I have one just like yours and love it. just like yourself, I have had plenty of bikes and have been riding for 40 years. This is my absolute favorite bike that I have owned ever.
Don’t beat yourself up buddy who wants to be the same as everyone else also that Nicken gave me my confidence back when I lost my mojo I loved it and think it stands out from the crowd nearly all the negative riders I met never ever rode one but still made a comment 😀but mostly I got positive comments I miss my Nicken and may get another 🤝😊☀️Yamaha should put a MT 10 engine in one as a sport optional
They are amazing looking things. It's REALLY hard not to care what others think but it's really our own ego at work .... just ignore all rhe ridiculous comments and know they are just ignorant. I have just bought a cl500 and everyone thinks it's rubbish... I love it, and thats all that matters.
Well said buddy 👏 I absolutely LOVE it and kinda love the fact that people hate it too!! 😂 for the record I also love cl500, think they look really nice , especially on the green 😍
I like these and was very tempted to buy one as a touring machine when they were selling off last years models because they were an absolute bargain but sadly it's just a bit too tall for me. At 5'7"/5'8" I was not quite tip toes but not solid on the balls of my feet and with the weight I just wouldn't feel comfortable. In a world of very cautious styling where everything has to appeal to as wide an audience as possible I praise Yamaha for having the bravery to create a bike they knew would be marmite and to stick with it despite it not being the best received bike. As for the negative comments I suspect they are made mostly by the same sort of people who sand off their "Chicken Strips" in the garage because they are more bothered by what their mates down the pub think than they are about actually enjoying riding.
Many thanks for yr comments Mike 🙏 yes totally agree on the size issue, it IS a relatively heavy bike and I certainly wouldn't be happy if I couldn't flat foot it... I think Yamaha should be applauded for getting this bike to market 👏 Apparently it took 12 years to Develop but the end result is well worth it imo....yes I paid £8500 ( brand new pre-reg ) I think that's an absolute bargain!! Especially as the face-lift ones are over £16k! Ride safe buddy 🙏
Trikes don't lean do they? Anyway, I've owned a Niken since March 2023 (16 months). The ride / grip is sensational. Comfortable; quick; super stable. I've owned a lot of bikes since 1978 and this baby is amazing.
I always loved the idea of the Niken. I think a Niken would be wonderful on our slippery, twisty roads in Coastal/Mountainous Nor-Cal. As an Anime fan the bike totally reminds me of a Tachikoma!
I have seen this bike at a couple of shows and also in the wild and it is indeed an imposing motorcycle. I have owned a Honda Deauville and currently an NC750X and they certainly take their fair share of abuse but I loved both. Totally agree that folk need to ride one and make up their own mind. Looks are very subjective so it each to their own. The motorcycle world is full of bias, mainly about speed but it knows no bounds, if you love it then that is all that matters and folk should respect that. 👍
I love the look of the front-end, Willie. My trike is a trike. I was on it again today. Great machine. I saw a Niken in Spain in late 2019. I was on my F3-S. Ignore the haters. It's pure ignorance on their part. My Can-Am is in Portugal. I may well get a Niken in Thailand.
Marvellous to have a good look at it 😊 From the side it looks no different to any other bike and from the front, well your description of a transformer is pretty spot on. 😊 It’s a motorcycle without doubt. 😊 One big advantage that you didnt mention is the road presence, car drivers have got to notice you coming down the road. 😊 Thanks 3WW😊

Thanks buddy! 👍 it's nice to hear other people appreciate them like I do! But yes the seat width does mean it's trickier for people not as tall 👍 shame as it really is an incredible machine...ride safe 🙏
I don't think there is anything to argue about, it's definitely a trike (if you have to go in to detail to explain why it's not a trike, then it's a trike) but I think it looks cool, it also looks like fun.
I would love to own one, but I don't have a garage currently to park/store it in the winter (I live interior Alaska), and we have lots of dirt roads, and poorly maintained pavement. So honestly I am curious on how well it would handle on these rougher surfaces I drive on.
I’ve never seen one, id love to see one. Anyone interested in engineering and machines would be very interested in this bike. Im curious does the wider front end decrease your lean angle in a corner compared to one wheel. Sounds like it doesn’t if you’re scraping pegs !
Hi Brian...I find the whole concept fascinating too, apparently it took Yamaha 12 years to develop... the ability to lean increases compared to a conventional 2 wheel bike, I've honestly never experienced anything like it before! I've seen these bikes on a track and it's truly a sight to behold!...thanks for the comments 👍
Apparently, analogies are in order (I stole it from Kurt Vonnegut, I think). Imagine a beautiful woman with one green eye and one blue eye. She’d take some getting used to, but love makes that easy.
In its original Jajpanese pronunciation it's "Knee Ken", which translates as Two Swords, for the two front wheels slicing through the wind.....You should have kept it. Odds are you will miss it like you did Ernie.

If the Niken had a locking mechanism for fro front pivot while stopped and a reverse mechanism I'd have one. Aka Piaggio MP3 530hpe.
