A misconception from the pre-show discussion Dr. Garaki doesn’t have the quirk to copy quirks, his quirk is the anti aging quirk that makes him live double the average lifespan, he is able to duplicate quirks purely through science, it hasn’t been fully explained how he does it but he’s just that smart he’s able to somehow isolate the quirk factor from a person and duplicate it.
That’s also probably helped by his anti-aging quirk since he can spend way longer actually learning about and studying quirks on top of his genius
It sort of makes sense, because quirks are presumably due to DNA mutation, which is why parents pass down similar quirks to their kids. In real life we have been able to map out and recreate DNA, and put it into other things. So it's honestly not that big of a stretch to think a guy living for 200 years with infinite money & a bestie who can move quirks with his quirk would be able to sequence and duplicate the "quirk gene".
I don't think it needs to be explained tbh, you can just make the dots that quirks are equals to gene traits

Side note, it's a good thing X-Less destroyed that machine. If he hadn't, Shigaraki would've had a large amount of quirk destroying bullets. Now he only has a few. Which is still bad, but it could be worse. Speaking of which, imagine arranging a plan to get the jump on people and then you start losing. That's just sad. Rooting for the villains tbh. Shigaraki is just one of my favs. Oh. And he can control what he decays now. So that's nice.

Crust is a fucking hero, through and through. Man gave his life in the last second to save Aizawa and then let him know that it's fine. Followed the example that All-might set to a T. Aizawa does not have the time to be distracted at the moment as well so just all around big plays.

