I'm not so much a travel journaler, but my favorite thing is what I call on-site sketching. All of my supplies fit in a Ziploc bag which goes in my little daypack. I prefer to work outdoors, sketching what I see. I rarely do anything back at home except I might add a business card or something like that.
Great! I have a huge admiration for people who love to sketch on location! I not always have the time and not always I'm satisfied with my results 😄 but I'm so willing to practice and improve! Thank you Sunny for commenting, you're officially the first!
Thank you for this gorgeous video!!! I adore London, and seeing it merge with your notebooks is such a delight! I am the "all-the-time-journaler" - whenever, wherever, a constant desire to just sit with my notebook!
Thank you so much for your kind words! :) Same, I would sit with my notebooks, planners and sketchbooks all day! :D
My idea (which I hope to implement the next time I travel) is use a journaling app for on-the-go journaling. Since I always have my phone with me, it's easy enough to just create an entry and insert pictures. Once home, I can then write in my travel journal. I can either print the pictures or sketch them.
Actually a fantastic idea, Vicky! 😃 I'm not great with technology, but I thought about using Notion or something similar for when I'm on the go... Now you mentioned a journaling app too I'm definitely gonna experiment with them 😃 Nowadays apps are so resourceful!Thank you for watching and commenting!
I did this recently on a trip to Edinburgh! I did a small amount of journalling whilst I was an away but I kept notes in the iPhone Journal app to refer to when I got home where I did 90% of my journalling. Worked so well - hope it works when you next travel 👍
@@nicolelim2092 Thank you for sharing! My journals are all just written journals (no photos or sketches). The most recent one was written about 15 years ago (um, I'm a Boomer 😅) long before there were journaling apps. Haven't traveled for leisure in a while.
I was waiting so hard to see your next video, thank you for the share! Wonderful work! 🥰👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you so much Monica!!! Much appreciated 😊💙
Another great video, thank you! I very much agree with "youdoyou, boo" - In terms of writing, I seem to have found inspiration to compose in many different locations, indoors or outside, and very often depending on what I'm working on.
Thank you Marco! 😃 I agree, art and inspiration can only flourish properly from variety, in my opinion! So yes, the more we explore different environments and condition, the richer we and our art become 🙂
Thank you for another informative and entertaining video,Carlo. I have way more time to sketch where I have been and what I have seen when at home at the kitchen table, my very fancy studio. I am trying to improve my speed when on location to make those sketches better as well.
Thank you Myra! 😃 Good luck on your sketching practice! I'm a huge fan of journaling on kitchen tables too!!! (basically the surface I use for all my videos!) 😄
Another beautiful video ❤ thank you Carlo! I wish I could sketch like you 😂 my pages are far from yours, but I think practice makes it perfect 😅 I prefer to journal at home, I take take time with journaling. But when I am visiting the place I take lots of pictures and usually write daily, so I know the emotions won't be missed. Thank you for the inspiration!
Thank you so much! 😃💙 Our methods are very much alike! And definitely, practice makes it perfect, so keep up the good work!
I prefer to take pics and videos and then work at home but sketching on location is great if you have the time or even when you are going to different places of the city where you live 😊
Totally agree, Ric! So yes, you're definitely team home-creator 😃👍🏻
The small notebook such as Field Notes is great to capture details and memories, then do the drawing, research, and rewrites at home when you have more time and all your supplies!!! This is my technique.😊
Great method! And Field Notes notebooks are so cool and handy! 😍
😊
❤️❤️❤️
I'm an at home journaler, but I liked your tips for things to do out and about. You gave me an idea about taking a tour of where I live and journaling that. I don't know why I never thought of that before. Great video. Well done.
Thank you so much! 😃💙 Sometimes we tend take a bit for granted the areas we live in, and it's always lovely to see them with fresh eyes and notice elements we hadn't before! It happened to me with London and my hometown Rome!
I would love to connect my eyes with my Pencil like you do…😔
💙💙💙
Heyyyyyy! 🎂🥂auguroniiiii👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💐!!😁
Your energy is annoying, but your journal work is lovely 😅 I just completely muted you in order to watch the video🤗
@@TheAllisonLab You do you, boo, life's too short.
So great to watch again … As I am most times traveling with my family including three kids I prefer journaling at home. Sometimes I can take an hour or a half for sketching in situ but often enough I‘m just taking pictures (which alone annoys my kids for we have to stop every two steps 😆). Then I take my time at home for journaling. It‘s great that you were tourist in your „hometown“ - London has got so many beautiful spots. I also love to travel around our town which is Dresden in Germany. Feeling like a tourist you get impressed by everyday-views. And there a always new things to discover. Enjoy a lovely week Carlo and thanks again for your insights 🙌🏻💝🖌️📝🎨
Thank you Katja! 🙂💙 My hometown is Rome (Italy), but I've been living in London for 11 years now 🙂 It is great indeed to be a tourist in your own city! You never really finish to see a place, there's always something to discover 😊
I loved this video, your style is unique and I love how you go straight to the point! Very honest, I like that. Your drawings are stunning and London with the sun is beautiful ❤
Grazie Magi! ❤️ I loved to enjoy sunny London with you guys a few weeks ago! 😊
So cool and beautiful. I love your style!
Thank you so much! 😊💙
I agree, I love his writing also, looks amazing 😊
