But I do agree with Dave. I am extremely excited for the Chargers. Grabbing Brock Bowers. Simply because I just believe it’s a defensive nightmare to matchup when you have a really good TE. Mark Andrews, George Kittles, Sam Laporta, and Travis Kelci. It’s apparent on the field that they make a difference. Either way, I believe the chargers are sitting really nicely at five and if a in division rival wants to make the climb up to number five that they should make it very hard, extremely challenging for them to get that number five pick. Keon Coleman ran the fastest in the gauntlet at the combine. The drill where you run and actually catch the ball. It shows he doesn't have any fear in his hands and doesn't slow down. Do you know who had the fastest time at the gauntlet last year? Puka
FYI the reason they do a vertical jump at the combine is to test players explosiveness off the line. And the combine is useful for scouts, GMs etc they can compare player side by side and evaluate their footwork, bend, hands and so on but for the average fan its pretty pointless unless you know what they are looking for.
In regards to why they make them jump. See how high for highpoint, leg strength, and muscles used for jumping not just weights. If you relfect on your playing days and how these drills can translate on the playing field.

Michigan recruited 3 star players, coached them up and now have 18 players at combine. Now they'll draft alot of players in themid rounds and coach them up. Can't understand how fans do not see this
The only two players that I’d feel good about drafting at 5 are Nabers and Harrison. Everyone else trade back for assets. If we go back in the teens I’d like to see Bowers, LT Fuaga or Latham, or CB Arnold, Wiggins, or DeJean.
Just occurred to me,, will your opinion be changed of Harbaugh any if the 5th pick by bolts is a Joe Alt, being picked to be switched from his college position as left O tackle to try out on bolts as right O tackle?

I don’t know i can agree with the combine not being important. For me its wanting to see them altogether doing the same drills, whether the drill pertains to football or not. Everyone is on a "level" playing field with no other players helping can show a lot, and maybe enough to make teams on the fence about someone seeing him do just as well as someone you're alteady considering. First thing for me when a player opts out is " premadonna". Oh look at me im special, i can't be bothered being out there competing with those guys. Unless its an injury that hasn't yet healed. If I'm coach im thinking these things. If I'm considering two guys that are pretty close to each other talent wise im really thinking about character, team guy or self guy. Wjth all things being equal and taking the school and teammates out of the equation... Just my opinion

Then take McCarthy with the number 5 pick and Brock Browers with the Falcon pick, then take a cornerback and right tackle in the second round. That leaves rounds 3 through 7 with DL, linebacker, and more cornerbacks and safeties.

Steve, Chargers had 5 wins and Staley rarely took accountability throughout the season. I don’t think he’s a terrible person just a terrible head coach. His “leadership” kept Justin Herbert and Derwin James amongst other irrelevant.
