Muslims are having in this condition for 100 years . Allama Iqbal passed away in 1930's . It's not even 100 years. Muslims major down fall stated after breaking of caliphate Usmania that breaks whole unity of Muslims. Just a reply to give you clear Understanding of this Poem, This Poem is actually about Contemporary Muslims complaining about their downfall and Problems and asking Allah to help them to get out of these crises, as they devote their lives, their families, their assets in the name of Allah. In Jawab e Shikwa Allah asks their servants to introspect themselves. All those things Muslims said in Shikwa were the traits of their ForeFathers, The contemporary Muslims are divided in Sects, Castes fighting each other and shedding blood of their brothers for personal gains rather than for the sake of Allah. Allah tells them that when Muslims used to rule the world, They were united. Their all actions were to please Allah. Examples are Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) and his companions. and Muslims Like Ertugrul and Many other devoted Muslims who did Jihad with their Nafs and then with those who were barbaric. Lemme explain it for you guys. So in "jawab-e-Shikwa" Allama Iqbal was replying to his own poetry in a way so that muslims can understand what he was trying to explain in "Shikwa". So what he meant was that you(muslims) try to complain to Allah about your current situation and complain Allah about what your ancestors did, but you don`t compare your present self to your ancestors, you explain about your ancestors and about their achievement but don`t tell that what are your achievements and are you like your ancestors even a bit, this was the whole plot of his poetry.

To understand Allama Iqbal's poetry you need to learn Urdu as well as Persian. Make correction this poem has nothing to do with ertagul or Osman. It's about general situation of Muslim in current situation and the main emphasis is on stop recalling past and what your ancestors had done or achieved. Remember this poem was written at a time when Muslims of subcontinent were lacking in modern education and just reading subjects which were of not much use in real life. They were busy in just recalling the glorified past. Allama sahib asked in this poem to become a practical and start getting education and stop day dreaming and don't relay just on the prayer from Allah SWT to destroy non Muslims. Prayers will be fulfilled when you start doing something.
The essence of this poetry was k "tum jo kuch keh rahay ho hum nay aap k liye kia hai, wo tum nay nahi tumharay abaa o ajdad, yani tum say pehle walay musalmano nay kia hai. Tum nay kuch nai kia un k jesa. Is liye Allah nay unhen dunia main urooj dia or tumhen zawaal dia hai. Kiu k tum say pehle walay log Quran ko follow kartay thay or tum nai kartay." Actually this was not based on sayings of Ertugrul Ghazi but during the times of British rule the conditions of the Muslims were bad so he gave an example of Ertuğrul to realize who were the real Muslims. Ertugrul fought for Islam and now after 800 years he still remains in heart of every one.

