You're right, PROUD was the first word that came to my mind the first time I watched this performance. Back then, when Halle was announced as the new Ariel, she received so much hate and harassment from racists everywhere. But this performance just proved to the world that she was the perfect choice for Ariel ❤️
She nailed this! 😍🔥As I watched her sing it reminded me that representation matters. Halle's performance means so much to little girls of color. It lets them know that "the standard of beauty" is no longer the standard. They are able to see themselves in Halle and know that they can rock their natural hair and brown skin and still be beautiful. ❤
