I just bought my first pair of docs today. I wear a size 12 in a Jordan 1, 11 in vans, and a 12 in a yeezy. I was on the fence about sizing up but they felt too loose on my feet for a size 12, so I stuck with the 11 in docs.
I just got the Jadon in a size 7 but then I feel like my heel is slipping when I walk. However when I get a size six I feel like my toe was very cramped. Should I still exchange it or keep my original shoe?
That style might not be the best for you. But I always side on sizing down and Dr. Martens recommends the same. You can always have them stretched a bit.
i have the same issue. i’ve got the jadons in a size 6, they feel a little bit loose but the size 5 feels far too small, rubbing on my toes, but i’ve worn the size 6’s out today so i can’t even send them back :( might just have to wear thick socks forever
The Greasy 1460's size 11 felt a touch snug when trying them on, so I opted for the size 12. After breaking them in 100+ hours, I wish I got the 11's. I would definitely suggest going a size down, they will break in nicely.
In my view, this is by far the best, most knowledgeable and helpful channel on UA-cam relating to Dr Martens. It's definitely my "go to", whenever I have an issue I come here and always can find out what I need to know via the videos. I think I'd been wearing boots too large for years, I'd typically been wearing 10UK but I recently got a 9UK 1460 Made in Asia and it seemed a little snug on the instep but now after a few weeks it's pretty much perfect, snug but nice and comfortable, no slipping. I now want to get myself a pair of Made in England 1460s and I was wondering about the sizing comparison. I usually wear 9 in Asian made 1460 so I'm wondering should I stick with 9 in the MIE 1460 or go up to 9.5. 🤔 I notice you say they're a little shorter and narrower.. due to the vintage or heritage style made on slightly smaller shaped last. Hmm, so if 9UK is ideal for me in Made in Asia 1460 I maybe be best going for the 9.5UK in the Made in England one? Maybe you could give me your opinion! Thanks so much for everything and all the great videos. You have given me a lot of help!
Thank you, much appreciated 🙏🏻 It is not so much that where the boot is manufactured versus the specific style. The 'Vintage Collection' does run narrow and short. I personally get a full size up and use an insole even at times.
I have slightly wide feet and had to go half a size up, which I only do in narrow sneakers. It was the only way to lace them tight and get the fit that I like. The 1460's look chunky, but they fit surprisingly narrow.
So I bought the Jadons about 3 months ago and they are really comfortable now, but my toes touch the front part. It doesn’t hurt, but the more I focus on it the more annoying it is and maybe it’s really unhealthy for the feet. Before buying them I tried a size 40 and it felt kinda big...should I keep the 39 or should I sell them and get the 40?
Great question and I have experienced this. Slight touch is fine - a push in any way is not great, but that gets tricky when DOCs should fit snug. Perhaps you need to get them stretched just a bit? I have done this with success to many of my DOCs. Only trust a cobbler with a machine like this if you do: sc04.alicdn.com/kf/H6060379fa2f84bf68476dbddaca70c14S.jpg Hope that helps. 😃
Okay so I just got jadons and they fit my foot like perfect but as soon as I start walking I feel like my big toe is crammed. If I just break them in will this go away
Thanks for your question. Touching and crammed is the difference. Perfect it would be good to get them professionally stretched. Like myself you may be a ½ size.
KaL MichaeL I laced them all the way up because when I was wearing them I had them only laced half way and untied and that sis the trick. I think I’m still gonna try and get Them stretched a little tho. They r breaking in nicely tho
@@francescadalmeida6759 For sure try both see by side and buy the right fit. Also different styles fit differently so if one style doesn't work perhaps another will.
I know this video is about 2 years old but I would just say go for a size down from a US size to a UK size. so US11 to UK10 for ex. You'll never really know unless you try them but Docs, like you said, give a little extra room I assume for thicker socks and or an insole. For anyone who needs a half size, i'd go with Solovair, they are basically the original Docs. They're also better made compared go the out sourced docs that are so mainstream now. They run the same sizes as Docs. Quality control is much better too. I bought some made in china Docs, didnt last a year.
