That statistic is just embarrassing to the US and so sad that that’s what people have to do sometimes here ughhhhhh even when people who’ve told me they have maternity leave but it’s unpaid blows my mind, that would never fly in Australia! Fingers crossed it passes Congress!!!!

I stayed home with my son for 9 months. With my daughter because I started a new job I went to work 2 weeks after giving birth. Not easy but I had help from my husband and mother. Hope no one has to do that

Your country is ahead than my country India in majority of the things but in India we get six months paid leave and again you can extend another one month.😊

That’s so sad - can’t imagine going back to work after 10 days. I’m living in UK (from Ireland) and can have up to 1 year. 3 months full pay, 3 months half pay, 3 months statutory pay and 3 months no pay. Baby is 9 months now and I’m already anxious about leaving her.
Loving her doing the little waves! Not quite up to getting from lying to sitting / sitting to standing yet. Definitely a lot of curiosity at this point 🤭

    Wow…so sad 😞
I live in Germany: you can choose until 3 years of staying home.
1 or 2 years with payment ( for 2 years, the payment from 1 year will be split in 2) and one last year without payment.
I choose 1 year payment and 2 years no payment, thinking to go back to work after 1,5 years, but only 3-4 hours, when my husband is home.
In the first year a get pregnant again, so I have now another 3 years ( a totally of 5 years wich I cans divide in the firs 8 years of my daughters, I don’t have to take all the years right now).
I think here is a great system for parents.
Oh, the father can also take 2 months with payment, so he can stay home with the family

Why don’t mothers make the choice to be a stay-at-home mom anymore? Not just for 1, 2 or 3 years, but for all stages in your child’s life?

Talk to her, read to her. Read everything not just books and not just while sitting down. Read the labels on her clothes on the cereal box.
Read, Read, Read and talk, talk, talk. Limit (severely) screen time and when you get tired of talking...sing, sing, sing. Try it.
BTW 30 plus years as a Pediatric OT. (Didn't intend to hijack the comment section but it is so important to know that kids develop in different time frames.)

Oh my goodness I am sitting here in tears just thinking about how absolutely cruel it is to force mothers to choose between providing for their kids and taking the necessary time off to take care of a new born as well as themselves. 10 days!!! It truly is a disgrace.
I live in South Africa and am lucky enough to work for a big organization whom gave me four months of paid maternity leave and I sometimes wish it was more. The time you get to spend with your little ones in those first couple of months are invaluable. We really need to do better by mothers, i feel like the US government has to change and offer MUCH better support to families that just had a baby.
Being in South Africa I feel so helpless, is there anything I can do to help, perhaps a bill that needs support or petitions that we can sign, please if anyone has some info, please share.

Wow I was a shell of myself even four weeks after my baby was born I can’t imagine having to return back to work so soon. I wasn’t even allowed to drive for six weeks after my c-section! I hope this legislation is passed for y’all and is just the beginning.
Thank you for your videos, sending lots of love from Canada!

Oh my gosh that’s awful 😢 over here in the Uk we get 12 months leave and 9 months of that is paid leave at more than half reduced salary but it’s better than nothing

Do you have a video about helping baby transition into sitting from tummy/back? Mine can do all these 9mnth things except that.

Horrendous maternity leave in the US. I couldn't even drive after my emergency C section at that stage. In the UK leave entitlement is much better. My 9 month old is doing some of these things but not all. Hopefully that is normal 🙃

It is absolutely normal for babies to be doing some and not all milestones at any given age 🤍

Do you know how many child free people in the US tell me that parents get TOO MUCH leave??? I’ve been told having a child was my choice, and that I shouldn’t get extra money and time off because of that choice.

Bless their hearts. I’m sorry you’ve been met with such lack of compassion. 🤍
