About 0:54: When Rosalina was still a mysterious character who seemed supreme to everyone else. I miss those days.
Well, she's STILL supreme, but is no longer mysterious. Either way I love her.
It’s funny that we’ve been thinking this for 5 years now. She was originally the overseer of the cosmos, mysterious but with a cool background that we got to read about in the game. Then they had to ruin it by throwing her into every spinoff as a basic, fallible human character. She shouldn’t be playing tennis or racing go karts; they should have left her as a powerful, mysterious figure who makes cameos. She could even be an important character, but still unplayable or at least not a mediocre kart racer.

The 2nd galaxy is considered by most to have surpassed the original, it’s actually one of the rare sequels to achieve this. Plus it won a ton of awards (game of the year if I remember right), so it was not “really bad”, that’s simply your opinion.
If you don’t want a third game, simply don’t buy it. No reason to hold the rest of us back if we do wish for that third game.

This is the only thing that pisses me off. All that hard work done on both games just for 1 star. That won't stop the game from being VERY AWESOME though.
I gotta be honest with you, I actually liked the secret final level. It wasn't hard at all, but it felt like a wholesome and heartfelt ending, more like a reward than a final challenge.
No joke, it might even be my favourite secret final level... I don't think many people share this oppinion though.

I wholeheartedly agree; in fact, it’s probably my third favorite galaxy in the game, purely because of the sentiment derived from it and the music. Although I would’ve preferred a Perfect Run/Champion’s Road esque level, it was still just so nice to see everyone in the game finally unite for the party from the beginning of the game. It also gave me some “you started the game here, and you’re going to finish it here” vibes, which I really liked. And the song is one of the best in the game, only beaten by the timed purple comet theme for me.

Rosalina's is still cute in 2020. It just annoys me that Rosalina nowadays in other Nintendo games is now this hyper energetic woman who says "woohoo or Alright". Why would Nintendo forget about her backstory and her character.
I guess after meeting Mario and his friends, she visited Earth more often, participated in spin-offs like Mario Tennis, Mario Kart, Mario and Sonic Olympic games, Super Smash Bros., etc. and I guess those helped her cope losing her family since she was happier being around others and having people to hangout with, rather than being lonely and just being around Lumas.

i just got 120 stars as Mario in all stars and I'm starting to reconsider if I want to get star 121. i told myself that i was going to 100% all the 3d marios that are on switch so I think I'll still try to make myself. (playing 3d world 5 times over is gonna be a bitch tho.) Although 100%ing the first time made me a lot better at controlling I'm still sorta bad, plus Luigi is a lot more slippery.

First 100% might mean the main story course. Second 100% could be the remaining Stars. All these with Mario. And the next 200% with Luigi.

One of my favorite video game ending levels. The place you start you’re adventure is also where it comes to a close and you got to have the star festival that was interrupted by Bowser in the beginning of the game.

Yesterday I got to see the Grand Finale Galaxy with my own eyes on my own tv. It was a journey getting 240 stars to reach it. A journey I do not regret making.

My first time playing Galaxy was on 3D All Stars, and although I had it since it came out, I only beat Galaxy with the minimum 60 stars. About a month ago, I started a new Galaxy file on a quest to 100% the full game, and would play as often as I could after school. Part of the reason was because I’d seen so many people say good things about it that I thought it’d be worth it. Due to this, I didn’t want to pick up with my old save file that I hadn’t touched for over a year, and wanted to experience the full thing on a fresh save. Earlier today, the message came up that I unlocked Grand Finale Galaxy, I got so excited as I’d been waiting for this moment for so long. Thank you, Super Mario Galaxy, for an experience I couldn’t get anywhere else!
@Korubi honestly it’s not that hard as long as you’re careful with your movements and exactly which coins to get. I beat it first try with both characters.

I’m so glad I finally picked this game back up again to play Luigi after getting all 120 stars as Mario in All Stars a few months ago. The gap helped everything feel so much more fresh as Luigi and the controls didn’t feel nearly as grating because of it. And now I’ve finally gotten all the stars on both routes. I will cherish the gifted images along with the thank you note from the staff forever, and this whole thing has made me feel a pride I haven’t felt about myself in a long time. Even if it’s just a kids game, I can be proud of myself that I’ve done something not everyone has done. Thank you, Mario Galaxy, for everything.

If anyone is wondering how to do this. You need to all 120 stars as Mario. (Then you should have unlocked Luigi) And then you have to get all of the SAME EXACT 120 stars as Luigi. Then you'll have the Grand Master Galaxy. (Whatever thats called) And then you do that. Then once you got that star you have OFFICIALLY 100% Completed the game.

it's where the trial galaxies are, talk to the fourth luma at the top side of that trial galaxies planet is (also you do know online strategy guides exist and you can find all these answers on there right lol)

When I was a kid, I would spend 40 hours finishing a game. At the end, I would pray for an end scene and then see a soul crushing "Game Over". Kids these days are spoiled. That said, Mario Galaxy is my favorite of all time.

These are my favorite Mario games, but while I had no problems beating every level in SMB 1-3, SMW, NSMB1/2/Wii/U, SM64, SM Land 1-3, SM3D Land, Yoshi’s Island/Story/IslandDS/WoolyWorld/CraftedWorld, and collecting all 242 stars in Super Mario Galaxy 2, I STILL have yet to get all 120 stars and unlock Luigi in this game. I thought playing as Luigi was a myth for like a decade. I’m just not that talented of a gamer, but I’ve always really wanted to play through SMGalaxy with Luigi : ( . I also can’t beat every level in SM3DWorld, SM Sunshine, or get every single moon in SM Odyssey, but I’m not upset about those. I’m pretty bummed about my skill level when I think about Galaxy 1 bc it has the Luigi unlock that I’ll never get. It might forever be one of my biggest regrets, alongside all my real, non-1st world regrets.

So you have to do this level as Mario to unlock the purple comets, then AGAIN as Mario with 120 stars to unlock Luigi. Then you gotta unlock the purple comets with Luigi AGAIN by playing this level and once again after obtaining 120 stars to unlock the final level. It's crap.

Holy crap having to go through all those stars was so hard as hell! Especially Luigi’s purple coins! I was happy that I completed the game because not only is this game the best Mario game but it was also the first Mario game I played before playing other Mario games! I was able to play the Grand Finale Galaxy and it was awesome!

always wanted to finish the full game, never could as a kid because the IR strip was messed up and I couldn't get through some levels. I played forever trying to unlock my favorite character in the franchise, Luigi, but I never could. After about 7 years of not playing, I picked it back up and got my boy Luigi, finally feeling like I beat the game with 100%. I love this game, but I am not gonna do the trash dump levels and the purple coin levels ever again in my life.

yes. the story is after Mario defeated bowser, Rosalina lost her luma. then, he fell to earth, and Mario took care of him, and returned him to Rosalina at the end of the game, where to story still stands today.

Foxide Yep, and worst part is: Luigi gameplay is attrocious compared to Mario. You can say that Luigi is the "hard mode" of Mario Galaxy: he took about 1 second more than mario to start running, and when you release the control, he slides a lot, its infuriating in the sections when you need precision. Prepare to burn all your life stocks at certain stages, specially the purple comet ones.
