Wonderful build, but I came to the comments to say; "I love the love and respect you show your Dad." I wish him well in his travels and hope he enjoys life.
Thanks for demonstrating how you get out of the bed and out of the van. I would have the same problem because I can't get the up motion from a low sitting position. I can't crawl on my knees either. There are solutions to every issue. Nice build and I like the Silver Shanty. Have fun!
You done a super job on this van build , I watch van life almost every night and your build for a mini van is in rhe the top 10 in my opinion 😀 thank you for sharing. Oh yeah.. I like Silver Shanty!!
Thank you for creating this video. With excercises and activity your fathers back pain may go away over time. Six weeks of backpacking cured my lower back pain. Best wishes for your father's adventures out on the road. Thank you again for the video.
Hello , something caught my eyes and it’s the burnt plywood, I hope you have a video how you did that . Surely it will attract some viewers . Please feature that if you have time . This van build is amazing , more power to you and your channel.
Silver shanty. Love the build, any chance you can show how you made the bed supports and the storage under? I have the same sienna and would like to duplicate yours!
The Shou Sugi Ban technique on the wood is unique. The whole cabinet is beautifully designed. I love that you guys are unashamedly all electric. If I was going to go nomad, I would have the same appliances. Might go with Energized power blocks as they are less expensive, but they are new on the market so less expensive. The bed setup is effing brilliant! Your use of the OMG bar above the bed and the grab bar by the door, as well as the cup holder in the console, is absolute genius! I would need to use those things too. Getting old is not for the weak! I also have to praise the way you've incorporated the van built-ins into the kitchen. I am so very impressed by your ingenuity. Of course, I have suggestions, when it comes to advice, I'm full of it. I didn't see a fire extinguisher or CO2/smoke detector. Even if there won't be open flames, still good to have, JIC. Being men, I am sure you have a good rope and duct tape, two of my don't leave home withouts. I'd throw a little bungee cord across the coffee maker in it's little niche (which is so perfect), because I swear those little pots are suicidal and jump to their destruction. I don't know if IKEA still sells them, but the used to have a small glass pot for tea that fits nicely on the coffeemaker, though I have one of those big cups intended for soup that fits perfectly and holds 5 coffee cups of the 'don't kill stupid people' juice. Garbage cans can be overrated. Just find a spot to hang 2 binder clips and clip a garbage bag up. Other than bug screens and a couple of USB fans for ventilation, that's all I got! I will say again that this build is ingeniously brilliant and your Dad is a blessed man who raised a clever, inventive son.
2 Things. 1. Plug in your power station to 12 v power, from a cigarette lighter plug. That way it charges while the car is on. The advantage is that its always charging while driving and you can use the 120v AC all the time without killing your van battery. (within reason) 2. I didn't see a porta potty or anywhere to do personal cleaning. To me that is absolutely necessary if you are going to survive long as a long term camper or nomad.
I'm so envious I have a Pacifica but no climate control. You mentioned figure out window treatments I recommend the maid to order from WeatherTech for your model of car, they are reflectix on one side and black on the other if you saw that you always left the reflective side out you could actually put some fabric to match those green pillows bringing it all together... I've chosen to use just the black and reflected side because I'm in Florida and it helps with the heat. Really like your layout.
Silver Shanty. Nice build., love the spice rack idea! By the way, it’s better to use an earth friendly soap when camping, like Dr. Bronner’s for an example, not Dawn. There are many others!
We will be adding a 2000W pure sine wave inverter from the 12V battery to charge the Bluetti soon. We will only use the inverter while driving to ensure the battery doesn’t deplete. While I love solar, we are trying to avoid installing permanent panels on the roof for stealth purposes. We might implement a portable solar panel that folds up when he is off grid. Thanks for the comment!
Take a long, get to know the rig, trip & then you'll find the appropriate name for it. I drove mine for 20k miles b4 I finally came up with 'The Scout About Motor Lodge' name. 😉 Very nice minimal build.👏
It wasn’t too bad honestly. There where 4 bolts on each seat under plastic covers. Two wires with clips that needed unplugged. I recommend unplugging the 12 volt battery to be safe before unplugging the airbags. And the other clip is for the seatbelt. I purchased a pair of air bag deletion modules that clip into the wire harness. By plugging them in it keeps that airbag light off the dash, and ensures the airbag system works properly. If your looking for the module I’ll leave the link below to it. Thanks for the comment! bradshacks.com/product/airbag-simulator/
Very nice! I’m just curious, every time I see a video in general everything looks super clean and tidy, I tent camp in my Gazelle T4 thus I have plenty of room yet soon enough things get to be a mess, an organized mess but a mess nonetheless, things get dusty the second day I’m there etc. Do you guys just tidy up and clean/scrub everything for the sake of the video? Is it human possible to have every single piece of clothing that you know you’ll be using at night as you’re layering and needing to find fast put completely away first thing every morning? I’ve been camping for 40+ years and I’m yet to personally see anyone so tidy as I see in the many videos I’ve watched from other people and again I’m just curious. I absolutely love your setting, very nice and thanks for sharing and giving us ideas as I’m starting to look for a van.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you for your comment. To answer your question, This build is usually in this state of organization. My father and myself are OCD and have a hard time relaxing or sleeping when our living quarters are disorganized. The physical clutter or disorganized areas around us create mental clutter. We have a hard time focusing when things don’t have a designated home. As for clothing, every article of clothing he owns and his possessions are in his van. We are kinda extreme minimalists in many peoples eyes, But don’t let our mindset stress you out if you live differently. We are all different and cope with things differently. I had a hard time for years with anxiety and I found that the Japanese culture on cleaning every day helps clear your mind. I truly appreciate your comment!
@@jaytheminimalist I should try it, I certainly know where everything is but is not super tidy, not making excuses but my dogs make a mess with hair and dirt too but I love bringing them specially since mostly I camp solo and they’re my protection, they’re not small and I’ve trained them this way. Thanks .
It depends on the vehicle. I removed both back seats on my 2015 Toyota Highlander, with no issues. Produced a huge amount of space & lightened the vehicle👍.

