I have seen this sentence on the cover of barron's book... A guide to developing.... Can you expain when we use the word to and gerund in a sentence? Your explanation will be a big help
Of course. We appreciate your quest. The gerund is a verb-form which functions as a noun. In this regard, we need to consider whether "to" is used as 'PREPOSITION' or 'INFINITIVE'. If we can sensibly utilize a noun after "to" then we should use Gerund (Noun = Verb + ing) where "to" works as a preposition. Otherwise, we need to use an infintive (Infinitive = to + Verb) where "to" works as an infinitive without being an indiviudal grammatical identity. e.g. 1. The book is a complete guide to developing an effective style of writing. i.e. the book is a complete guide towards (to) the development of an effective style of writing. So, "developing" is a noun here, when "to" functions as a preposition. Here, "to" is not a part of Gerund rather "to" represents a separate grammatical identity which is known as PREPOSITION. 2. The book helps us to develop an effective style of writing. Here, "to" is included in the INFINITIVE (to + verb) and does not work as an individual grammatical identity like preposition does. Therefore, we use "to" and Gerund in a sentence when "to" acts as a PREPOSITION and the word (verb-form + ing) acts as a NOUN. Thank you.

Your video is commendable. But please talk properly with good accent. Sometimes I am mislead listening to ur words. For example the way u say exacerbate. You are trying to be a native english speaker but seriously ur accent is not clear enough to be understood. You do it with lot of difficulties pronouncing them though. Please speak with a very normal Indian accent and of course it's easy to learn without any irritation.