Its so difficult to chose the right size - I have a pair of Asia 1460s in 12 which are a bit to big. Now I ordered some Made in England 1460s in 11. They are way to small (my toe touching the toe-cap)… so I exchange them for a 12. Hopefully they fit now…
It really does vary - but the lasts in al the factories are the same depending on the style so Made in England or others doesn't matter as much as the specific style. From your story I trust the 12 could work - maybe with an insole which I have to do on mine most of the time if I size up due to a smaller last.
do the boots stretch quite a lot? because im usually a size 7 and recently i bought size 6 jadons... when I’m not walking they fit find but when i do walk my toes touch the tip of the boot and it’s kind of crammed. should i return them and get a size 7 or should i break mine in first?
Hi! So i just bought some brand new 1460 BOOT and It’ kinda tight on the middle of my foot. I’m not sure if I just have to break them in or if they are too small?😬❤️
@@KaLMichaeL i have this issue, its across the top where the laces end and the toe box starts, there is stitching acrosss there so im worried they wont be able to stretch :( the size up in the shop had my feet slipping so went for this size but yeh sore :(
@@KaLMichaeL It is the 1460 serena fur lined. Gutted as love them! the issue is more so on my right foot (maybe its slightly bigger???), they fit like a glove in every other part the shoe erg! any suggestions? Ive never had an issue with 'tall' feet before!
So for my Nike Hi tops i wear a size 9 and the same goes for most other brands. Docs though, a 9 feels way too long. Gonna try a wearing a size 8 in as I think I'm probably a half size and I know the leather stretches pretty quick...
Hi Kal, I love your Martens content. I have a question for you. In one of your videos you mentioned you wear a UK size 8 and that sometimes you need to have your cobbler stretch them a tad. What I would like to know from someone who has stretched their martens is do you think it is possible to stretch the length slightly. I originally bought a size 9 1460 crazy horse made in Asia, as they broke in they got loser and loser and now are much to large for me. I have now bought a size 8 which fit way nicer but my right foot is about 5mm longer than my left and is a little to close to the end of the boot than I would like. Left foot is perfect 👌 I wondered if this could be stretched, I would like perhaps 5mm extra room and they would be perfect or do I just give up on Martens in general and sell both pairs and look at other alternatives as the 9 are just too large to wear so I have given up on those. If I can't make the 8 work then nothing will work. I wasn't sure if you had to stretch width wise or length wise. Your help and anyone else's on here would be very welcome. Cheers fella.
Hi! Your videos are awesome!! I am a US MEN 7 Vans, I tried my girlfriend's new 1460 smooth UK 5 and only the right foot big toe touches the front of the shoe, left fits perfect. So i ordered one size bigger: 1490 vintage MIE UK 6 (us Men 7, same as my vans) Will they be ok? Beggin they aren't too snug! Thanks! Greeting from Uruguay!
I went to a store that sells Dr Martens MIA here, and UK7 was huge. UK 6 MIA was pretty big, so i hope UK 6 MIE is going to be perfect. My left foot is 24.2 cm and right foot 25cm
Thanks!! Heya and welcome 😃 Great question! Those are for sure different fits. The Vintage collection MiE will feel smaller so that UK 6 may be just right! Your GF smooth has what is called a comfort last (more room in the toe box for sure).
The Chelsea boots fit me so perfect in a uk 4. So I thought a 4 would fit in 1460 style. It's way too big, so I tried a uk 3 and it's really way to small, like can't even walk one step without pain small. So I don't know what to do 😫
When i got my doc martens (i didn't know a lot of them) i first tried my normal size 41 eu size, butttt they didn't fit (i was kinda dumb) so i bought a size bigger 42 eu size, and now they are a little too big.. Is that bad? I moestly wear thick socks in them
Great question! The key is snug, but not cramped. In Converse All stars that run big I am a UK 9 in modern BEX. Do not know which sneakers you have, but regardless I only wear converse ones myself. Hope this helps when you get a to try em on.
