Not sure if they changed it back or not, but making every game take 30+ minutes (not conquest) was a massive mistake; especially when you get punished for leaving. No one, and I mean no one, wants to get stuck in a game that long when teammates afk or troll regularly.
@@bwhere45 Exactly. At least for this alpha stage, surrender requirement needs to be lowered to majority rules (3 of 5). Well over half of my games are full of trolls that intent feed from minute one or people playing their first game and refuse to listen to vgs or voice calls and nobody *ever* surrenders. It's awful. It's terrible. It's no good. On top of having no matchmaking at all, the game simply isn't worth playing at any level right now. Maybe when they start giving out keys to everyone, add matchmaking and in game text chat then it will get a bit of a glow up. Until then, I fully expect the population to slowly dwindle to nothing.
I watched my brother play Smite when I was younger and I've finally gotten into it myself as of a couple days ago :( I hope the game doesn't die. I'm having a lot of fun
Actually, SMITE 2 is showing incredible performance all across the board. This game will skyrocket in the coming weeks and will overtake League of Legends in Korea, and HiRez will learn from their mistakes and finally maintain a game's popularity for more than 2 weeks. I'm sure of it! 😃
Hey man, i was a pretty consistent viewer of yours for like.. 4-5 years and even a viewer on Twitch as well. Im not leaving this comment as like, a grill or anything. This is just the insight of a now currently very distant viewer, and what you do with it is up to you. There was a period in time when it became very obvious you weren't having fun with the game anymore, and the dragging of the feet became noticeable. I get it. Smite blows, and i stopped playing it way before i stopped watching you. So you were the only connection to smite i had for a while. But, when i saw that, it admittedly takes the fun out of it from my side as well because i dont like the game anymore. When you dont like the game anymore either, it's almost like a "why are we even here" mindset set in, and then I heavily drifted away as a result. I do think you have the potential to be a variety streamer for sure. The charisma you've refined and i think the experience from being a smitegame streamer will serve that well if you ever opt to give it a run. But, it will be a struggle. I think either way you take will be a struggle. But, as long as you enjoy it. That tends to reflect through the product being delivered. Main point, you have the skills, i think, but... It's a risk. Whatever you do, though, as you well know, you will need to be consistent. So it may as well be something you enjoy. As the content offered is usually better for it as a result. Either way, you're a smart dude. You'll figure it out.
Well said I agree 100%. DoubleJ is the only smite content creator I've watched in the past 6-7 years, still is the same man but the game is just not fun to play or watch anymore. I hope he does variety content, but the only problem is the whole channel is based on Smite. The transition will be hard but worth in the long run in my opinion.
It really did feel like a big movement in DoubleJ's videos went from enjoying the game to making it a job to put out smite videos constantly. I soon realized that I didn't really need to watch a regular "good" smite video every day, but I did enjoy watching people enjoy playing games including smite. That's why I cant find myself watching pro players smite content, because the majority of it is just the players cashing in on the many hours they might already put in the game to practice. I think DoubleJ should become a Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel content creator 🙃
I agree with everything said here. JJ is and will always be a top 3 favorite internet personality of mine. If Smite died and this channel stopped putting out videos, I would still go back and watch Agni videos from 10 years ago. However, I think a bigger thing to take from Sledge's comment that I agree with is you were visibly tired of playing in every video. The "you don't like the game, I don't like the game, what are we doing here," mentality was what stuck in my mind toward the end of my smite playing days. If/when a change is made, commit to it. If you want to upload playthroughs of old games, do that and stick to it and enjoy it. If you want to stream new stuff, commit to it, stick to it, and enjoy it. If you want to become a political streamer, well I think that would be the most entertaining choice you could make.
Watching smite die has been one of the saddest gaming experiences I’ve ever had. You’ve been my favorite smite content creator since I started playing in season 3. I think my first video of yours was the one hit Janus ult with the goku voice dubbed in. Been a fan ever since. Adventures in bronze duel was one of my favorite series of yours. But I’ve always like the wacky builds and the grind from bronze to masters. You’ve always hang been a fun personality to watch. I’ve tried to keep up in the past when you’ve switch games but UA-cam always slacked at letting me know. Hope you keep posting. Always makes me happy to see an upload from you.
i played smite back in s1 maybe even before i was like 7 years old. I found doublej’s channel when season 5 or 6 was out when he did the chronos attack speed build. the game was at least slightly lively back then and there was an upside at least. i stopped playing around year 9 i think, abt a year after the reworked starting items came out. i was bored and decided to see how smite was doing, i didn’t even know smite 2 existed ngl. The one video ive seen abt it (jj’s most recent video) looked abt the same as regular smite idk why they decided “hey we’re gonna make a new game for no real reason” it’s sad to see the state of affairs in the smite community now. at the very least im glad to see content creators like jj and rexsi still make content true to their original style.
Honestly, this reminds me of OW1 and OW2 where OW2’s mere existence took resources that could have went to OW1. The only difference is that S2 is an actual upgrade to S1, where OW2 is just OW1 without the main thing people wanted from OW2.
@@ronaldvexdian2182 SMITE 2 is an upgrade (though I'd argue there are a few things that just feel worse), but it just feels like incomplete IMO. And unlike Overwatch, the playerbase isn't nearly as big to where this can be ignored. Overwatch Blizzard got lucky and have a "too big to fail" size playerbase. Not to mention, the money of Blizzard, Activision, AND Microsoft behind Overwatch.
