Ever since I saw Eliminate making videos on UA-cam sampling funny sounds, I’ve been watching how much he plays with envelopes. For the most part I honestly use automation for everything 😂 automating envelopes is going to be a perfect addition to my workflow
They possess extraordinary power. I've made that sound like a line from a superhero movie trailer, which was only a little bit intentional. But it's true that Envelopes + Automation can be enough to make an entire track.
@@jonobuchananmusicit would be cool to dive into talking about the enveloper plugin as well and how to use that to shape/form sounds on other vsts or recorded samples! 😃
Interesting question Didier. I don't think you could directly. But you could certainly create lines of Envelope Automation for one instance of Retro Synth, create a second instance and copy the Automation data to this second track, to achieve the same effect.
I'd say the Chemical Brothers all over envelope shaping. Cool technique. Thanks Jono. Can you apply the Envelope and filters to an analog source too? (I'm thinking about my real bass guitar)
You sure can. Have a look at the Enveloper plug-in. I’ll make a video about that sometime soon but it should give you some of what you’re looking for. Thanks John.
Hi Using default Logic synth instruments how would you set up the mod wheel where it goes from a dull sound and as you move mod wheel upwards it gets brighter Thanks just started learning about mod wheel
Hi Brian. Different Logic instruments handle assigning the Mod Wheel to Filter Cutoff in different ways but in Retro Synth, click the Settings button in the bottom right-hand corner and you'll see a number of sliders, one of which is labelled Mod Wheel to Filter Cutoff. Push that slider across to the right to increase the effect. However, you'll also hear more Vibrato as you push the Mod Wheel up as, by default, the Mod Wheel is often assigned that way in Retro Synth. If you don't want that, close the Settings and drop the vertical slider on the right-hand side of the LFO and Vibrato sections to 0, at the bottom. That will de-couple the Mod Wheel from those treatments and leave you with the Mod Wheel > Filter Cutoff assignment.
Mate you make it so clear and simple to understand. Legend!
Really appreciate that, thank you.
Nice envelopes, nice tweaks.
Nice words, nice font.
Well done! Isolating the envelopes teaches so much about syntheses. Thanks!
Thanks Gary. You're welcome!
Thanks for your help Jono
Hi Jon. You’re very welcome.
Thank you very much, Jono, very interesting video and I’ve learned a lot!
Great - glad it was helpful!
Nicely done
Cheers Donnie!
So helpful! Thank you so much!

3:57, nice skills! 😁
Why thank you... ; )

@@Bittamin Great suggestion. I'll add it to the list.
Classic!
Cheers Brett!
Excellent! So simple yet so powerful. Could you have multiple instance of RetroSynth ‘talking’ to each other?

@@jonobuchananmusic Nice way to go about it! Got to be tried out...