I’m usually a 7.5-8 on all shoe brands, and since ppl recommend sizing down more than up I tried a 7 for my 1460s but felt too tight & not much room to wiggle anything so I decided to size up. & so far haven’t worn them much so I wouldnt say they are “worn in” but when I do wear them they are comfortable & not much blisters BUT it does bother me a bit that the top of the boot wrinkles as if it’s a bit big (but again just the top of the boot not the feet part) & I’ve seen boots that have those top wrinkles/creases but I just wonder if maybe I got the wrong size & should just worn in the size 7 instead of more looser fit of the size 8. Thoughts anyone??
I wear women’s size 8.5 - 9, recently ordered used pairs of doc martens, a 1460 in UK 7 and oxfords in UK 6. Everyone says you should size down if you’re half size so I was worried the 7 was gonna be too big but surprisingly, it seemed perfect, the toe box wasn’t too big and the boot felt snug without feeling too tight, especially around the bag of the heel. Unfortunately the oxfords are a little too snug for me, the heel is pressing against the back off the shoe and the area of where the ball of my feet is, is a bit too snug, I know it’s gonna give me blisters if I try wearing them. Is this a lost cause or can it be broken into more? The shoes are already used.
1460's 8 hole Virginia leather - I wear a 6 1/2 normally and it was suggested to size down so I got a 6. However when I received them they were a little to snug around the middle. Should I try to stretch them or do a 7? Also I can feel my heel lifting. This is my first pair since the 90's do need help.
Mind telling me if I made the right decision, so I’m normally a women’s 9 and wear a 9 1/2 for a roomer fit and I purchased the vintage UK 1461 docs in a size uk 6 😬 They fit great and are still brand new but I can feel my toes touching the end of the shoe when I walk Will they stretch out over time or should I get them professionally stretched ? Lol
Great question! Snug, but not cramped is my best advice. They probably will not stretch and your feet will suffer if they are cramped. I would get them professionally stretched 🙏🏻
@@KaLMichaeL lol perfect timing, my crazy ass was about to wear these bad boys during a 7 hr shift at work only to see if they would loosen up a bit 😬 -taking them off now 😂
I bought my first pair of 1460 pascal women’s. The length is fine but the top of my feet hurts where the lacing starts. Is this part stretchable? Or should I opt a men’s style?
Great question! You may have a high instep or the style you got has a low instep. A Unisex will have a higher instead for sure, but mainly find the LAST that works best for you. Sun, but not cramped.
There is no difference with where a DM is made. The differences are in the styles. Vintage last is more narrow and smaller than a comfort last. They should be snug, but not cramped.
I'm in exactly the same predicament just that I'm a 9UK in Asian made 1460s and they're snug on me too. I want to get a pair of MIE 1460s in the Quilon leather but I'm not sure whether I should stick with the size 9 UK or maybe move up to a 9.5 UK or 10 UK when I order the MIE 1460s. I believe the MIE 1460 is more vintage style made with slightly narrower, slightly shorter last compared to the Asian made 1460s, so maybe I'll need a 9.5 UK in the MIE to allow for that style/fit. Did you ever make a purchase of the MIE?
Hi KaL really nice and informative vid! I am size 11.5 in vans sk8 hi, 10.5 in converse all star 70s and 11 in adidas stansmith, all in US men which size do u recommend in 1461 classics? Thank you!
Thanks! Great question. I am a size 9 US Mens in Converse. Size UK 8 (US Mens 9) in all my DOCs. For sure get to a store if possible to find what is snug, but not cramped. Perhaps my sizing can give you a lead.
I’m between 9.5-10 I own a pair of timberlands size 9 they’re pretty snug so I don’t ware em would know what’s the difference in fit I wants some Dr.Martens.
Great question! Unfortunately I do not have experience with TIMBERLANDS to answer that. But go to a DM store. DOCs should fit snug, but not cramped. Good luck!
