Thanks so much. This is a great tip that no one talks about. This literally fixes my toss problem that I've been trying to fix for years. I usually toss the ball when my weight shifts backward, and most of my tosses ended up behind me to the left. It takes some practice to get used to this new rhythm. But the end result is astounding.
This just confirms my suspicion that the more stable I am milliseconds before hitting the ball gives me more consistency, accuracy without sacrificing power. Thanks for the tip!
Amazing help. When you toss afer loading the toss becomes very easy as well as cracking the ball. Tossing at any other time throws the whole serve off. This video makes the art of serving so much easier and consistent.
Great tip!!! This is what I was looking for and struggling with... As others mentioned it improved my toss consistency, rhythm and as a result my serve confidence :-) Thanks a lot, keep going!
Very insightful and careful analysis of the importance of weight transfer and good balance during the serve. Well done. I especially liked the emphasis on leaning forward before beginning to move backwards. I teach ten and under kids, and I have them start like that, "looking over the cliff" I call it, and it really helps with the momentum and creating more effortless power.
Great tip. Thank you. Could you also incorporate the thinking of, as you are going through the forward movement, how you incorporate hips and maximum knee bend to generate extra power? Thanks for your time
Awesome vid! Seems easy but I was having trouble when to release the ball in my motion and I hadn’t heard anyone else suggest to toss when you are starting to rock back forward. Thanks!
Nadim, if you release the ball as you’re going forward this means you have to reload your back leg. If you don’t reload the back leg there’s no momentum going into the serve. By releasing the ball going forward ( equal weight on both feet ) you then have to double hitch to reload the back foot because you’re releasing the ball as you go forward. This doesn’t seem like a smooth motion; I have to double-clutch. Surely, I have to return the weight to my back foot to load up my serve because all my weight is headed back in the direction of my front foot. This means my toss has to be very high in order for me to return to the loading phase. I have a lower toss ( as you advise ). Releasing the ball with all my weigh headed back towards the front foot means I have to reload the back foot (again) the to get momentum going into contact. So, what you’re advising seems to add a hitch into my serve motion. Maybe I just misunderstood. My question: After I release the toss going with weight headed forward ( weight equal on both feet ) don’t I have to reload my back foot under the toss? From the video it doesn’t look like you do this. Please advise!
Lots of servers, even on the tour level, have suspect tosses. 4:05. "if you toss the ball up and you can pick up either leg, you're balance is off." Many many pinpoint servers mess this up. You'll see it when they have a kind of double-bump flow in their serve. They actually extend their body up twice in the motion: once to toss, then they load, then they serve. Their tosses are all over the place. 4:44. You're right, it happens all the time. Shapovolov has a terribly disjointed toss from the rest of his motion. It's actually not that uncommon. His toss is all over the place at the moment, and he's double faulting like crazy.
Agree with other folks , why no one really talk about when to toss ? I have been struggling with when to toss question for quite sometime now :| , thanks a lot for the tip and cant wait to try this on court :)
Interesting you say most of the weight should be on front leg prior to contact, it's what confuses me most, Rick Macci seems to suggest all the weight on the back foot!?
At the moment I'm rebuilding my serve using the basic serve progressions on the serve blueprint. Do u think I should implement this as I am trying to improve my shoulder turn, toss and right to left motion?
This is nonsense. The weight should be on the back leg for a powerful serve as it is for a powerful throw. This is simple physics of which tennis instructors are completely ignorant. And another example of such ignorance with this video.
Totally agree with you,, Rick Macci and Kovacs are right on that topic. No power if you start initiating drive to contact point of the front foot, and only purpose of the back foot is for rhythm as opposed to horizontal weight transfer, and vertical torso rotation,, agree - nonsense
Stop using the word "effortless", it is so effortless to you, you can effortless forehand, effortless backhand, effortless everything, you can win grand slam effortless. The word make viewer feel stupid.