Overwatch 2 just feels like a joke of a game, just an excuse to "re-introduce" the game by making it seem new when it never was and probably never was going to be with the pve that they "planned"
you can tell smite is dead and the higher ups wont take accountability because of the layoffs imo, the fact that Stew has been in control of the death of like 8 other games under the Hirez banner but instead of him stepping down or being replaced, they layoff half the core dev team thats been around for a decade. to me that shows theyd rather commit corporate suicide than ever admit fault or restructure management
I quit smite around a year and a half ago. Everything goes wrong in nearly every game. Nearly every game someones being toxic. Someone leaves. Or someone queues solo and goes mid. Its so goofy. As someone with two kids im not going to waste 50 mins of my life on a match that is miserable. Dont know how people keep playing this game. But doubleJ is the best smite youtuber out there
@@kjkent.3738i disagree. I have more hours on this game than I’d like to admit and am high ranked in every mode. But damn the amount of toxic people or the people who have been rage quitting is insane. I had to quit playing a month ago.
@@VColossalV i've seen this in plenty of games like smite. I honestly don't think there's much any developer can actually do. That kind of people tends to go to those games, I guess. There was this headline recently about cod reducing toxicity with their draconian moderation. Yeah, sure. But it's not fun that way neither.
I have like 4k hours on smite and I've played my fair share of smite 2, if I were a content creator I would totally feel the same way as you... but I'm hoping your channel sticks around as you are one of my core UA-cam channels I try to keep up on. keep on keeping on double J much love my dude ❤
You said it well, the timing was just so awful. No one wants to play or spend money on S1, but S2 isn’t ready enough to bring people back day in and day out. So they just cannibalized both games
Same boat, I felt the issue started when I noticed they raised prices on gems. Skins were not able to be transferred even though smite 2 is a complete new game but it's a kick to our faces for us who put good money for skins. Not all skins will transfer over here only few. But the fun died down with cross play with soo much toxic players. Took me a good time to find a team and not have rage quits. But it could just be my match's idk..
No one wants to play smite 1? What? 😂 I play smite since s3.. i have 11k hours... and im still playing smite 1. Right now im queing assault and still having much fun. I care a lottt more about having fun, than new graphics with flashy special effects and crap. I could play smite 1 for another 10 years like this without any issues
personally i'm optimistic for the game's future, the main issue is GETTING THERE. when the game is f2p, there are more gods, and there's a pro league again, they should do a massive advertising campaign to really get the ball rolling again
Oh ya. It’s the sole reason for the downfall. Imagine if we hadn’t known about smite 2 this entire time and they were still working on it in the shadows. Smite1 would still have all its players while they prepare a better smite2 launch. Instead, they sucked all the players away from smite1, just so they could play smite2 and quit after. Only to never return to smite1. Successfully killing their IPs.
@@immortal_SO Issue is that Smite 2 would very likely look NOTHING like it does right now without all the feedback to cultivate it for so many months. While I agree they fumbled it by killing off Smite 1 in the process, I also think it was good to collect general feedback. Without the feedback Smite 2 would most likely not be in a desirable state by the time it was announced, and they would be too deep in with all the changes.
@@envyrande3782 So many games do not do well with sequals. Not only do you have competition but you divide your own player base. It needs to be game of the year to draw in the players they need.
@@scubaman2003 Time will tell. I think it's good they are picking up the pace. My reason for not playing right now is due to lack of content and gods, and many others share that same sentiment. I'll play it seriously in January or February. Smite was never enough of a massive game to hit GOTY, not remotely close, and I don't think it ever will be. Game of the year is something it could only dream of, even in Smite 1. What matters is that its playerbase is enough to be relevant, which is what I am hoping they achieve by next year.
it's incredibly heartbreaking seeing smite die off like this. i got into the game in the middle of season 2 and i remember being so excited at where the game would go. that's when i started watching channels like yours, too. i stopped playing smite a while ago but i kept watching bcuz you are a genuinely entertaining person to watch, no matter what your video is about. i hope your channel sticks around, bcuz it looks like smite is going to die - not with a bang, but with a whimper. :(
The problem is they’re not doing anything to the gods kit or not enough. They hyped this up is being a true sequel, but really it’s just a remaster with pretty graphics and no one wants to wait months for a god just to lose all their skins for. Smite 2 is just a way to double dip for hirez .
I'm part of the problem, once people started playing smite 2 I didn't want to watch smite 1, then smite 2 just doesn't have enough yet so I don't want to watch it. An now I'm out of date on balance cause i dont play for the same reasons, an now im stuck in a loop of I don't want to watch or play either and it sucks.
Bro, been watching you for yearsss because of smite but you got a hilarious personality anything you do with that same legit personality you will thrive in. I use certain slang with my friends cuz of you, certain jokes, you’re a legit good, genuine, and hilarious man! Chase whatever dream you got whatever you truly want to do and don’t look back just forward. -Message from a 23 year old nobody with big dreams from Bakersfield CA
Idk, many of my friends who play smite and myself personally don't really care for Smite 2, even less if you have to pay for it. We continue to play Smite 1 and I truly believe it should never die. It really doesn't need much apart from new gods and items, it's still fun and if they kept developing it would continue to be fun for years to come.
i have played/watched so much smite(like thousands of hours) they really said lets forget our best game we have ever had to put all our time into this game that isn't even done yet and hope people like it as much as our successful game. smite 2 doesn't even look like fun to play( smite was also a struggle sometime too. ) I'm just sad that they have pulled the plug on smite and possibly gonna kill smite 2 before it even makes it out of alpha.