Hello! I was wondering if you could help at all. I bought a pair of Jadon Maxs yesterday and im not sure on the fit. I got them in a UK 6 as this is my normal size in docs and I have noticed that when I'm walking around my toes sometimes touch the end of the boot.. it doesn't feel uncomfortable, but do you think it would be worth returning them for a half size larger? Im just not sure if snug would be better than too big to break them in or if I should go for more room just to be safe. Thank you!
Great question! Snug is better then too big for sure. I always recommend snug, but not cramped. If they are cramped then I would try the UK 6.5 or another UK 6 (since all DOCs are hand made it could be just an irregular)
I have the 1460 white smooth DM and i tried a us women’s 6 which was too big so I ordered them in a women 5 and they are very tight and my toes touch the top and my heels keep rubbing against the back what do you suggest?
I have got a problem with a new pair of Dr. Martens Made in England 1460 Ventile (i think it says that the leather is Dockyard made by Pittards). I was able to only find a UK 10 (EU45) (28cm) online, currently i am wearing a UK 13 (EU 48 1/2) (31.2cm) boot with about 4.5-5cm room between my biggest toe and the front of the Boot which is also a little loose on me. The Docs fit almost perfectly, the only problem is that my longest toe is slightly sitting against the front of the Boot. I was wondering if they would get a little looser when i would break them in or if i should get them stretched by a cobbler or if i should stretch them myself. Or if i really have to return or sell them. I hope someone out there could help me because i really like them and dont really want to return or sell them because there are no bigger sizes anymore.
I have that one. Great question! It seems to have the Vintage last and I believe that is why we feel that. It will not stretch there over time, but a proper cobbler will be able to get it the proper push with the right machine.
Hi I got some 1461 docs but they're a size too big UK9 and my foot tends to stick out of the heel. The problem is that the UK8 feel a bit tight. Also I feel they the heel digs in my ankle a bit. What should I do? Get an insole or change them and wait for them to break in? Also I feel the UK 9 look too big
Great question and totally something I’ve experienced in the same sizes!! Technically I am a UK 8.5 for Vintage last DOCs. The 8 is the best you’ll be able to do. Snug not cramped and if you need some help. Have them professionally stretched a bit at the cobbler with a machine like this: m.alibaba.com/product/60430058333/portable-shoe-expanding-machine-shoe-stretcher.html
What about Japan sizes? its in centimeters. So if I wear Nike Airforces size EU44 (that is 28 cm) do you think Doc Martens Jadon in size EU45 (also 28 cm) will be good?
I know i'm a little late to the party but I have a question and would really appreciate any help 😇. I own a pair of 1460s UK size 6 and after five years of wearing them I still don't seem to have broken them in. Everything fits snug and all but my heels slip a bit and I keep getting blisters at that area. The thing is that my sister who wears 5.5-6 is totally okay with these. Here comes the question: I want to buy a pair of jadons, do you think I should go up a size (7) since size 6 in the 1470s hurts my heels? Or is their form bigger and therefore I should stick to a 6? Maybe a 7 with insoles would be best? thanks a lot in advance 😊
Great question! Same for me - if it don't fit right from the start that is not gonna change over time. The LAST (mold) vary. Try on the Jadens. Make sure they are snug, but not cramped and if they are then they are for you 😃
If your getting a steel toe is it wise to get a size lower than what you usually get or just wing it and get a size higher than what you normally wear?
Hi, I recently bought a pair of black Dr Martens 2976 Chelsea boots in a UK 6. I’ve been trying for two weeks to break them in but every time I wear them my toes become NUMB on the sides and extreme sore. Are they too small? When I tried the next size up (the UK 7), these felt too big and made it look like I was wearing clown shoes. What should I do?
Great question! It may be that the last on those is not for your feet. Does the same thing happen with a 1460? If not that there it is. Otherwise you can get them professionally stretched at a cobbler with a machine like this: www.aliexpress.com/i/32929950538.html
i dunno wat to do one boot feels like my toe is squashed in it ,one foot slightly bigger than the other,i got a uk size 4 i can do a size 4 in some shoes or 4 and a half fit better,im not sure if theses dr martens are steel toe caps
I just bought the dr martens 1461 bex smooth leather in size uk 5 EU 38, my toes fit tight on the front and i can feel them on the end of the shoe. I have another pair dr martens the 1460 in size EU 39, but they are very big. I have very much space in these shoes. I dont know what i have to do with my new 1461’s. Should i keep these or should i size up?
