Thank you. Your video included one detail that none of the others I watched did... opening the parenting menu. I was trying to use the Track Matte menu because that is what the other videos looked like they were using and that was what was open by default. Obviously THAT didn't work.
Hi there! If you dragged Layer 1's pickwhip to Layer 2, that would make Layer 2 the parent and Layer 1 the child. In 1:45, Layer 1 (Yellow) is the parent, and Layer 2 (Cyan) is the child. Hope that helps! ^IY
@@AdobeVideo Thank you so much! One last question, How would you describe a clip (layer 1) that is connected to Null 1 (layer 2), which is connected to Null 2? (layer 3) assuming all of the layers have keyframes, how would it work?
Whichever layer you are dragging the pickwhip to, that is the parent. So if you drag the clip's pickwhip to null 1, and null 1's pickwhip to null 2, null 2 is the parent. The result would depend on the effect or property that has keyframes, so it would be specific to your project. We hope this helps! ^CS
hallo, can you help me sir, how to parent an object "A" to another object "B" with bend it effect applied on the "B" object, it's posible "A" object to follow the bend it effect that applied on the "B" object? thank you alot

can you connect a layer to more than 1 parent? for example lets say i have 1 parent null layer with tracking properties and 2nd parent null layer with a different kind of properties, can i connect my child layer to both parent layers?
Hi Luenic Luke, Thanks for the note. What a great question! It sounds like you may need a script to do what you would like. Can you check out this one? adobe.ly/3TuQ6qv Is this what you are looking to do? Let me know either way. If not, I can ask the dev team to help out. Thx, ^KM
Hey Ayman, Please make sure you're selecting the track under Parent and Link and not under the Track Matte column. If you do not see the Parent and Link column, right-click on any column, and go to Columns > Parent & Link. Let us know if this helps. Thanks, ^IY
you genius!! that trick with holding shift when parenting saved me!! Thanks so much!!
Nice job Kyle!!! So smooth and clear. A born teacher. And a learned professional.
@IntraVortex We couldn't agree more 😌

Kyleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the Animatorking!
Very well taught
Why exactly is it that when you parent matters? Is it that it means when you parent, the other layer sees the parent at that moment as default?
amazingly good video
Wait, so if you connect layer 1 to layer 2. Which one is the parent? Layer One Right?

What could be the reason of child moving to random (not technically random) position even if I'm not holding shift or alt key?