My experience so far with Smite too is it's actually been pretty fun to play . The only god I've had any annoyance with really besides Baron being over buffed is kuku he just feels bad. But that might be fixed next patch later today.
Tbh jj play whatever smite, league or whatever I’ll watch because you make the video funny and the game look fun (legit started playing smite because of you and came back)
The whole thing about “UA-cam won’t show anyone the videos” may be true, but it can’t stop you from trying. Play what you want to play, and if you’re having fun, people who remembered you from Smite will join whatever new community you build. If you’ve got time to not make money, have fun and that will attract an audience.
The thing with Smite 2 is that it ISN'T out. I'm not paying to beta test an incomplete game. I also think they need a MAJOR addition to gameplay mechanics to make builds/combat/progression feel better. And knowing Smite 2 is coming out makes me not excited at all about Smite 1 so I just want to not play either until the game is finished.
yeah solo i love you always have been watching you for as long as ive been playing smite like 7 years man i never comment often but ive legit always enjoyed the content and try to watch as much as possible and i do believe smite 2 will improve and get more viewer ship its smite itll bounce back but till then ill def be checking out youre stream homie
I regret buying the founder's pack so much. It seems to me that Hi-Rez was running out of money to develop the game and decided to go with this 'buy into early access' methodology to get more funds. Alpha 1 launched as a way to appease people and only served to show that the game was still very much bare bones. From that moment onwards, there's been nothing but dissapointing new 'Alpha stages' that kept reinforcing the idea in my mind that the devs have no clue where they are heading with this 'new installment' of Smite. It just sucks.
We are still here for you double J. Honestly been watching a lot of your older videos from like 2-5 years ago, seeing the map I miss the most and feeling that nostalgia factor. I wish I had been actually good at the game then but your blaster vids from back then are fucking hilarious and awesome. I hope you stay with us, you’re genuinely a funny dude
You don't have any idea how heartbreaking is to hear that! I found your channel a couple years ago when I started playing smite with my boyfriend abd your channel and builds were so funny to me that I just couldn't stop watching you! I adore your channel and I love Smite, I really hope Smite2 gets on board again and you keep doing well baby 🥰 No matter wich video you upload I'll watch you (it will be really interesting watching you play story games like SH2, etc)
Yeah, I agree with you; it feels meh. I was playing Smite 2 when it came out but stopped playing a month ago. I am still playing Smite 1 here and there.
I stopped playing smite twice and tried to pick it back up middle of last year, gave it a good few months then stopped for good its hard to play a game that reakly hasn't changed in so long its a solid game but multiplayer games do just die either by stuido by a swift axe or a slow trickle at least it lasted this long
I played smite for about an in game year, stopped a year or two back as i felt it was making me a worse person. Gave LoL a genuine go and I have genuinely enjoyed it thoroughly. Maybe you should try doing some league videos and see how it feels.
It truly is a sad thing to see with 99.2% of my favorite smite streamers are kinda backing off smite. I can barely make twitch streams so kinda dependent on the youtube. I get it though you have to make the money you put the time into. I try too catch a hour of gaming a day even if I know smite2 is a slippery slope currently. Idk just hope it gets better.
A cry from the heart. I've been playing Smite since 2015 with short breaks. After the release of Smite 2, it became impossible to play the first part - stupid people who wanted to see "What is Smite!?" were invited to the first part and simply not knowing the builds and skills of other gods simply lost the games, or you play against the same newbies (thanks to the developers for the excellent selection of players). My ass burned and abandoned the game, periodically watching your videos. In general, what I want to say is that Smite is already dying and this is sad (5k online in the first part, I don't even want to take the second) Thank you for your work and mood.
You were the first smite content creator and regardless of smites here or not, I’ll still be watching and supporting you and your content. Stay strong JJ 💪 Overall Smite 2 has been a waste of 30 dollars for me.
I was confused a few months back when they weren't open alpha. I can't believe it *still* isn't open. I got a key at the start and even bought a founder edition later hoping to play with my friends in a few months. Now, none of us load up either SMITE.
Man I hope things change. Your channel has been one of the things keeping me coming back to smite. That being said I’m kinda bored with both games. Deadlock has been crazy fun. Honestly Double J give league and dead lock 10 videos on UA-cam and see what happens. GL buddy wish you the best
A huge problem with Hi rez in smite is that that never actually solve issues with the games. Every time a patch is released it’s just new bugs traded in for old ones. It took multiple seasons for them to finally fix the glitch where you were just stuck in the god selection. God’s hit boxes are absolutely terrible. Autos and abilities either don’t hit or shouldn’t hit. Hi rez just bandages up gun shot wounds and expects everything to be ok. Its already happening in Smite 2. Just how long can they keep hiding behind the code is old till problems are actually fixed.
Smite success was in spite of itself. For every positive it gave the higher ups would kick it right back down. I don’t understand how this could be mismanaged so hard for years and no one learn
I got into smite when it was released on Xbox all those years ago, I played the beta and they gave me extra codes to share with my friends. Only want of them liked the game and to this day we still play and talk about the game when we meet. I was a very dedicated player until 2021 I believe, then I moved to other games because I kinda lost interest. I was very excited when they announced smite 2 because I felt like the game needed a fresh start for me to get into it again and honestly I am loving smite 2. It definitely feels like it’s on barebones and I understand the low player base because you have to pay to play it right now. I understand content creators frustration too but my experience as a very old player coming back after a 3 years has been good.