I bought my first dr martens boots in men size 9.5 (mono smooth 1460), that is also my normal size with other shoes. I tried on the 9 but all of my toes hit the front which was really uncomfortable and i also tried a 10 which was too loose. 9.5 had to be te right size but my heel slips when i walk for example on the stairs. What do you think about this. Im going to buy an insole now hoping it will fit better
Maybe a 10 with an insole? I have that on one pair and the insole helped, but typically it means that that last isn't great for your feet and you may be better suited with another style.
Hey, So i just got the 1460 the other day. Is it normal for them to be quite tight around the middle of my foot (on the top)? Do I just need to break them in?
Great question! No - not normal, but that doesn’t mean they work work. Tie em tight and the instep should give. Now if it’s a lot a lot right then you may want to consider another 1460 or other style.
Hi! I’m usually a size UK 6 for Dr Martens, but I really want to get a UK 7 1460 Mastermind collab, not able to find a UK 6. Would inserts help with the sizing?
That’s a great question! And I totally get it. Have you seen this yet? ua-cam.com/video/TRzWQVqhD-o/v-deo.html I wouldn’t recommend it. :/ If it was the 101 Mastermind there would be more hope. Best advice I can give without being next to ya.

@@KaLMichaeL just a quick feedback, bought the size 45's... kind of a weird fit. Snug in the toe box, loose on the calves. I'm sure 46 would have been too big, so I guess the answer is: Dr. Martens is regular dress shoes size, not as large as Nikes
I bought the Iowa xtra tough poly dr. Martens in size 10 US. My feet measure at exactly 11 inches without shoes. Are they supposed to feel tight in the middle? Should i get a size 11? There is a bit of space at the toes. They are just tight in the middle
Hey, first pair of doc martens wearer and my normal size feels a tad tight on the toes. Would you size up or take to a cobbler? I'm nervous because they're so expensive 😩
I have the same problem, got a ten year old size eight from a friend (basically still new condition 😁)and it is too tight. I put a generous amount of leather oil inside and outside the boot. I let it soak a while. Then I put two pairs of my thickest socks on and tied the boots as tight as I could. I then heated the shoes with a fan heater, a hair dryer probably better but I don’t have one. They fit a lot better now.
@@IAmRachelSuzanne I’ve always struggled to find shoes that fit, size 8 just too small size 9 just too big. my big toes were just touching the front and my pinky toes were being crushed against the sides. Two weeks in and still trying to get them just a little bit bigger. Docs can be torture to break in but so worth it. I’d bet if you got a size bigger they’d be too big and you’d have to wear thick socks permanently. Docs are so much better when they fit just right.
They should be snug and not cramped. The right cobbler can professionally stretch up to a ½ size with no problem, but perhaps it is the LAST and not the size hmmm
Hey great video! I bought one pair of Docs 1460 ... And when I am walking , my heel is slipping a lil bit out of the Docs. But all in all they fitting perfekt for my foot. Should I rather buy a size smaller or really break in this shoes ?
Great question! Does the rest hold snug? If so then perhaps it is just that style. I have one that did that and I ended up getting an insole from the DM store.
I just bought some dr Martens from the Rick Owens collaboration in uk 12 and they fit but its a smal little space for my heel. Is that normal or is should I have gotten a smaller size?
I just got mine too!! Same size as all other 150 of my DOCs. Make sure you pull em tight. I wouldn’t have size down, but it really depends on what size you are in BEX wince the last is a bit roomy.