“Toss with your weight going forward” is a brilliant insight. Prevents toss falling behind your head ! Wow! Thanks a ton Nadim.
This is totally game changer. As a beginner, I've been struggling with my toss for some time. Thanks coach!
I've adopted this service motion, and I have better consistency, tempo, and rhythm now! Thank you Nadim!
This just confirms my suspicion that the more stable I am milliseconds before hitting the ball gives me more consistency, accuracy without sacrificing power. Thanks for the tip!
tried this when I played last night and I served much better, really helps with rhythm, timing and ball toss...many thanks!
Lovely. A simple but very informative step in learning to serve more consistently. Thank You.

Best tennis tip on the serve. Simple but effective
Wow, been working on my serve since last summer with all the extra time with the pandemic. This is a great tip that I think is going to help. Thanks
thank you, rhythm and relax is the key of effortless serve
Great tip!!! This is what I was looking for and struggling with... As others mentioned it improved my toss consistency, rhythm and as a result my serve confidence :-) Thanks a lot, keep going!
Great tip! I’m one of those who tend to toss while still transferring my weight backwards. I’ll be trying this out in my next training!
Like your teaching method on the serve. You're a terrific coach. Thanks for tip, as I struggle with toss from time to time.
I have been struggling with my served for longtime because of switching from one position to another. great tip. thank you.

Luv u bruv
I've been needing this tip so badly!!
WoW, toss on the way weight going backward, never heard that before, great great tips
Great tip...it changes the consistency of the toss and so my serve
Great tip! I'm going to work on this rhythm and motion. Thank you.
Hi thanks so much this is a effortless way because we also have to start to get to the trophy position balanced.
Great tip. Thank you. Could you also incorporate the thinking of, as you are going through the forward movement, how you incorporate hips and maximum knee bend to generate extra power?
Thanks for your time
Nadim, you are the best!
This is so true. I think in my head... Put my ear to my bicep as I toss and it magically helps everything fall in line.
Awesome vid! Seems easy but I was having trouble when to release the ball in my motion and I hadn’t heard anyone else suggest to toss when you are starting to rock back forward. Thanks!
Outstanding! 'nuff said.
Thank you!! No one really sheds I light on this. Why tosses go behind you!
"Not very exciting?" Are you crazy? Fantastic tip!!
thanks for sharing. Great video!
Excellent tip. Thanks!
Very nice tip. Well done.

I agree. It may not be correct, but I toss the ball with weight on the back foot so that when I go into loading phase more weight is on that foot.
This helped a lot. Thank you.
Beautiful serve tip.
Awesome points

Great explanation ! By far the best about the toss time +++

Very very good tip...and ive been wondering exactly how it is being taught....since i learned it!
Interesting you say most of the weight should be on front leg prior to contact, it's what confuses me most, Rick Macci seems to suggest all the weight on the back foot!?
Great advice! Can anyone help me on when I should initiate my backswing on my serve? I'm kinda doing it right after I toss the ball right now.
Hope someone answered you in person : )
But anyway, I start my backswing at the same time as my toss. It's like a scissor motion
Very good tip
Great.Thank you.
Thank you very much truly a helpful insight
Nice tip
Should my weight be mostly on my front foot when I start the racquet drop to go for the serve?
Great tip
At the moment I'm rebuilding my serve using the basic serve progressions on the serve blueprint. Do u think I should implement this as I am trying to improve my shoulder turn, toss and right to left motion?
Amazing!!
When you go to your backfoot in the serve, do you transfer all of your weight on that foot or would it be an even amount of weight?
WOW excellent
you are doing the same when you are trying to hit a kick serve and having your toss more to the left and behind?
Good advice ...
helpful, thank you
I will try this!
good video
thanks

If the instructor can demonstrate at least one complete serve, the video will be better.
This is nonsense. The weight should be on the back leg for a powerful serve as it is for a powerful throw. This is simple physics of which tennis instructors are completely ignorant. And another example of such ignorance with this video.
