tThis video saved me from having to buy new headphones after I accidentally broke the ribbon cable in another repair. Thanks so much (after shorting the Bluetooth connection), works perfectly!
before doing all this why not try the simple stuff? the sensor used is just wedged in place with a rubber bung - check that it hasnt slipped. Move a strong magnet around where the ear piece holder twists - on the earpiece side. you can see the cover that holds the magnet in place on the headband, the sensor is opposite that. if you can trigger the on/off with a magnet held to that point then the issue is probably either the magnet has fallen out or the sensor has slipped. accesss the sensor by removing the speaker from the bracket and trace the cable as it passes up to the headband. the ribbon cable is behind the black cable. carefully pull out the black cable until you can access the rubber wedge holding the sensor in place. reposition sensor and its fixed
Hi, thanks for the tutorial, very helpful. I followed every step but forgot to short the Bluetooth connection. On reopening to do it, I unvoluntarily pulled the red cable off the pointer next to the magnetic cable connection. This pointer is now gone unfortunately. Do you know if there is any other pointer I could connect it to?
Clear tutorial, thank you for this video. However perhaps it will be better if you put some tape after soldering the wires to the test pads on the board. These pads are very easy to tear out, and tape will prevent it to happen and ensure the longevity of your repair. Also I saw you didn't short the bluetooth switch, is it working without doing it ?
Thank you so much for the advice 😊 For me it is working without shoring the bluetooth button, I haven't tried with shorting. If you are doing, please let me know.
great tutorial but forgot to mention to short out the pads for the bluetooth switch in order to get working bluetooth, had to re open and short it out!
@@diyeasy_in What needs shorting out please, Ive done the mod exact as per the video but bluetooth not working - did u amend the video to suit tobias Berglund's comment - if not why doesnt bluetooth work Or can you precisely indicate what needs to be shorted and where - on switch or on the connector that would have gone to the sensor ? BTW: It appears the mod goes to the ground of the bluetooth antenna - is that ground needed to bias a transistor to turn on the power whilst maybe affecting the bluetooth signal - could a highish value resistor in that line be ok. Reason I ask is of the 12 times I tried to get bluetooh working I got an ID on my phone but, it dropped out. I expect that before the mod the magnetic switch is biased all the time with the bluetooth switch only turning on bluetooth - meaning that in normal unmodded operation the magnet sensor applies power to the whole system such as for headphone plug operation... A before and after circuit of that section would be helpful, do you know what specific sensor so I can check the data sheet as to which pin is which ? Thanks
Shall I understand that the problem is with the ribbon connector that becomes unreliable, so soldering the switch directly on the board ensure good electric connection? Thanks.
I offered to try to fix this model for a friend of mine. He tried to open it, when it already had issues, and then he said he broke the cable. I now suspect that it was already weakened and is a design error. It can't handle the frequent rotation and snaps after a while of use.
I have these headphones and i accidentally dropped them from a good height and they stopped working. The case is cracked but I think they can be repaired, but I cannot find anything can you help me to find how or where I can get them repaired ?
Fuck this headphones, my on/off switch stopped working completely but it’s too much of a hassle to fix. I’ll just invest in another brand and never look back at Sennheiser.
I dropped my bt450 headphones in water now the power button isn't working and the light stays blue, when charging it becomes purple and won't connect to my phone. Please help
I disable the switch and connect oryginal tape to test old connection but the light still blinking, i test them before reparing and they work, now is crap. I have diferent circut and number of board then on the video

my case was a mechanical damage to the switch, and you have a problem with flooding, and that's the worst, you probably have burnt elements on the control board. Either replace the board or buy new headphones
I have the same isssue. been about a yr since inlost the magnet... will nvr buy that crappy brand again...someone make me an offer it comes with the case no cables
Thanks a lot for this fix!! Works again fine! 🎉
For me, I have to short the BT to make it active.

This is a very informative video to illustrate why I will never buy another Sennheiser headset with this ridiculous design. Holy crap.

Very good suggestion, we can try that aslo ❤️
That’s simple? Wtf!!!! I admire you though

If you're asking what I think you're asking. The part in which the ribbon cable plugs in can be used for that.
What do you do if the gold circle pad beside the ribbon clip comes off? 😭😮💨😬
I soldered it together, but it popped off... Ugh.

is there any way that u can replace the headband as the cushion seems in very bad condition
Awesome details man! Does that switch have anything to do with the battery not charging properly?

Sorry, thanks for the correction
no problem really great tutorial anyway ;)

@@nichevl need too short out where the bluetooth where connected so to speak if you know wath i mean
where the switch where attached from the beginning, just bridge it with some solder
Hi, is the pxc i vs II the same?
Yes, almost same
works also on PXC 550-II
Yeah mate I tried it but couldn’t get the positive to stick and ended up melting the connection point of
In the bin
Cheers for the info though

Seems to me like the magnet fell out so he might have been the one to actually rip the cable
