The Almafi COAST is beautiful, but the cities of Almafi or Positano are just crowded noisy tourist traps with a bad value for your money. We had a WAY better experience in smaller & more charming places like Ravello, Vietri, Vico Equense, Minori & Maori👌
I'm from Salerno (the city where amalfi coast starts) and i must say that the locals, at least the most clever ones, they keep away from amalfi coast during the summer season, especially in the weekends. Driving there it's a nightmare, endless traffic lines, high probability of finding parking lots full (and if they are not you have to pay a lot), the last time i went to positano from salerno it took me 3 hours. Amalfi coast is nice during the spring season and autumn. In april, may, september, october and sometimes even november is still hot to swim and enjoy the place.
@@kimmie1957 Milan has no hills, but was not so beautiful imho. Venice also no hills, but A LOT of tourists & very crowded areas. Florence is beautiful and also not really hilly. But also a lot of tourists everywhere. Lake Como is very beautiful but quite hilly. Rome is also a city that everyone should have visited once in life and not hilly. Most beautiful spots in Italy are surrounded by hills (Sardinia, Largo Maggiore, Sicilia etc)
Please go! Avoid the peak season where there is crowding late June - September. Late September - October and March - April are great. If you have trouble with inclines stay in Sorrento and use that as your starting point to visit towns along the Amalfi Coast and Capri. The bus from Amalfi to Ravello is well worth the trip. The views from this amazing cliff town are gasp inducing!
I rate Amalfi coast at 💯 I went in July, the crowds were not as bad as people make it. I got around quick and efficiently using taxis that were abundant. The stairs well gives you a workout. If you don’t like walking it won’t be for you. But I had the best time of my life. And the views are even more stunning in person, breathtaking.
Translation: 1) You have to be around people. 2) You have to, somewhat, exercise. 3) The world no longer revolves around you and is no longer designed for your convenience. What is wrong with Americans bro? Stay in America if you want to stay inside, glued to your phone and have everything delivered to your house so you never have to exercise or socialize with other people.
So….I just came from here and now in Rome. I went to Capri, and other ferry ports in the area. Taxis are ALWAYS available and cost around 20-30 euro to be taken most places, one way, on the island. Ferries come and go every 15 mins, and are always available with piles of seats available. Avoid buses as they are extremely crowded due to the very very low cost (2.5 euro sometimes one way). You’ll be right up on someone the entire 20 min ride on a bus. Almost every time I got a taxi, it was instant and I didn’t have to wait at all. Sure you’ll way more vs a bus, but the taxis on the island are worth it as they are covered convertibles and allow to take piles of pictures riding around the edges of road. The crowds aren’t as bad as you’d think. They are constantly moving so taking things slow and enjoying each area is extremely possible as they’ll just walk around you. Quick day trip to see most of Capri- take a taxi to Anacapri and grab a chair lift to the top of the mountain after you complete a 2-3 hour boat ride around the island. Avoid the restaurants right off the port as they are extremely overpriced and not worth it quality wise. (Read the reviews and avoided)
I'm going in a cruise , can I make it here on the stop. I know I would have to get here from the docking port. How did you do it? We will be in Rome, Messina, Pompeii, Pisa... can I go from any of these places? Not sure it it will be enough time
Potentially Pompeii as its down south near these islands. You’d need to take a taxi I think from there to Naples docks. From there you’d buy a ticket and the boats come every 15-30 mins.
We went for our honeymoon and hope to go back again one day. What a beautiful place. The lemons, the sea, the scenic landscape, the quirky buildings, the pizza, the gelato, the lack of big brands, the friendly people... ❤
1 & 3 are legit. I just visited in september and the crowds where huge. Also the transportation is shit. But I still say it was worth it. Amalfi looks amazing and it s a nice place to eat or have a drink, to swim (although the beach it full of small rocks. I recomand flip flops) and to visit. Domo di Amalfi is wonderful! One thing I d recomand if you want to visit amalfi, please go to Capri too. It s one of the most beautiful places I have seen, if not the most beautiful. Amalfi is small and you don t have many things to do there but Capri it s pretty big and you have a shit tone of places to see and activities to do. And it is near amalfi. You can take a ferry from Napoli or Sorrento to reach Capri. The only bad thing about capri are the prices. It s insanly expensive. But two days there will bankrupt nobody hopefully 😅. We booked a wonderful place to stay with the best view with a really good price. Maybe it was luck. The last thing to keep in mind for Capri is that it could be full of tourists just like amalfi if you go full season in summer. In september the crowds where big but not terrible if that makes sense (Anacapri had almost no tourists when I visited). The weather is also great and hot in september. I can t imagine the insufferable heat in the summer :)) Have a great holiday if you choose to visit those magnificent places! (Not Napoli lmao 😅)
I’ve traveled quite extensively throughout Italy, including the Amalfi coast… And even though it’s insanely busy, I am going from August 15 through September 3 although from late August to September I’ll be in Sicily, which will be more relaxing. That’s the key… First you go to the Amalfi coast, see all the beautiful sites… Yes it’s crowded but there are places and times where you could beat the crowds… Most Italians don’t even wake up until around nine or 10 so early morning is a great time to get around and see the sites and stores are open!
I disagree with everything I mean it’s only a lil crowded just like america and u can just get a taxi or Uber It’s such a beautiful place with beautiful places to explore and the beaches 🤩🤩🤩 Edit: I forgot to say that I’m in Amalfi coast now and I can tell u it’s beautiful and u should go to sorrento and position if u like long lines
Riding a scooter along the Amalfi coast is one of the greatest things I have experienced in my life. Recommend just staying in Naples and riding down from there
Agree with all of this! For those reasons and more I am never going back. We had a horrible experience. Even at our expensive and safe area air b&b a group of people tried to rob us by tricking us into letting them inside our place. Never again! Also not to mention people were throwing up on the buses and it would never get cleaned up. There so much chaos about this place that I don’t understand why anyone would want to go there. But I guess if you have never been you will Never know. By the way we just went last week and we stayed the whole time in Positano.
Yes, it used to be such a beautiful and peaceful place but Instagram and onlyfans bimbos had to ruin it, just like how they ruined Ibiza and now ruining Mykonos.. there should be a visa law against those stupid individuals, some ppl call it hate but it's just facts and all the reviews online can't lie.. #sorrynotsorry
Yes please try to came more in September or October or May.We cannot even park a car or go from Salerno, only by boat. Please stay at home or came in other periods
bro please Amalfi is amazing ofc there are these kinds of problems, what did you expect? that it was empty or smt? A LOT OF PPL COME THERE and what did you expect about the stairs? its a town not a freaking ugly city if you want to go to a certain place just use your freaking feet