Hi! I’m a size 7.5 in converse and bought a size 7 in my docs recently. My right foot is bigger than my left foot and when i wear the docs on my right foot my toe hits off the front of the shoe. My left shoe fits perfectly. Will they stretch overtime after I break them in because I don’t know what to do about my right shoe lol
Great question! Smooth Leather? They will only stretch right with an iron machine at a cobbler. If they are cramped then this is the best solution. You’ll be able to go a ½ size up 🙌🏻
I just got the Jadon platforms. They are my first pair of docs, so I don’t have any experience with the brand and how they’re supposed to fit. My last pair of combat boots were 8’s, and I think they fit great. However, since the new pair are bottom-heavy and larger, it’s difficult to tell how well they fit, since I’ve only worn them about 3 times in total. I’m usually size 8 in all shoes, (though in some sneakers i’m a 7.5). I guess you could say that I’m mostly worried about them fitting correctly and comfortably, since my feet won’t grow anymore, and I plan on having them for years down the line. I’ve been getting blisters on my heels while walking in them (which I heard is normal), but I’m a bit scared to wear thick socks in order to stretch them out, when I feel like they fit well, (if not, a little loose). I’m also able to wiggle my toes in them, and I have a little bit on space left over in the toe of the book (my toenail doesn’t touch the edge of the inside). Anyways, I’m really conflicted about ordering a 7 and seeing if that will be any better in the long run. Any comments/thoughts would be appreciated.
Great question! I think I can help. DOCs should fit snug, but not cramped. Blisters are not normal. Seems like these are too loose on you. Thick socks are recommended, but the DOCs should fit snug. Good luck!
Very informative. I’m Uk8 as well, planning to buy MIE online soon, can i purchase a UK8 MIE and will i get (somehow) the same comfort? (No chance for fitting) Thank you in advance for the answer.
Great question. Which ones do you have and which are you getting. I find most Made in Asia more comfortable. But as for fit it depends on which you are comparing.
Copy that! Thanks for the details. The size is similar. Only difference I find with some modern MIE is a higher instep and a slight slant that pushes my foot a bit more to the front then modern MIA
Enjoy em! Remember they are more of a fashion boot (as stated on the box) see my now and then or maybe Chrome Excel videos for my experience. All the best in fun, safety and health!
Hi! I’m a 37 but tried out a 36 in stores and they kinda touched and slightly squeezed the corner of my big toe, I even tried them without socks, is this normal or should I go for a 37?
Sorry for the delay - was on holiday. Remember snug is right for DOCs - cramped is not. Loose is a no no for sure. You can always get them stretched professionally a wee bit. Hope this helps 🙏🏻
Great question! Normal, no. But we all have different feet. Which leather is it? Smooth leather can be stiff and take time to break in, but for the most part with most there really should be a tough break in with modern DOCs.
@@clare_9438 It all depends on your usage. I alternate my 100+ styles so they all stay new and don't break in. If you have them as your bi weekly pair and they aren't comfortable, eventually they should be if your feet match the last (mold).
So I’m usually a 8 or 9 (usa) size for shoes depending on the type. I just got on the 1460 in Smooth Leather, i tried on the 8 at the store and they were so tight i barely got my foot in them and it was painful, then I tired the 9 and they still felt tight but better in terms of pain. Now as they’re getting a little more broken in, i am noticing my heel is coming up slightly as i step, is this normal ? Or did i get the wrong size ?
Great question! Have you had the same 1460s in the past? They should be snug, but not cramped. Perhaps the last on those you tried isn't the best for you. Seems like the size was right, but perhaps not that specific style.
@@KaLMichaeL no this is my first time with smooth leather or real leather for that matter. I usually do comb leather or fake, i never “broke in” a pair before of anything. But thanks man I appreciate it, deff going to dabble more.
Hey (Im writing from my Sisters acc so its a dude speaking haha) Great video very informative! But i have a question about the stretching. I ordered the 1460 Smooth in 9 1/2 Uk and 10 and in the 10 I got enough space in the front maybe a bit too much so I would rather stick to the smaller ones because they almost fit perfectly. But I have a very wide feet and in the 9 1/2 the little Toe of my right food kinda gets crammed so i wonder can it also be stretched in the wide or just in the Volume if u get what i mean.