I told you chaos would come, but that’s just the beginning.
Let’s get into it shall we?
Let’s start with Shigaraki waking up. In the manga? I’m going to be honest, I REALLY appreciated the anime change. They didn’t explicitly show X-less cause Shigaraki’s awakening. They showed him look at the machine, and the moment he did, the spark conveniently woke up Shigaraki. This one was X-less trying to insure the materials that almost made Shigaraki (and then proceeded to actually make Shigaraki) never be used to make another. That is a MASSIVE improvement. Because a number of months ago I was actually looking into how the hell his heart just magically restarted and couldn’t come up with a reason why. Also demonstration of Shigaraki using decay as he pleases, he decays X-Less but not the cape. Old Shigaraki couldn’t have done that. So that’s complete nuance control of the quirk. That is some INSANE nuance from a man who does not know restraint well. Also few things I like about Shigaraki’s design, all his injuries from MVA remain. Something not made clear in the manga. He still has the charred arms from when he destroyed Deika City. And although it wasn’t shown in MVA anime, Redestro tore off Shigaraki’s fingers in the scene where he crushed his hands so he couldn’t decay anymore. (So it’s implied in anime they were just amputated later during his many surgeries and torture training after anime MVA occurred.)
Respect on Tokoyami’s name for escaping Fat Gum. We saw Fat Gum shrug off blades that were building length long in season 4, we know he doesn’t care about bullets, and when Monoma explained why he can’t use stockpile quirks, they showed Fat Gum taking a MISSILE AND NOT CARING ABOUT ITS ACTIVATION LAUNCHED AT WHAT WE ASSUME IS FULL SPEED. And Tokoyami just ESCAPES him. And I hope the dub keeps the original lines of the manga of Fat Gum in this chapter. When Tokoyami escapes and Fat Gum chases him, he says “Don’t think I’ll let ya Dine and Dash on me like that!” And I LOVE that line. And when he almost gets crushed by Mount Lady’s…assets, he says “Some bun’s coming in hot!” And those are just genuinely funny one liners I wish they kept for sub. But dub might.
So actually I should mention why Dabi says you’re pathetic to drag a bunch of students out here. It’s not implying he thinks Tokoyami is weak, especially when we know the League tried to kidnap him. (Which was Compress improv. No one gave any order to do that.) He’s saying it’s pathetic that the heroes in this operation thought they needed STUDENTS on standby. And as all the villains know NOW, this is ALL OUT WAR. And Dabi proceeds to have Tokoyami question what he’s fighting for in protecting the status quo. And when Tokoyami upholds the status quo caring for his teacher, Dabi just gets pissed and says you’re not thinking for yourself. Which…everything Dabi said was sadly true. Much like Stain it’s used in VERY twisted fashion, but I can’t outright disagree with what he says.
I can’t tell you how many people get HYPED for Todoroki on Geten’s entrance I’ve seen already. (Todoroki is helping civilians and I don’t think he’d explode at Mount Lady. It’s funny how I never see someone catch that.) And as we know, Dabi and Geten are actually quite equal in power output minus longevity considering their MVA performance. Not just because Dabi failed to kill Geten, but because the reverse is true too.
Machia is awake. The heroes don’t really have any contingencies in sight for stopping Machia other than stopping Shigaraki from waking up. And we’re already too late for that. Let’s leave it there.
Next we got the evacuation being calm, IMMEDIATELY halted by the BIGGEST chills as OFA the 1st warns ALL the alarm bells for Deku. And what a speech that is. I LOVE IT but my GOD is it freaky. A transcendent one approaches, freed from the shackles of humanity, his power now swells. Stop him. As Deku holds himself from the sheer pressure of the order. That is OFA telling Deku: YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF STOPPING THAT. THAT IS WHAT ALL OF US DO AND HAVE DONE.
Little do people seem to realize something. The final scene to speak of in depth is FILLED with nuance. Here is what the anime has told you. Shigaraki is at 75%. Deku is at 45%. And I’ll ask you this. Of what are we comparing that to? Because if there’s something VERY obvious, if Deku were at 100% and a bit more than twice as strong, would that compare to what we just saw Shigaraki do with decay? I can tell you right now. No. No it would not. We are REALLY getting into what makes my OFA theory. Feel free to disagree, but let me try and prove my point for what we know at this point in anime.
I have tried to tell people Deku can’t POSSIBLY be learning 1% at a time based on just how GIGANTIC of a difference there is from each increase in %, and there’s no way it can be Deku starting from All-Might power. (All-Might kinda proved that by MANHANDLING Deku and saying Deku’s 100% blasts are a 5 out of 100 in season 2.) And because of that, I came up with a system that works best for the story, and I think Horikoshi truly is using this system. As Deku’s max control increases, his stockpile arsenal also increases, all to master what was given to him when he received OFA. 1/60th of what All-Might could do 6 years ago. (If All-Might could only use 1/60th in season 1, I don’t think he could pass the full 60/60 either.) All-Might has a blazing vestige, and OFA is always described as a raging inferno. If that is true, I think the walking inferno man IN OFA likely has a LOT more flames. Can’t use them since he’s crippled and all now. But they ABSOLUTELY seem to be there. (So by my theory Deku is about 1/120th of OFA at its absolute best.) Want to prove me wrong? Tell me when and where Deku’s quirk increased by a MULTIPLICATION OF 60 TIMES. And I’ll wait because when you go to look, you will NOT find one. That being said, Deku at 100% is still in league with MANY top pros as do a number of his classmates. So chances are they’ll redefine pro power later.
Shigaraki on the other hand…proves to be on the spectrum of PRIME AFO. 75% of the FULL 60/60. What was missing in the last 25%? Don’t know, but we’ll see. That decay wave made the United States of Smash look TINY. Probably because it was PRIME vs 1/60th pushed to max. It made DEIKA look small. And is it the best Shigaraki can do? I HIGHLY doubt it. If that ENTIRE LAB was dedicated to giving Shigaraki the quirks of AFO…what we saw…was decay WITHOUT OTHER QUIRKS BEING STACKED. (And I don’t think it was 25% of his quirks are missing. I think that’s what was being forcibly injected into his shock treatment BEFORE he went in the tank.) Oh and he has quirk deleting bullets. Many are gone, but he has a FEW and that’s INSANELY dangerous. The ONLY good thing is that even though Shigaraki must have COUNTLESS quirks, he doesn’t have 200 years of experience using it and practicing quirk usage like AFO. So…even though our main protagonist is about 1/100th of the main antagonist, that would only be for certain the case of Shigaraki was fully mastered of what he has. And as INSANE as the decay demonstration was, that should be ALL he has mastery of.
We are in for a WILD RIDE. I’m still fine tuning my theory as we go, because I’ve been WAITING for these scenes to be animated as this is where it’ll be best to show feat progressions and such.
Well as a manga reader who's caught up, deku basically just needs all his quirks at once to stand up to shiggy currently, and shiggy is quirk sealed. They aren't equals and they don't seem meant to be equals, same as AFO and AM. AFO is way stronger than AM and could easily cause this level of destruction casually but still loses to AM due to (plot) miracles that usually only grace the heroes, or very quick thinking that honestly shouldn't even work most of the time. Think about what ever seen shiggy and AFO take in the manga, AM's USA smash should not have knocked him out, and honestly it probably didn't, leaving shiggy alone to grow solo was kinda a apart of his plan for shiggys cultivation anyway.
@@B3A5TorSomething in many regards I agree. But AFO wouldn’t hunt it down METICULOUSLY if it wasn’t an actual match for him. OFA is the only true quirk equal to AFO. It’s the design of the story. The miracle in the manga will be when the prime of OFA is restored.