Gorgeous rig in both form and function. Beautiful expression of love between father and son.

This is brilliant! This is beautiful! This is bougie! Pure genius.😍

Smart conversion.Simple and thoughtfully put together.
Looks great. If you find your fridge could use a boost. You can buy the insulated cover that is recommended.
The build looks great and very functional! The trim holding so much in place is practical. Well done.
The demo was great!
Silver shanty, enjoy video amazing built. Love color’s great home.
Beautiful job on the wood burning 🔥
Glad you like it! Thanks for watching!
Silver shanty sounds good 👌

Love the build...very nicely done..👍👍
I love the conver. I like Silver Shanty.
I thought it was African tiger wood at first. Nice.
Great job! I wonder if you samd the back corner of freezer door that it might open better? Your storage space is amazing. Thanks for ahowing us.
Thank you! And that’s a great idea, maybe we will sand it down and see. Thanks for the comment!
Silver Shanty
DEFINITELY 🎉
Hey cutie, 🥰😘I really like your van setup. Looks great!😊👍
❤❤❤love the build out of your van love love wood word beautiful ❤❤❤❤
Great job and nice build 👍🏻
I had converted my 2023 Toyota Siena EXS to a camper and had a hard time to add Kitchen, refrigerator and a toilet. How do you use a toilet?
We use a foldable toilet that is compact. We only use it for emergencies. It’s just a bucket and bag system. Thanks for the comment!
Silver shanty! Nice job!!
Silver Shanty! Nice clean build. Thanks
Oh I used to want one of those shiki futon mattress
Great build on the van.
Nice job! My vote's for Silver Shanty.
very nice build
Like your couch/bed layout. How would you do a 2 person sleeping quarter?
I like silver shanty😊
Do you use hybrid engine to charge Bluetti. Do you have solar or will you add?

Good job
New subscriber here. I’m thinking about getting a sienna and doing the same thing. I like the Silver name lol
Fantastic!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
With the hybrid can you keep the ac on overnight?
Yes you can. With very little impact on fuel cost.
@@jaytheminimalist That's terrific!
I would love to see how you did the floor!❤
Does the platform bed pull out so he can use the full width of the mattress?
Very nice!!!
Great build!😊

Both are good but I think I’m leaning more towards “The Stealth Shake”

Idk if you’ve already made your decision... but my vote is for Silver Shanty😊
Silver Shanty would be my choice.
My vote is : SILVER SHANTY
Stealth Shack ❤
Silver shanty
Nice build.
That’s an awesome build!
Silver Shanty!

How did you remove the second row seats??
Silver shanty. How hard was it to take out the second row seats with those airbags in them?

How did you build the couch/bed?😮
Hello, have you use the temperature control while sleeping?
Yes it works great!