Allama Iqbal saab ne ye poems( shikwa and jawab e shikwa) 1909 and 1911 k bich me likhi thi...to us time k musalmano ki taraf se poet ne Allah se shikwa kiya h kyuki muslims at that time apni hukumat duniya k bahut se countries me gawa chuke the aur india me bhi sare hindu muslims angrezo k gulam the. ab isme erturgrul series k jo scene lagaye gye h wo ye dikhane k liye lagaye gaye h k musalmano ne 1900 se pehle kitna kuch kiya h, jo ki poem me fit hota h but...jawab e shikwa me kaha gya h k erturgrul aur usse pehle k musalmano ki hukumat isliye thi duniya pe kyuki wo musalman the sahi mayno me...aaj k musalmano jese ni the jo namazi se dur the aur zaat/biradari me mante the due to indian culture at the time( ab to kafi better h indian culture)...there is a clear line in jawab e shikwa. Mere kaabe ko jabeeno se basaya kisne, mere Quran ko seeno se lagaya kisne...the to aabaa(means ur ancestors like erturgrul, Usman and Salahuddin and many sahaba raziyallahu tahala anhu) wo tumhare hi, magar tum kya ho..... just to make one thing clear that ertugrul never made a complaint or anything to Allah , he was a turkish muslim warrior and leader of kayi tribe of 13th century and he isn`t linked to any of the poem whether it`s "Shikwa" or "Jawab-e-Shikwa" it`s just few clips of his series in playback video with Allama iqbal shayri in the background, and one more thing to make you both clear that in "Shikwa" Allama iqbal wasn`t really complaining to Allah, in fact he wrote this poetry to wake up the muslims of 19th century who were complaining to Allah that why are we facing this crisis and all this and weren`t united with each other. To understand Allama Iqbal's poetry you need to learn Urdu as well as Persian.
Make correction this poem has nothing to do with ertagul or Osman. It's about general situation of Muslim in current situation and the main emphasis is on stop recalling past and what your ancestors had done or achieved. Remember this poem was written at a time when Muslims of subcontinent were lacking in modern education and just reading subjects which were of not much use in real life. They were busy in just recalling the glorified past. Allama sahib asked in this poem to become a practical and start getting education and stop day dreaming and don't relay just on the prayer from Allah SWT to destroy non Muslims. Prayers will be fulfilled when you start doing something.
The essence of this poetry was k "tum jo kuch keh rahay ho hum nay aap k liye kia hai, wo tum nay nahi tumharay abaa o ajdad, yani tum say pehle walay musalmano nay kia hai. Tum nay kuch nai kia un k jesa. Is liye Allah nay unhen dunia main urooj dia or tumhen zawaal dia hai. Kiu k tum say pehle walay log Quran ko follow kartay thay or tum nai kartay." Or yeh poetry 20th century main likhi gayi hai. Yani 20th century ka Musalman apnay rab say shikwa kar raha hai. Jab k un ka rab unhen un say pehle k musalmano say compare kar raha hai. K tum waise musalman nai ho jese tum say pehle walay thay. Is liye tumhen yeh sab musibatain jhelni parh rahi hain or unhen Allah nay kamiyabian di.

Actually this was not based on sayings of Ertugrul Ghazi but during the times of British rule the conditions of the Muslims were bad so he gave an example of Ertuğrul to realize who were the real Muslims. Ertugrul fought for Islam and now after 800 years he still remains in heart of every one.

Most of the time people don't understand this poem completely but it is still very interesting that even non-urdu people are loving this poem. It's very difficult to make people understand this poem but I can give a brief description.
Allama Iqbal saab ne ye poems( shikwa and jawab e shikwa) 1909 and 1911 k bich me likhi thi...to us time k musalmano ki taraf se poet ne Allah se shikwa kiya h kyuki muslims at that time apni hukumat duniya k bahut se countries me gawa chuke the aur india me bhi sare hindu muslims angrezo k gulam the. ab isme erturgrul series k jo scene lagaye gye h wo ye dikhane k liye lagaye gaye h k musalmano ne 1900 se pehle kitna kuch kiya h, jo ki poem me fit hota h but...jawab e shikwa me kaha gya h k erturgrul aur usse pehle k musalmano ki hukumat isliye thi duniya pe kyuki wo musalman the sahi mayno me...aaj k musalmano jese ni the jo namazi se dur the aur zaat/biradari me mante the due to indian culture at the time( ab to kafi better h indian culture)...there is a clear line in jawab e shikwa. Mere kaabe ko jabeeno se basaya kisne, mere Quran ko seeno se lagaya kisne...the to aabaa(means ur ancestors like erturgrul, Usman and Salahuddin and many sahaba raziyallahu tahala anhu) wo tumhare hi, magar tum kya ho.....

Actually Ye shayari 1930 ke aas paas ki hai

just to make one thing clear that ertugrul never made a complaint or anything to Allah , he was a turkish muslim warrior and leader of kayi tribe of 13th century and he isn`t linked to any of the poem whether it`s "Shikwa" or "Jawab-e-Shikwa" it`s just few clips of his series in playback video with Allama iqbal shayri in the background, and one more thing to make you both clear that in "Shikwa" Allama iqbal wasn`t really complaining to Allah, in fact he wrote this poetry to wake up the muslims of 19th century who were complaining to Allah that why are we facing this crisis and all this and weren`t united with each other. So Allama Iqbal wrote this poetry to wake them up by recalling the muslims golden age and how did the downfall took place.
This was about our Muslim heritage And ancestors and a question that if you wAnt glory then be like your ancestors who didn't fall for love of this worldly luxury
