  • Power or Torque? Which is better to have? We discuss what is better: big Horsepower numbers or good low-end Torque figures, what sells cars & bikes and what win races, why high Torque engines accelerate faster and why high Power engines have higher top speed. Also we'll look at the easiest analogy, which'll help to understand engine Power and engine Torque!

    On Moto Control channel you will find videos about motorcycles, motorcycle riding techniques, tips & tricks and online motorcycle training for beginner and advanced riders!
    A little info about me. My name is Andrei Bodrov, originally I'm from Moscow, Russia, and now I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Back in Moscow I was a motorcycle instructor and creator of Moto Control Beginner & Advanced motorcycle rider courses, which quickly became the most popular courses in Moscow (well, at least the advanced one😁). My advanced training course makes emphasis on slow speed riding techniques at first (such as good clutch and throttle control, proper riding posture, proper use of vision, etc.), then proceeds to more advanced techniques (such as aggressive braking, trail braking, maximal lean angle). The course incorporates a lot of exercises from DOSAF slow speed riding (similar to police rodeo like motorcycle training in USA), braking and cornering exercises and motogymkhana style riding. And now, since I actively learn English - I decided to post some useful videos for both your and mine practice!😉

    Since everyone writes this, it's necessary, I suppose 🤷, so here we go. Disclaimer: Ride at your own risk, you are responsible for your own safety. Me, Andrey Bodrov and my channel, Moto Control disclaim any liability incurred in connection with the use of riding techniques from this channel. Use common sense, wear full protective gear and ride in a safe and predictable manner!

    Technically the rotating assembly produces torque by itself when moving, otherwise it wouldn't have any mass, and that would be impossible.

    So that is why more cilinders results in a higher power output; You have more frequent torque applied to the shaft

    Perfect explanation for a tesla since its a constant tork, aka a gas engine has 600 ho but not consistently

    • @Bertinator-nm9ld
      @Bertinator-nm9ld Місяць тому +1

      Tesla's don't have flat horsepower curves, though. They still peak, just like combustion engines.
      And even torque falls off at higher rpm, for electric motors.

    Can someone explain how the piston comes back up? Is it due to vaccum caused by exhaust valve?

    • @MotoControlEn
      @MotoControlEn  8 місяців тому +13

      No, it's mostly inertia of the crankshaft, it continues to spin and pushes the rod back to the top dead center

      i would typically agree, but this explanation is very oversimplified and i’m not sure where exactly this logic would be useful. mass is a very important part of the torque vs hp thing so this explanation is more a generalization of the behavior of typical engines.
      i could be wrong but, in a sense, a massless engine (including all fluids) would behave similar to what people think of an ideal electric engine with infinite hp at 0 rpm. of course a massless engine would also have no momentum so it wouldn’t work either, but it goes to show how far you can stretch an idea before it falls apart.
      all this to say that source is important and if you really want to learn something in depth, for the time being, you probably will still land on reading books. that’s gonna change in the next decade though. most engineering support classes are taught on youtube and a lot of in major classes too.

      It's oil, it's showing you the rotation of the crankshaft and one of the weights on it which is the big piece, which connects to the connecting. Engines today don't need to be dipped in oil that's like the Titanic old diesel