Its like Netflix with batch releases. Jojo, part 6, had a crazy hype launch, then dropped off because people realized it's not everything you were expecting. It's not even a week or two between that next bit of goodness. Then when there is a content drop, the big fans scoop it up, then drop it because its sizable enough to bring someone back but not big enough to keep them. By the time everything is what it should have launched with, the people who have an interest in it may have "already had their fun" or they might not even even know theres enough content is out. Then the people who consistently play are probably tired of being conditioned to minor updates after a minor update. I used to love smite, i still do, but ive maybe played 20 hours the last year and maybe 50 hours the last 2 years. Its just fallen off with how theyve misshandled it
Don’t ever use jojos in this context because it most definitely was everything we expected and more lmao. Just bc you’re a bot doesn’t mean part 6 was bad, part 6 blew every other part out of the water.
@@lesstalk2239 Part 6 was always deemed the worst of the stand parts. Making it on batches instead of weekly literally killed any relevancy for it, as it always does. They had to treat it with the most care of any part and still blew it. Obviously that comment is made by a human so can you quit calling non-sense to people you don't like? It dilutes the actual meaning. They made several points but you just focus on that. You don't want a nuanced conversation, you just wanted to call them an idiot. Starting to think you defend part 6 just to be reactionary rather than for actual reasons.
Smite was on a decline because of the new player base. Toxicity has always been around but the og crowd shook it off, talk some smack back and moved on. Now people don’t talk smack they ruin games. They get mad because a jungled didn’t save them so they take his jungle camps. The supp wasn’t good for the adc so the adc goes mid or solo. They cry about it in chat then quit 5 min in the game. You couldn’t play conquest anymore because ranked was a 5 to 10 min wait and casuals was a breeding ground for people who never seen adversity.. you get one legit game win or lose out of 50. The ogs just started dropping like flies. I can bet a lot got banned when they hit there limit on the b.s. of how the game was being played for the 30th game in a row and raged at a softy and got reported.. smite needed to be harder on the rage quitters and the ones who were feeding and intentionally ruining games. I wonder why there’s no chat box. Probably because they realized they banned a bunch of people who had played the game for years in the last year and went “wait, somethings up”. No one quits because they get yelled at in chat. People quit because the game stops being competitive and fun with feeders, stealers, and rage quitters in ever game. Then they killed the fomo with the announcement of smite 2. Everyone who bought tier 5 skins or battle passes lost the desire to play their favorite skin because it’s going bye bye. Then they killed the league that was honestly so good at inspiring me to play when at was at my wits end with the game for the reason stated above. So when your game is in such a bad state because of the newbie player base and then you say hey come play our new game for 30 bucks, who in their right mind is going to do that. As you can see by the numbers, not many.
I stopped playing because my ranked games would always get disconnected and I would get timer bans… AND if I did get to play a game toxic teammates would leave after they die lol
I've started to watch your content again few weeks ago and it has been good fun. I hope you'll transition well into some other game or that Smite 2 will manage to do good.
Hey man, don't want to echo too much, I've seen a couple comments already talk about thus, but I watched you since like 2017 up until around last year, didn't enjoy watching you play a game you didn't look like you were enjoying. However, you are easily one of the most charismatic and creative smite creators, and I would gladly watch you play other games. Yt definitely makes the transition sck, but like others have said, I think you'd be one of the few Smite creators that could make a successful transition. A perfect example is the man who also commented on this video. I started watching MythyMoo around the same time as you, as he was primarily Smite. He switched to variety years ago, when he stopped enjoying Smite and I stopped watching him for a while. Then I saw one of his vids randomly pop up, and I watch most of his vids again nowadays because he's just funny as hell. You are one of the only other Smite people I can see pulling off that transition. Best of luck man, look forward to what you do next
I used to be a huge smite player and fan of hirez. I first started playing all the way back during Season 2. Man I still remember, the main menu and the music. The game was so epic and the whole premise of gods against gods was so great. Then year after year they just diluted their whole concept of what Smite used to be. By including weird skin and changing the graphics giving smite more of a cartoon look. Smite used to have this ''serious'' tone and gradually they just went with the fortnite style. And many more mistakes like never actually fixing their game, changing kits for no reason, unbalanced gods, getting rid of limited T5 skin, etc. Also by the time I started playing the game barely had any CC, these days Smite is all about CC which makes the whole game just frustating to play espcially if you a queuing solo. That being said, I've stopped playing smite, in late 2023, keep in mind that used to be my main game for years and I've easily spent 400$ on that game in the early years I have like 5 limited T5 skin (the real T5 skins not the new unlimited ones). I've stopped buying gems in like 2019 I think, because I started seeing their decline and each year that went by, they just proved me right. So I need to thank LowRez for their bad decisions because I'm sure I would've keep spending my money into that game forever... Oh and the ultimate move that finally made me quit smite for good was when they announced smite 2 and our skins weren't coming.
I made the transition to league a few months ago. Wish I switched years ago lol Smite was an adventure, but im saying goodbye to an old friend and hello to the future o7
Idk personally, i always comeback to smite atleast bi annually, but when they announced theres gonna be a smite 2, with all the stuff that involves idk it made me not comeback since then
Yeah used to watch a couple years back but honestly it’s a combo of yeah the game sucks but also we’re all getting older. Like having a life means you can’t sit and watch streams and watch videos, which means we don’t stay up to date with the game and start to suck. So then we suck and the game sucks…hard to want to suffer during my free time after working a full time job and having a wife….should I choose a shitty experience or my wife lol we’re just getting older and smite is not attracting young new players. When I first started playing smite I made $8 an hour living with my parents. Now I got wife and a nice house. Why would I spend my small amount of free time playing smite by myself just cause I got $3k worth of skins when I could play cod with my friends for a couple hours a week and have a good time.