After a fiew tryings i would say now that the 10 would be best but i have no good hold around the angle. The 9 1/2 fit there perfectly but in the toe region its pretty tight so ye still the question can this be stretched out?
Great question. I would get the smaller and stretch the width. 👍 find a cobbler that has an Italian steel stretcher like this images.app.goo.gl/ytpukigDW29BRrX76 www.ebay.com/itm/222079059202

I just got the Jadon in a size 7 but then I feel like my heel is slipping when I walk. However when I get a size six I feel like my toe was very cramped. Should I still exchange it or keep my original shoe?
I'm literally in the exact situation and I'm not sure what to do either. I think I'm gonna keep the 6 because they will end up stretching out a bit.
@@maddison7975 Thick socks and maybe an insole? Best of luck!
@@KaLMichaeL i’ll do that! thanks
The Greasy 1460's size 11 felt a touch snug when trying them on, so I opted for the size 12. After breaking them in 100+ hours, I wish I got the 11's. I would definitely suggest going a size down, they will break in nicely.
Thanks for your experience!
It depends which 1460s - ones with the comfort last can be very roomy in the toe box.
I think I’m still gonna try and get
Them stretched a little tho. They r breaking in nicely tho
They should push on the tips of your toes besides that I think you got it ☺️
Omg same problem here!!! Idk if I should return them or get a size up please help :(((
@@francescadalmeida6759 For sure try both see by side and buy the right fit.
If you have a really wide foot you have to size up, at least from my experience and I own 14 pairs of Dr. Martens, from 1461 to Dr. Martens Chelsea’s.
Great question! Snug or crammed? Is it uncomfortable? Always recommend going down versus up unless it really isn't the right fit.
Hi! So i just bought some brand new 1460 BOOT and It’ kinda tight on the middle of my foot. I’m not sure if I just have to break them in or if they are too small?😬❤️
Great question! Where in the middle? In your arch or on the top of your foot? How’s the length?
@@KaLMichaeL i have this issue, its across the top where the laces end and the toe box starts, there is stitching acrosss there so im worried they wont be able to stretch :( the size up in the shop had my feet slipping so went for this size but yeh sore :(

So for my Nike Hi tops i wear a size 9 and the same goes for most other brands. Docs though, a 9 feels way too long. Gonna try a wearing a size 8 in as I think I'm probably a half size and I know the leather stretches pretty quick...
The key is snug, but not cramped. 💫
Great question! Yes - with a machine like this at your cobbler you can go up to a ½ size in length safely. 😃 www.ebay.com/itm/222079059202
Hi! Your videos are awesome!!
I am a US MEN 7 Vans,
I tried my girlfriend's new 1460 smooth UK 5 and only the right foot big toe touches the front of the shoe, left fits perfect.
So i ordered one size bigger:
1490 vintage MIE UK 6 (us Men 7, same as my vans)
Will they be ok?
So I don't know what to do 😫
Great topic! Try a 4 that is not the 'Comfort last'. I think one with a 'Vintage last' would work. 😃
A little bigger is always better because you can add things like thicker socks or an insole. With smaller you can't go anywhere from there.
Generally it is recommended to size down. They should be snug but not crammed.
@@KaLMichaeL Ohh, thx for answering, i now see that i wrote "moestly" haha.. But i'll keep that in mind for my next dr martens :)
Hello i usually wear us (7 size 39) sneakers should go for (US 6 EUR 38) or (US 7 EUR 39) 1460 bex doc martens plz help...
Great question! They should feel right. Perhaps that style in a unisex will work better.
What type of 1461 steel toe was that you were showing? Becuase I loved the color of it.
Oh yeah! It was a brush off one from years ago. 😃
There may be a chance that that LAST and shape isn't the best for your foot. Perhaps try a vintage last instead.
