Zenith’s history is full of incredible watches, many of which have slipped through the cracks, presenting opportunities for enthusiasts to discover the brand in sometimes unexpected ways. There are many great examples from the ‘60s and ‘70s, but video will focus on a watch from 1997, just prior to the Thierry Nataf era, representing the best of the brand’s tool watch chops. The watch is the Rainbow Flyback Chronograph, and its story is full of unexpected turns. Catch the full story on The Deep Track right here: thedeeptrack.c...

Greetings!! One of my favorite watches, if not the most; I saw it for the first time in a watch shop back in 2005, and I fell in love with it. It's a shame that my finances don't share my feelings😂.

Just purchased one of these in Japan after two years of consideration. It's in great cosmetic shape but might need a service from Zenith, which I will happily pay for. Such a sleeper gem really needs to be preserved well.

Good video. Back in 1997, I bought a Zenith De Luca to celebrate my second son's birth. I gave it to him on his 21st birthday. In 1997 I also saw the Rainbow and loved it, wanting one ever since, as I missed the De Luca so much. Today I have just bought one and realised my dream.

Congrats on snagging one! I'm a big fan of the De Luca, the design holds up so well, but with a character rarely seen these days.

It really does ! I almost hope my son says to me 'you can have that watch back dad as I don't wear it' then I would have 2 Zeniths. What do you think of the Zenith Stratos Flyback they issued in 2014 ? There is a good video that compares the original with the newer one. I'm not so keen on it. I think it is too big and loses the design cohesion of the original.

The Stratos Flyback is a watch I've been thinking about lately - it's got a few things going for it, but doesn't quite manage pull it all together in a way that works. It's an interesting, modern take on the design, which I like, but as you mention, the proportions are lost in translation. If they came back to this design today, I think it would be a different story, and would likely be similar to the Defy Extreme Diver just released earlier this year. That's still a bit on the large side, but it's a a great modern interpretation.