This is a big part of it. When i started playing Smite I was a sophomore in high school. I had absolutely nothing better to do than spend all my money I earned working as a cashier for $11/hr on skins, and spend all day playing. Well, now I’m working on my masters degree and working a part time job to pay rent. There is literally no reason for me to play smite or watch smite content anymore, and the state of the game just reinforces that for me. Not to mention the fact that I could probably ask 100 high schoolers if they’ve heard of smite and maybe 3 or 4 of them would tell me they have. Our numbers are simply not being replaced. All games die, and Smite had a good long run, but I honestly don’t see how they come back from this one.
So accurate, I started playing this game in high school and it was my main game for so many (too many) years since it was the only cross play option my PC friends wanted to play with me. Now I not only have a PC but I've been out of college for several years and work a full time job, needless to say I haven't even touched Smite since last year
I miss the old smite days, man I've watched every video you have made for years. It's sad. I haven't played smite or smite 2 in probably 6 months. It feels terrible.
I've been a youtube frog for years. I'd rather play games myself than watch a stream with my limited time. Honesty, your humor and personality sell you. Branch out to other games. I would like to see you play other games to get the life back into your videos. Could tell a long time ago that you were over Smite.
DoubleJ part of it is your attitude while playing the game. The rants can be funny when they're creative and off the cuff but the negativity does not bring viewers back. I saw another comment along this line too, it's not a dig at you just psychology while viewing. Love you tho I hope things improve.
Bro it’s the players I promise you I’m the Enemy team in Weakns Nemesis video bro they screamed, Cried and tried to quit the entire time and I felt like the Only one who wanted to Win!!!
Players have a hard time differentiating an alpha vs a finished game i recognize its an alpha but the fact that its playable at all has put up a mental wall in my head of not wanting to play smite 1 because smite 2 is a thing so its rough
Glad you have other investments. They really did screw everything up. No matchmaking (and they put RANKED in the game) makes it unplayable. I was excited to finally be able to go to my first worlds/lan and it’s insanely expensive for seemingly no reason. I was kinda burnt on Smite 1 after 10 years but this game just isn’t ready. Some of the gods they’ve chosen to put in early is super causal leaning and bizarre for what they claim is going to be a competitive game. Just a bunch of bad decisions but I’m enjoying playing when friends are on and hope the game survives long enough to eventually be good
Get yourself into doing single player play throughs and see how you get on. Be it RPGS or more story driven high quality cinematic games etc. might be the best time to jump into that kind of thing
SoloDolo I have been around since the beta, and I have played with you and against you in ranked. I quit smite about 3 years ago and when I saw the tell tell signs that HiRez was about to HiRez and fuck up a thing they spent 10 years unfucking. You and a few others have plenty of personality to stream whatever you want and make a living doing it. It will be rough at first, but screw it what do you have to lose. You go down with the ship and get a 9-5, or you fail at variety and have to get a 9-5. May as well have an upside to the struggle. I will say that playing high ranked masters games with you guys was as much fun as I have ever had in gaming. And I remember what you were like when you were vibing and enjoying the game and making content. Bring it back bubba. Meditate on what can bring you peace and joy and pursue it daily. Much love SMITE community it was great while it lasted. If SMITE 2 turns out to be a banger I will be back with the masses.
I stopped playing smite the moment smite 2 was announced and we were told all the money we spent on smite 1 is gone. So many people just gave up on smite completely I watched Mast play a smite 2 game last week which is the first game of smite 2 I've seen. I didn't notice enough of a difference to need it be a new game and even Mast said its not changed enough. Simply put. They want money and now they've lost it all. There's no recovering from this
Do variety content SoloJ!!! I seen sledge comment a big paragraph about how he noticed that when you play it almost doesn’t seem enjoyable anymore. Like you only do it because it’s your job. But getting out into other game genres might freshen up the algorithm and audience you bring in. I always loved watching you play smite when I was in high school, ( I’d be in college right now) but it seems like you might need a little reset in the gaming community! Everyone does once in a while.. especially when playing a game for so long.. I started watching this other creator named Mast who does some variety content. He started playing Predecessor. You should try it!!!❤
I will say RedShell came up as an OW only streamer/youtuber and he branched out to more random game and reaction content and he’s been doing well with it. If you go all in and get off of Smite, I think you will be fine and grow bigger than you are now over time
This is just an opinion, I could be wrong because it's based only on personal experience, but I feel like a lot of us played so much Smite over the years that we simply continue playing it out of habit. It's super hard to enter another game, that has been around for a longer amount of time. I tried a few but the learning curve takes too long and I don't have that much time or patience anymore. I just want to enjoy the game, but there is no joy when you get constantly destroyed by players who are simply playing the game longer. And thus, we just come back to Smite. Hoping it will be better. Maybe in the next season. But it's the same story in nearly every match. In half of my matches some dude insta-locks a Nu WA and 9/10 times feeds his brains out. Someone is crying about how warriors are unbalanced, or some god in the match just bursts so hard that it is impossible to do anything about him (I'm talking about you, Susano). Then there are these occasional cringer teams that pick the most cancerous gods, making the whole match just unplayable (todays cringers had Afro, Kezenbo, Susano, Rat + something else; twice; guess how much that was to play). On the Other hand I have recently played quite a few single player games, like DOOM series, The Witcher 3 + explansions, Tomb Raider (3 games), Metro (3 games), Titanfall, The Evil Within 2, The Entire Wolfenstein series!!! and a few more. Now I have Batman series on my list, and I just started Cyberpunk 2077. And omg those games felt so refreshing compared to Smite. I really enjoyed myself. It's a feeing that I don't get in Smite anymore. And It's a shame, because it wasn't always like that. Best wishes guys, and babes!
