope you enjoy the other vids as well :)
I would sell to individual that would play them so they can experience it but knowing resellers are on the lookout, I just hold on. I rather give it freely to the orphanage.
That’s an option too :)
If I made a video about my current collecting and gameplaying habits (along with my logic for both,) this would be me in the video instead of you. If I was only allowed to keep one PS Vita game in my collection, it would definitely be Uncharted: Golden Abyss. I've reduced my overall game collection of thousands by 25% in the last 2 years and said multiple times I wanted a curated collection as well. So far, it's working for me. Even with all of the emotions, at the end of the day, it's SO liberating. Good luck to you sir. I know exactly how you feel and what you are going through.
Thanks man! Glad you’re happy with the results. I am so far as well.
Very interesting method of selling off your collection, similar to all the resellers having a cabinet at retro stores. However, this feels more like an art gallery. Other than the ebay fees and everything you discussed, I'm wondering what was or how that aha! moment came to sell off in this way.
Enjoy the channel. 👍
I didn't like the idea of individually listing every item, then the fees getting handed to someone I don't know. Punky has always been a great friend, so I felt it would be a win-win.
Can totally relate at one point I was going for a full vita English set ( Asia / pal / us) and then limited run came out with to many releases and I just lost interest.
They picked some real questionable choices
When you showed Ar Nosurge Plus I thought to myself "that looks familiar, I think I used to have that..." Checked, I sold it in 2015 for $85, still factory sealed. Goes for well over $400 now. Ouch.
Yeah. Ouch is right. But who would have known?
Psvita is my favorite handheld of all time. I only have a few games for it, but I enjoy it. I had to get rid of a few consoles and games recently only kept a few consoles and handhelds.
It’s legitimately awesome. So many fun, and unique games on it.
I sold everything. I realized that I valued the memories more than anything else, not the plastic and cardboard that just sit on a shelf.
Beautiful!
