Thank you for posting this. When my husband was stationed in Ft Lewis in the mid 90s I used to ski at Crystal on Mondays, which were my only days off. The lift attendant used to yell "Hey, it's our mondaylady!", which stuck as my ski moniker. Back then it was more of a locals' mountain. Simple, but affordable. Between midweek and my military discounts I paid $20 for an all day ticket. I do not like what the developer has done to Crystal. I see it's become way overpriced and overbuilt at the base. It looks like they did away with the military discount. Having said that, the gondola ride reminds me of why I fell in love with Washington. Beautiful place. There are things I miss about it and things I don't.
That's one thing that I have never been on, a mountain ride!! The scenery is amazing!! That is a great spot to view Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams, it is a paradise for those that love to take selfies. $14 for a pretzel? 😲😲😲 I never realized how much they cost. Do you have to pay for the deck chairs as well? That looks like a really nice day out!!
Deck chairs are no extra charge which is only right considering the gondola ride costs close to 40 bucks! First time up there for us as well. You are allowed to hike up for free though! Not too many takers on that, maybe in my younger days I'd have done it. We hit it on a perfect day weatherwise for sure.