idk what they expected when they decided to try to charge a dedicated community to a free game, money to play the new game that is supposed to be the "upgrade" smite 2 would have had a way better start and maybe way more viewership if they allowed it to be f2p
I play two games mainly; smite and destiny And it’s crazy how both franchises have those devs that are passionate and love what they do, but higher ups (on both games respectively) have layed off employees and in a sense in a life support state And in the darkness it’s like they hit the switch. Buts how both games I love are going through similar stuff
No joke, try what Spiffing Brit did in one of his videos. Speed up the video so that it can be watched at 0.25 speed. Not saying for every video but it would be a cool experiment. It should in theory quadruple the watch hours of your video tricking the algorithm to recommend it more.
I stopped playing smite when FF7R came out this year, and I haven’t come back really. I found that other games have simply been more worthy of my time recently. I hope smite 2 can become a smash hit and everything goes great in the end, but if they don’t I’m just happy I left on my own terms
Genuine question, if Smite content is something you are still open to and just would like for it to make sense again from a content and joy perspective... Have you ever spoken with Brutal Maglini Time? I think if you and Snort really talked you guys could come up with a very mutually beneficial system. Their insane, gamebreaking approach seems to border your interest areas of Smite. I also think you have the face and personality that could elevate the concepts. Maybe you contribute to the discovery and execution of bugs. They get to keep their montages while you look for the one big game where the bug gets put on display while also having some entertaining commentary. I understand some of the bugs require some boring or even annoying communication to execute, but nobody would be mad at you for doing a voiceover after the fact of some gameplay. Idk DoubleJ, I'm just spitballing. You're one of my favorite creators of all time. I know there is a route for you to grow in or out of Smite. I know you expressed a passion for a complete shift in content after Ludwig reviewed your channel. If that's something you know in your heart you want to pursue, make a second channel. Live on your savings for a year or two while you go hard doing whatever creative things you've thought up over the years. I know it would suck to scrap the subs and everything on this channel, but a second channel would allow people who are actually interested to shift over and you wouldnt be punished algorithmically. I just love your content and I think you have the personality and humor for it. I want you to be able to do this as long as you want man. I'm the guy who tried to help you with your PC crashing on Twitter under this same handle. I've worked with DarkViperAU, BGKumbi and Oompaville in the past on everything from Electronics/Setup help to keyboards to trends and content execution. I would help in any way I could if you wanted. Best of luck DoubleJ ❤
Smite has always been on a steady downward trajectory. I played from season 2 up to about 2 years ago actively. I still hopped om lln and off to test new released content but never actually played properly. I also haven't been into mobas/pvp games for a while now either. Edit: hoping double j switches hus content up after this and grows even more.
I quit smite for like 3 years and I recently came back and I'm loving smite one. Smite two on the other hand... I can play the same god for tens or hundreds of hours but facing the same 5 gods is so boring. I hate the shop, I dislike the strength/int system, and the jungle feels dead. Leveling feels so slow and I really enjoy the current meta on smite one so all the changes to the jungle being reverted in smite 2 feel so bad. Only 4 buff camps on each side of the map leaves support without one every game which feels bad and they're on a 180 second cooldown. Invades are so strongly encouraged because buff camps spawn so late.
Started Smite in 8th grade (end of S4 start of S5), quit (around Season 9/10) and only play like once or twice a year now after playing Smite for a few years. You were the first person I watched and one of the only people I stuck with but after I quit and my passion died, saw your passion die, saw the same problem for years never get changed or half ass steps to do it, I stopped watching you too. Not really by choice, but because I didn't care about Smite and could tell you and many other creators stopped caring too. I remember way back when, I wanna say you were doing Path of Exile streams occasionally; which obviously variety is scary because as you mentioned the UA-cam algorithm more then likely won't push your different content on this channel at least not effectively. There's always the second channel route, which is risky too but its somewhere to put your focus with variety like League, Deadlock and any other game you decide to indulge in and you can post Smite stuff here as they continue to release stuff or you think of things you wanna do. Personally I'd for sure watch again if you did variety, I think it'd be fun and refreshing to see you play and learn new games and improve at them and if its what you and your friends are having fun doing I don't see how it could be bad content because me and most of my friends watched you and kept watching you cause your videos were just you having senseless fun doing something wacky with your friends and viewers. I say why not, plus you actually having fun on your channel and Twitch streams would bring back some life and engagement to your community that I feel like it lost over the years due to Smite not really changing for the better and becoming as you mentioned, a job more then a hobby. Hoping to see you stick with content creation either way.
The lack of in game text chat and any matchmaking at all (even in ranked) are the main issues for me and everyone I play with. Everyone I know would rather have longer queue times with some sort of actual matchmaking. It's just sad they make these terrible decisions and expect the game to flourish.
