- Millions of people were able to see the stunning nighttime spectacle of multicolored auroras dancing in the skies across the Northern Hemisphere over the weekend. The auroras visible starting Friday were a result of increased solar activity, including a series of solar flares and coronal mass projections from the sun, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Space Weather Prediction Center. The dazzling curtains of green, red and purple lights were spotted from Maine to California and as far south as Alabama, Georgia and Florida on Friday and Saturday. ABC15 takes a deep look at when Arizona could see an aurora borealis night again.

Ok, I live in Montana with a north facing living room window. Every night I look out looking for the lights. So far, nada, nyet, nothing. I am jealous.

I never dreamed we would see the Aurora Borealis in Arizona in my lifetime
Unfortunately you can only see it on pictures. The sky looks NOTHING like this with the naked eye.
You could here in Co but yeah never anything like pictures, even when I was in Alaska

I thought the same thing in southern Idaho, we could only barely see it with the camera. There was a point between midnight and 1:30 where pictures didn’t even do it Justice. Was just insanely beautiful. It’s not filters but the camera can pick up light our eyes can’t see. I did see all the colors of green, purple, magenta with the naked eye.
No echancments of photo. I took just simple pictures on camera nad it was really bright. Maybe it's the light pollution that makes you not see as good with naked eye

I'm in Northern California, North of San Francisco and we are not seeing any of this...
Maybe a tiny bit of reddish pink but you can barely see it... looks like dust or smoke...

Yet there are pictures from the Golden Gate Bridge with massive colors like this... I am 15 minutes north of there...

first comes green, then yellow, then pink/red based upon penetration amount into the magnetic sphere and refraction of light afterward. whoops looks like we skipped right ahead to red and near equatorial auroral sightings. good luck all.