Mind telling me if I made the right decision, so I’m normally a women’s 9 and wear a 9 1/2 for a roomer fit and I purchased the vintage UK 1461 docs in a size uk 6 😬
They fit great and are still brand new but I can feel my toes touching the end of the shoe when I walk
Will they stretch out over time or should I get them professionally stretched ? Lol
Great question! Snug, but not cramped is my best advice. They probably will not stretch and your feet will suffer if they are cramped. I would get them professionally stretched 🙏🏻

I wear a 7 in Asian Docs, you think I should stay there for move up to 8s for MIE ones? The 7s fit my foot rather tightly.
There is no difference with where a DM is made. The differences are in the styles. Vintage last is more narrow and smaller than a comfort last. They should be snug, but not cramped.
@@KaLMichaeL yeah, I was eyeing the 1460 vintage mie. I had the Asian 1461s.
@@KaLMichaeL so would you say it’s advisable to size up if I intend to buy a vintage last?
@@Sinnerboy88 I haven’t. I may just get same size as I notice the 1461 fit me tighter than the 1460.

Great question! Have you tried the unisex version instead?

What about Japan sizes? its in centimeters. So if I wear Nike Airforces size EU44 (that is 28 cm) do you think Doc Martens Jadon in size EU45 (also 28 cm) will be good?
I only speak to my experience and your research is as good and probably better than mine with JP sizing. Good luck!
Make sure they are snug, but not cramped and if they are then they are for you 😃
@@KaLMichaeL will do! Many thanks😀
If your getting a steel toe is it wise to get a size lower than what you usually get or just wing it and get a size higher than what you normally wear?
Great question! I for sure do now and I wouldn't - the extra room is good because the lack of flex in the toe box.

I just bought some dr Martens from the Rick Owens collaboration in uk 12 and they fit but its a smal little space for my heel. Is that normal or is should I have gotten a smaller size?
I just got mine too!! Same size as all other 150 of my DOCs. Make sure you pull em tight. I wouldn’t have size down, but it really depends on what size you are in BEX wince the last is a bit roomy.
@@KaLMichaeL Okay, Thank you!🤗 and tysm for quick replies:)

You’ll be able to go a ½ size up 🙌🏻
@@KaLMichaeL I will have to try that, thanks!
i got exactly thew same problem ,did it work for you i got aunt sally leather ones
Hello i wear converse Euro 37.5 should i oder size eur38 of doc martens? 1460s?
hello quick question on shoes im 7 1/2 do you recommand me to get size 7 ?
I recommend if you are a US 7 ½ to try on the style of DOCs you want in a UK 6.
Should fit snug but not squished. Loose docs are not recommended.
I have all 1460s in UK8. (Crazy horse, smooth, carpathian, ambassador). Planning to purchase 1460 Vintage MIE lace up boots oxblood quilon size UK8.
Copy that! Thanks for the details. The size is similar. Only difference I find with some modern MIE is a higher instep and a slight slant that pushes my foot a bit more to the front then modern MIA
KaL MichaeL nice! Thank you. What a relief knowing I can proceed in purchasing the vintage MIE online. Stay safe.
@KaL MichaeL thank your for answering!😊hope you enjoyed your vacations

hey is it normal for the tongue of the shoe to hurt a little on your foot? these r jadons and idk if it’s normal or not bc they’re brand new
Great question! Normal, no. But we all have different feet. Which leather is it? Smooth leather can be stiff and take time to break in, but for the most part with most there really should be a tough break in with modern DOCs.
@@KaLMichaeL ty and it’s smooth leather
@@clare_9438 It all depends on your usage. I alternate my 100+ styles so they all stay new and don't break in. If you have them as your bi weekly pair and they aren't comfortable, eventually they should be if your feet match the last (mold).
@@KaLMichaeL k good to know
So I’m usually a 8 or 9 (usa) size for shoes depending on the type.
@@stag03 Shouldn't take much to get comfortable, but perhaps look at a Pascal if you want to avoid that altogether. :)
@@KaLMichaeL thanks brother I appreciate it and i will deff try them all, I’m obsessed with these boots lol
I tried a size US 9 but they fit way too tight so I went with size 10 and used a insole to fill in the spaces. Is that fine?
That is totally fine! I had to do that with a pair. :)
Love it ♥️