Think about it, if you have a assault rifle and you're fighting ten people with knives and one with a pistol, you're aiming at the guy with the gun first, because none of the other people pose any level of threat to you. Also since OFA is a stockpiling quirk, it's always evolving, albeit at a slower rate than AFO. It's literally meant and designed to not be a equal, but it's the closest thing the hero side has to a chance, and that alone is a reason to go after OFA
@@B3A5TorSomething I really don’t think so. Let’s see if I can proper justify this line of thinking for you. I actually think OFA is better at stockpiling than AFO. Don’t forget, All-Might had the power to knock off AFO’s face and there was blood EVERYWHERE. It was a genuinely lethal blow. (And a shock it didn’t stick since AFO didn’t have super regeneration at the time.)
AFO is dependent on hunting down people with quirks he desires and can genuinely improve his existing abilities. And that can take extreme periods of time. And it’s why this quirk duplication process started. It’s because AFO needed it to make his comeback. It’s true he has a TON of quirks that are not as helpful. But there’s a science of finding AND learning how to use the quirks.
OFA not only needs mastery of one quirk in a nutshell, but once OFA is mastered for the holder, they are for all intensive purposes a saiyan. They get stronger as they fight more. (Full cowling appears to be when stockpiling is occurring.) And with the very nature of a quirk that stockpiles quirks, memories, consciousnesses, and more, OFA is a quirk with no limit. If it could be depleted, there’s no way OFA would’ve lasted the 200 years it has and gotten to the point of power it did. (If the 4th and All-Might are seriously the only 2 that ever dedicated to stockpiling, I just can’t believe it ever got the power to knock off AFO’s face with a punch SIXTY TIMES STRONGER than the United States of Smash.)
I won’t deny OFA is half the quirk of AFO in its origin. AFO is give and take, OFA is just give. And it’s because of that specific aspect that will make OFA the eternal underdog to AFO. BUT, they HAVE become more equal. AFO with the far greater arsenal with unlimited possibility is of course at the advantage to the quirk that just has to brute force through everything. (Extra quirks do provide a much wider arsenal, but they mainly ever improve 1 aspect of the holder, not all)
The reason AFO seeks OFA is because it’s a quirk booster and it serves as an all encompassing armor for anything beneath the % he chooses. There are a few key aspects OFA has over AFO. 1 is it hits the limit of AFO. We don’t know what AFO’s limits are. But like OFA, they DO exist. For me, I can assume AFO can’t steal more than 1 quirk at a time. 2 at MOST. Namely because he only has so many hands. (Which…may be why what happens in the manga was a priority for AFO for his design.) I think he can either only give with 1 hand and take with the other, or truly can use give and take interchangeably. And based on the body modifications needed for Nomu being done prior to AFO pumping in quirks, that tells me AFO can’t pump more than 1 quirk in at the same time. And if there’s a quirk imbalance, the man with multiple quirk’s mind breaks. And as we know, the MOMENT AFO wanted to retrieve OFA, it was already 3 quirks. Preventing it from being stolen. Which has to drive AFO CRAZY. And is DEFINITELY why AFS exists. The other thing is progression. AFO has THREE whole stages to adding a new quirk to his arsenal. 1 is obtain, 2 is learn, 3 is combine. If AFO doesn’t do all 3 with EVERY quirk he has, each taking months at a time, many of his quirks can be deadweight. OFA is just progress, progress, progress.
But the mere fact AFS EXISTS while AFO truly did believe his body could eventually be recovered, is just why I have no doubt OFA truly does match AFO even by improbable means. For AFO to craft a whole other being for the SOLE PURPOSE and drive to steal OFA is just writing all over the wall. And while OFA has never been “completed” before, AFO would want OFA at its best for his greatest personal boost of EVERY quirk. (Whether he understands OFA to such a degree is still up for debate. And at the same time, AFS was made in a way VERY beneficial to stop another god level quirk but still at great risk to fight it. That was specifically stated weaker than All-Might Prime. But DEFINITELY in that league.
We will have to see once the prime of OFA comes back. Thats the true key to seeing how they fare at each other’s best.

1. Deku for whatever reason is having a really hard time actually dealing damage to shigaraki, who is currently quirkless, just due to him being a prime abuser of quirk singularity due to AFO's Quirk factors. He can literally stand toe to toe with people like deku and bakugo, and ofc all the pros and upper students without even using his quirks.
2. All for one should legit be a planet buster at this point and the only justifiable explanation for why he isn't is plot or that he's holding back
3. The quirks in OFA are confirmed to also be growing in power with said stocking and time but it also has a overall expectation date, whereas AFO does not, it simply has a capacity limit, which upon reaching, makes the user stronger by giving them the shiggi effect of being a singularity abuser
4. AFO seemingly took the reversal quirk from a bullet, which means he can also steal quirks from debris of someone's quirk such as projectiles, any discarded body part that has q factor or possible even by just absorbing the power itself. If AFO met overhaul or the blue guy from movie 3, OFA would literally have no possible way to combat him.
5. Even the vestiges acknowledge that this is an uphill battle, and frame it in a pretty unfair light. If OFA was the stronger quirk or even equal, why do the users always spend so long hiding or avoiding AFO rather than just stomping him ever incarnation. There's a reason why's he's been, and still is, winning and alive, and they keep dying.

Props to X-Less, he was the one who destroyed the bullets (it was the machine he broke that woke Shigaraki up). It also seemed like he was ready to blast Shiggy's face off even as a hero. Should've been faster, but hey, what can you do.
