RIP, George. Did not realize how much you were hurting since your wife passed. At least you're able to be reunited with her. We here on earth will truly miss your presence while you were still with us, but your music will forever remain timeless and a great comfort to us all. :-)
I know he's gone but every once in a while I just have to jolt my senses to see what we really lost. One of the best ever Thanks George. Once he put me on that road to Jazz and Funk I never turned around again.
6 . 00 AM, some of my toughts goes to George and I decide to start the day with some of his stuff, I spot a live I didnt see before, starts with "6'o clock". Coffee is hot, first cigarette, Mr.Duke brightning the day before the sun is up. Still cant believe he left us...This dude really wrote a bit of history, not only of music but also of mankind. His musical heritage is so huge and important. He have a special place in my heart even tho he is just an icon I never met, he was so generous in his music, its like a close friend is gone.
I was very fortunate to sit and spend some time with Mr. Duke, as I hosted Jams at the hotel in Jakarta Indonesia for all the Java Jazz musicians to hang after the shows. For many years I'd see him and just nod. Eventually he invited me set and talk during the jam sessions. Surreal right! He was a nice humble man, a giant!!!!! I'm gonna miss him calling me the organ man. (I'm not sure if he ever knew my name:) Bless you George Duke and thanks for all the music and friendship :(
One of the best in the world and a good friend as well. He will forever be missed. Allways loved talking with him. No matter what the situation was, he made time to talk with me and I am forever grateful.
The Funky-Jazz Maestro in motion......Since 78' for me ...A man with a heart the size of his Music and inspired me so many times in everything I do..With his absence I play his music more
may first taste of George was a Flora Purim album 1973 'butterfly dreams",,excellent album today..with stan clarke joe henderson..airto....unbeknown I heard him on Frank zappa's 1970 album"chungas revenge"

Arguably THEE GREATEST FUNK/JAZZ FUSIONIST OF ALL TIME!!! While we can never bypass the legendary Herbie Hancock, who is credited with starting Fusion after the teachings of Miles Davis, George Duke perhaps personified it. Herbie Hancock and George Duke ARE the foundations of Fusion.
GEORGE DUKE IS A HUGE PIECE OF MY HEART< FROM THE ZAPPA DAYS THROUGH THE BRAZILIAN LOVE AFFAIR AND ALPHONSE THE BELOVED I LOVE YOU GEORGE FOREVER.....................
His music feels like family. In the knowledge that he's gone I mourn. His music is full of life and it welcomes you like a favorite uncle. Always happy, funky or a surprising gift of arrangements. Thank God for G. D.
Thanku sir duke. Mr g.duke from the begining to the end .he has left us .BUT his music will always be with US thats the gift he left us all of us i always fell better wen i listen to G.D tune or video. THANKU G.D 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
George was the most versital and sweet brasilian and fusion jazz-rock player of them all! He will be missed! My heart goes out to all his great partners, whom have a very short list in getting pianists for their next gigs! Stanley and the other top guns! We love you!
I love the fact that George could play all different genre style of music, I have learned here on You tube all the talent he played with! As skilled of a musician he left room to try new instrument (synthesizer). Love the Funk,Jazz and Rock when he played with Frank Zappa mixing it up with the Mothers of Invention!
for all of his genius at the keyboards, love the fact the George enjoys singing so much. He cld get others to do it, but he's so unashamed. It's in there.... and he get's it out, his way. Don't change a thing.
Sorry to hear about the passing of George Duke. He was one artist that could make me feel good and put my mind at ease when I would have a bad day. I will always remember him for the song DC City because I am resident of DC and he paid a great tribute to my hometown when I listen to the words. He will surely be missed. R.I.P.
I turned to music because of certain musicians I saw and listened to play and what they did with their improvisational craft. Mr Duke bordered on his funky soul but he has jazz hands . I understand he was very shy about his singing voice which I never understood because I thought it very mellow and competed with other songs of the time. Having placed his name in such huge letters on the musical wall, I consider it an honor to have been paying attention. Truly missed you are sir.
the guitar player is a beast!!! and I love the sounds GD is bringing out of the Motif and using the faders to transition the sounds & songs!!! he is still my teacher even after his death never forgotten
A super talented cat that was forging his way through this maze called life but with a deeper and wider understanding than most of dissecting and blending time signatures and tonal harmonic in and around melodic references through and around some of the funkiest grooves...to say it simply a master musician.RIP George...thank you.
George Duke there will never be another. Very talented and gifted. LOVE YOU my friend. I will miss you but your music will always live on with everyone. Much love to the family.
What a truly jam session that's going on in haven! Man when times comes I will see all of my famliy and friend's once again and I will have the best seat to see the troubadours play again I'll see you on the other side Rip George Duke Hotep! Timeless3
This the best clip anybody has ever posted for George duke. We finally get to see him doing some fusion...More please I beg of you...HD would be nice because this clip is rather distorted. But thank you soooooo much anyway. WOW.
there is the insinuation that George could possess the mastery that Miles defines with a quartet had no horn in front. Manson & Johnson fueled a simmer Maestro George flex’d to epic extent. I was convinced, when exposed to the triumvirate with Ronald Bruner, Jr holding down drum chair, at Jazz Bakery, mid-n0ughts, that Mr. Duke had nailed an ensemble for the ages- this reinforces the conviction. From Zappa & Ponty to the apogee!
I was shocked when I heard the news. Another truly blessed talent goes to play the great gig in the sky, while we are bombarded with fake plastic music for zombies. RIP The Duke.
I was there watching GD on live. Awezome concert as you know GD is one of the Jazz master piece. Great Jazz musician with cool attitude and pretty sporting though. Bravo JJF.
George we want you to eb happy and reunited with your beloved wife! Enjoy Paradise, you deserve it , you made so many people happy with your music and genuine personality! A rare treat in a great musician and worldfamous artist, a humble and king musical giant. George Rocks on!

Yeah, can never go wrong when playing George Duke. "Wow" is perhaps an understatement . . . George is magnificent!?
The Aura Will Prevail - Thanks George for the pleasure of your playing and was glad to see you at the London Rainbow Finsbury Park, 1978.
Mr. Duke, thanks for everything, sir.
Always liked his playing. Badass tone, great phrasing and his comping over George is sweet.
RIP Jeff Lee.
This is just what true FUNK is no other words needed to describe this music.
George was the most versital and sweet brasilian and fusion jazz-rock player of them all! He will be missed! My heart goes out to all his great partners, whom have a very short list in getting pianists for their next gigs! Stanley and the other top guns! We love you!

That drummer is not a joke. I would have loved to see George Duke sit in with Azymouth
Dr.Funk "George Duke's" will live on forever. Thank God. Chaz Man!!
Mike Manson's solo on 6 o'clock is the coolest, baddest bass solo I've ever heard in my life.

RIP George Duke you were an inspiration to me
What a great Bassist is Michael Mason !How well he keep the Grove ! Just the necessary notes !
Michael Manson, you mean. Yeah, how wonderful it would be (if you're the keyboard player let's say) to have HIM supporting you!
Isn't it amazing how what you DON'T play is just as important as what you DO play?
Exactly! Hahaha...it’s not the notes u play but the ones u don’t. Pocket!!
He’s John Legend before there was a channel for super talented pianist singers to get main stream visibility.