I was on that hype train. But there's nothing really to draw me in. I think the reason I bought smite 2 was FOMO. But there's nothing to draw me in at the moment. They needed to be closer to done before "open" beta.
I think smite2 will be ok next year. The problem is they needed to wait a year to make it good and then show us. But just hang on ❤ your beautiful your one of the kind smile more ❤
11:56 i have a feeling as to why they got rid of the Art department: call me a tin-foiled hat conspiracy theorist, but i personally believe they gonna start using AI to develop skins. It's the only thing that would make sense, they just don't wanna come out and say it. That's how they're gonna drive up their profits: A.I. does the work for far cheaper than a human could, considering they don't have to pay a computer to do a majority of the work.
I think out of all the hirez games, the only game i have confidence in is smite. The idea's great and i think they're right to focus on working on it. Its another thing if they'll pull it off or not. But hey, smite has somehow survived for a long while, who's to say it wont do it again.
idk about yall but i wanna see DoubleJ do something else. I LOVE Dark Souls Double J and I have stayed subbed for so long because he is a great content creator and bro I wanna see you do something with another game franchise. you make any video other than Smite, I'll watch it. feels like nobody else will but damnit i will
I wish you would stay with Smite 2 till it irons out the kinks, you’re one of the best creators out here for Smite, do like an attack speed Herc video or something crazy
Ngl makes me feel so terrible to see the community diminishing like this
Not sure if they changed it back or not, but making every game take 30+ minutes (not conquest) was a massive mistake; especially when you get punished for leaving.
They were never good at keeping players. For years now the player count is basically nothing
Back to smite 1
I watched my brother play Smite when I was younger and I've finally gotten into it myself as of a couple days ago :( I hope the game doesn't die. I'm having a lot of fun
Actually, SMITE 2 is showing incredible performance all across the board. This game will skyrocket in the coming weeks and will overtake League of Legends in Korea, and HiRez will learn from their mistakes and finally maintain a game's popularity for more than 2 weeks. I'm sure of it! 😃
Calm down myth some of the spite spilled on me
You're kidding right?
Tell us how you really feel Myth lol
I love sarcasm!
Minkyman what’re you doing here!?
W feedback.
If you want to become a political streamer, well I think that would be the most entertaining choice you could make.
thank you for taking your time and putting effort into commenting this.
very well said and i also agree 100%.
Man I remember watching him do his how to plays where he jus memes with the vid and talks in a goofy voice lol
i played smite back in s1 maybe even before i was like 7 years old.
Exactly this
@@ronaldvexdian2182 SMITE 2 is an upgrade (though I'd argue there are a few things that just feel worse), but it just feels like incomplete IMO. And unlike Overwatch, the playerbase isn't nearly as big to where this can be ignored. Overwatch Blizzard got lucky and have a "too big to fail" size playerbase. Not to mention, the money of Blizzard, Activision, AND Microsoft behind Overwatch.
Yea except Overwatch will always be popular , smite 2 could kill hi rez and make the company go bankrupt
Overwatch 2 just feels like a joke of a game, just an excuse to "re-introduce" the game by making it seem new when it never was and probably never was going to be with the pve that they "planned"
Squidwards face in the back says it all
you can tell smite is dead and the higher ups wont take accountability because of the layoffs imo, the fact that Stew has been in control of the death of like 8 other games under the Hirez banner but instead of him stepping down or being replaced, they layoff half the core dev team thats been around for a decade. to me that shows theyd rather commit corporate suicide than ever admit fault or restructure management
But doubleJ is the best smite youtuber out there
To be fair those are problems with the community, I don't know how you can blame that on Hirez
i play smite pretty religiously and i come across unplayable games like once every 20 games. I think thats just a low elo thing
@@kjkent.3738i disagree. I have more hours on this game than I’d like to admit and am high ranked in every mode. But damn the amount of toxic people or the people who have been rage quitting is insane. I had to quit playing a month ago.
Mid elo + playing with someone you know makes the game much more bearable lol
Squidward really does tie it all together
What? 😂
I play smite since s3.. i have 11k hours... and im still playing smite 1.
Right now im queing assault and still having much fun.
I care a lottt more about having fun, than new graphics with flashy special effects and crap.
I could play smite 1 for another 10 years like this without any issues
my favorite memory is that time the camera zoomed in on your toes
personally i'm optimistic for the game's future, the main issue is GETTING THERE. when the game is f2p, there are more gods, and there's a pro league again, they should do a massive advertising campaign to really get the ball rolling again
Game won't physically have enough money to do any of that.
@@MrWEST1 okay!

@@HardStuckinGold WE LOVE A POSITIVE KING
@@HardStuckinGold Cyberpunk had Keanu Reeves what does Smite have? VTubers?💀
Thank you for doing my Jorm request so many months ago. Love you man.
Hi Rez really screwed the pooch on the timing and release of smite 2 honestly!
I quit after they killed tribes. I refuse to support Hi-Rez. They're a shitty company.
Exactly
I'm part of the problem, once people started playing smite 2 I didn't want to watch smite 1, then smite 2 just doesn't have enough yet so I don't want to watch it. An now I'm out of date on balance cause i dont play for the same reasons, an now im stuck in a loop of I don't want to watch or play either and it sucks.
Gone back to smite 1 … so much faster and more to do
Bro, been watching you for yearsss because of smite but you got a hilarious personality anything you do with that same legit personality you will thrive in. I use certain slang with my friends cuz of you, certain jokes, you’re a legit good, genuine, and hilarious man! Chase whatever dream you got whatever you truly want to do and don’t look back just forward.
