As much as I’m looking foreword to biking the trail that I’m sure is coming it’s such a bonehead move to get rid of this and pretty much all the other small lines that they have over the years. Now the population in the areas the served and ran between have grown so much you can almost bet a good passenger service on most of these would draw people in
@@jackdough8164 I am sure you may find some loose remnants of the railroad while your riding on the trail. You may just find some spikes or insulators.
Hi Tyler; Thanks for the nice retrospective on this newly fallen flag railway. CTF said it completely. We will miss it indeed. I would bet $$ that CN will want the diamonds ripped out asap for safety reasons. James.
I talked to the city council about what was gonna happen to the xings and they said that none of them are getting torched as accurate rail was the contractor that removed the tracks and the city is keeping them because they are putting a memorial park beside trail in memory of the railway.
Sad to see the OBRY go. I've lived in Brampton for 20 years and frequently would railfan at the Brampton GO station, just east of the OBRY diamond. Saw trains on the OBRY quite a number of times...pretty much always less than 10 cars, and often less than 5, so I can't say I'm completely surprised the line is shutting down. Still, though, it's sad. I've railfanned my whole life.
Orangeville has started to rip out the track on their end.I noticed last week at the end of the line by the tim hortons on Broadway a crew working on the signals and a machine ripping out the metal track
I do not think they will turn it into a walking trail due to the other line being there, they may do it but they will either make a walkway crossing or keep the line there. I do not know what they would do :(
They can rip up the track, they can pull out the crossings, they can remove the railway but they can never get rid of the memories
Agreed. :(
Agreed
I absolutely agree
@@tylerm666 This needs to be Pinned
rip up the track? worst decision ever. have read articles suggesting this line will be vital for commuter traffic one day
All of the fellow railfans are very, very sad to see the historic railroad go. This was a great line. RIP OBRY 2000 - 2021.
Agreed. :(
Did you know it was also used in the TV show Due South as the train yard in Orangeville before it was burned down and rebuilt
Wow! :(

Each day, more and more tracks get removed in Canada than turning them into hi speed lines or mainlines reducing road vehicles off the road...
Agreed. :(
Great Video! It’s sad to see the railway go 😥
Agreed. Thanks btw. :D

Epic! :D
@@tylerm666I wouldn’t 100% trust it tho
Also on Railroad Street! There is another railway line spur! that was ripped up

That Really Sucks. :(
The rails should be rail banked for future use with a trail beside them.
Agreed. :(
what will they do with all the signals and freight cars
Agreed. :(
Use them in other places or sell them off to others or for scarp

One of my friends told me the line was closing forever on December 17 2021
They are right. :(
Yup that is right and it sucks to see it go as for the ones that killed it I have no kind words about them
The 2 locomotives they used were 333 and obry 1000
Agreed. :(
and at 2:10 thats a weird looking crossing
:( :(
I think in about 10-20 years i feel like it will turn into a cp line maybe
Agreed. :(
thats a good idea
It won't now because the Region of Peel bought the line and is planning to turn it into a public trail
Marry Christmas OBRY. Hopefully you will get to shunt freight cars in the sky..
Agreed. :(
R.I.P OBRY 2000 - 2021:(

It was 333 and a black train
Yup. :D
Or Metrolinx will acquire it and sit on it for 30 years.
I doubted it
There were 2 locomotives they had
WHY! 😭😭😭😭😭
Agreed. :(
Money hungry town council and mayor see no use in having a train running to Orangeville anymore
Agreed. :(