-Message from a 23 year old nobody with big dreams from Bakersfield CA
like everyones been saying they should have done another smite 1 season then release smite 2 had 50 gods and in a better state.
I have 5000 hours in S1, but i give S2 a Chance and its nice too.
i have played/watched so much smite(like thousands of hours) they really said lets forget our best game we have ever had to put all our time into this game that isn't even done yet and hope people like it as much as our successful game. smite 2 doesn't even look like fun to play( smite was also a struggle sometime too. ) I'm just sad that they have pulled the plug on smite and possibly gonna kill smite 2 before it even makes it out of alpha.
My experience so far with Smite too is it's actually been pretty fun to play . The only god I've had any annoyance with really besides Baron being over buffed is kuku he just feels bad. But that might be fixed next patch later today.
Tbh jj play whatever smite, league or whatever I’ll watch because you make the video funny and the game look fun (legit started playing smite because of you and came back)
Hey man really appreciate you leaving in that burp, great content!
When you did that one wacky build. It was a good one!
yeah solo i love you always have been watching you for as long as ive been playing smite like 7 years man i never comment often but ive legit always enjoyed the content and try to watch as much as possible and i do believe smite 2 will improve and get more viewer ship its smite itll bounce back but till then ill def be checking out youre stream homie
I adore your channel and I love Smite, I really hope Smite2 gets on board again and you keep doing well baby 🥰
No matter wich video you upload I'll watch you (it will be really interesting watching you play story games like SH2, etc)
DEAD LOCK would be a new untapped vein for smite youtubers
Yeah, I agree with you; it feels meh. I was playing Smite 2 when it came out but stopped playing a month ago. I am still playing Smite 1 here and there.
Haven't played the game three years and getting back into it.Only play assault on smite. Feels like it's almost a fair game and less toxic
I stopped playing smite twice and tried to pick it back up middle of last year, gave it a good few months then stopped for good its hard to play a game that reakly hasn't changed in so long its a solid game but multiplayer games do just die either by stuido by a swift axe or a slow trickle at least it lasted this long
Here for what ever content you like to do man. The wacky stuff is what is fun. Its different. Even deadlock it’s fun to try different
Stay strong JJ 💪
Overall Smite 2 has been a waste of 30 dollars for me.
@@lesstalk2239 man's mad because he has the reading comprehensive of a 5 year old, Read the first line again
@@lesstalk2239yong yea in part 6 tho
W video, I ain’t been playing hardly any smite these past 6 months
Just a bunch of bad decisions but I’m enjoying playing when friends are on and hope the game survives long enough to eventually be good
I do love trolling in my ranked games as a support never gets old ❤
Get yourself into doing single player play throughs and see how you get on.
🎉🎉 appreciate you btw Double J
I miss the “idiot plays” series. It was soooo good! Hopeful you figure it out! Love your content.
I stopped playing smite the moment smite 2 was announced and we were told all the money we spent on smite 1 is gone. So many people just gave up on smite completely
I watched Mast play a smite 2 game last week which is the first game of smite 2 I've seen. I didn't notice enough of a difference to need it be a new game and even Mast said its not changed enough. Simply put. They want money and now they've lost it all. There's no recovering from this
to be fair they did say that they are going to really bump up the god releases
The U.I feels clunky, convoluted and messy to me but it might be just being used to the Smite 1 interface
idk what they expected when they decided to try to charge a dedicated community to a free game, money to play the new game that is supposed to be the "upgrade" smite 2 would have had a way better start and maybe way more viewership if they allowed it to be f2p
I play two games mainly; smite and destiny
And it’s crazy how both franchises have those devs that are passionate and love what they do, but higher ups (on both games respectively) have layed off employees and in a sense in a life support state
And in the darkness it’s like they hit the switch.
I used to watch your videos every day. Now I rarely see anything on my feed from you. Hopefully smite pulls it out and becomes more popular.
On Steam Smite only has 1000 more players than Paladins right now
Idk if anybody here played paladins but what happened to paladins is what it seems like is happening to smite and it’s very sad to watch
Persona 5 music gets me every time i love it so much
Matching making was definitely the problem
I feel terrible that I always miss your streams. I work way too many hours in a week. I've watched all the youtube vids from day one.
Invades are so strongly encouraged because buff camps spawn so late.
take the mythymoo route, play what you want DoubleJ
I was excited for smite 2, but having to pay for a not polished game deterred me so I stuck to the finals
They needed to make a new game or something that plays like a new game. It’s tough to see the community shrinking man
I was on that hype train. But there's nothing really to draw me in. I think the reason I bought smite 2 was FOMO. But there's nothing to draw me in at the moment. They needed to be closer to done before "open" beta.
my goat fr
U should still make smite 1 gameplay
I think out of all the hirez games, the only game i have confidence in is smite. The idea's great and i think they're right to focus on working on it. Its another thing if they'll pull it off or not. But hey, smite has somehow survived for a long while, who's to say it wont do it again.
idk about yall but i wanna see DoubleJ do something else. I LOVE Dark Souls Double J and I have stayed subbed for so long because he is a great content creator and bro I wanna see you do something with another game franchise. you make any video other than Smite, I'll watch it. feels like nobody else will but damnit i will
Still love your content and like to watch you. It is just very sad to see the state of Smite (2).
I wish you would stay with Smite 2 till it irons out the kinks, you’re one of the best creators out here for Smite, do like an attack speed Herc video or something crazy
