About your Peperomia Hope, we always want to have really large plants but there is something beautiful about a small plant that is very full and healthy and makes such a statement by itself. I love them.
Hi Claire! Nice to see you back! Such an awesome plant update! About Dieffenbachia. It is common for plants to change or lose variegation after a chop. I'm not a scientist, so take my word with a pinch of salt. A variegated plant can be referred to as a chimera-an organism composed of cells with more than one distinct genotype. For instance, cells on different layers can be genetically different (a periclinal chimera). If the plant has one growing point, the disposition of mutated (yellow) and normal(green) cells remains the same, and you see a consistent variegation pattern. After chop, disposition and ratio of variegated and not variegated cells will depend on where the dormant bud is located. If it is located in an area with no variegation, it will revert to the original (wild) version, and it is exactly what happened to your Dieffenbachia, in my opinion 😀.
I find this episode to be very helpful, 6 months did show much growth on some but not all, but the point is, we all have to be patient for our potted companions and not be so frustrated when we do not see the growth we desire. Another update like this would be fun.
Plant funeral! In loving memory of... ❤ One youtuber I watch does these once a year and I find it strangely therapeutic and helps me mentally not be so hard on myself.
Yes! That’s absolutely why the dieffenbachia looks different. I find the varieties with similar variegation look so much alike as juveniles. My favorite variety is the ‘tiki’, which I think you’d live because it has minty silver blueish hues! And I absolutely agree with the airflow and buildup in certain vessels. The more airflow, the less sludge. That’s why I add chunky perlite to my pon. I’ve found that makes a huge difference in both the buildup and root health because it’s lighter in weight than the other pon components so the roots can move a little easier through the vessel AND the mix of component sizes create air pockets. ❤
Loved this update! That little terrarium plant looks very cool in the current shape glass. I’m also propagating a little bear paw I thought was gonna die 😅
Good to see you again Claire, I've been looking forward to seeing another video from you 😁 these plant updates are great, I think that hoya looks very cool in that glass container
I absolutely love your update videos! It motivates me to keep up with my own planty chores & to stick with the ones I feel are slow-growing because in a few months I'll see a difference! Thanks! 🌿🪴🌱
The growth is amazing!! Thanks so much for sharing, your plants are so cool and it makes me excited for my collection too, even when growth seems slow :) I’d also be so down if you made an episode two of plant comparisons :) also happy birthday!!! I hope it was lovely!!❤️ I’ll be 31 is December:)
Hey Claire you like weird Hoya, right? How do you feel about the Hoya spartioides? It's a Hoya that usually doesn't really have leaves. And it apparently needs super high humidity despite looking like a dead stick.
Is that a Groot figure behind your Manjula?? Adorable! I have one hanging from the hook of my pothos😊. Mini Groot figures and other mini animals are in all my pots, gives them extra character💚🪴
Just watched the '300+ Houseplant Tour' and I now realize my house is a barren wasteland! 🌵 I need to step up my plant game before my succulents start judging me! 😂 Seriously though, can we get a map to navigate through all those green beauties? I think I just found my new happy place! 🌿🏡
I just potted up my Hoya Publicalx Splash cuttings last week once it put out a spike. I really like that plant. I also put my manjula on a moss pole. I want to see how big the leaves get. Sydney plant guy has one with massive leaves 😲
How do u keep the peperomia hopes leaves to be flat instead of curling down? For lighting do u just give it bright indirect light or do u give in direct light? Do u just water when the soils completly dry? If anyone knows please let me know cuz ive been struggling with leaf curly ever since i got it. Thanks.
I also think that dieffenbachia may change as they mature. Could they revert? Anyway I have one which main larger leaves are quite different from small leaves growing at its base. I guess time will tell, as they say.
I do have a question... How do you keep the semi hydro from molding? I keep getting mold, regardless of the container or the position in the house :/ And we don't live in a humid area. Btw I super enjoy and learn from your videos. Thank you!
The dieffenbachia is either reverting, or the color just hasn't come in for the adult form. Baby dieffenbachia and aglaonema looks super different as babies often, then the color comes in later. It will be interesting to see what it ends up looking like. :)
Thank you for sharing this interesting video! But keep care of the dieffenbacchia: touching the leafs is dangerous, because the whole plant is very toxic!!! Greetings from Germany

Maybe I'm morbid - and I'm not asking you to do it - but I'd love a video on plants that didn't make it! 😂😅😢

I agree I would also benefit from seeing which plants didn’t make it. It would be good to know I’m not alone in my struggle!

Lovely to see such beautiful growth, it’s the best part of the plant hobby seeing them grow and thrive! ❤

I love it when the video starts with Claire announcing CHAOS 💚🪴
I love your videos! You’re one of the creators that has inspired my plant journey!
To me that dieffenbachia looks like its reverted back to its original form
Absolutely love the anthurium pallidiflorum.

I just love your plant videos ❤ Thanks for sharing another great one as always.
Love these up to date videos of them from then to now
I just got started with plants and I’ve been looking for videos like this. You’re a true queen.
Love this video and this idea it’s so cool to see how much they grew and what you learned

In my experience to keep those big beautiful difenbacia leaves you have to keep the plant to one tree like stem
Happy birthday Claire 🎂 🥳 xx
Just watched the '300+ Houseplant Tour' and I now realize my house is a barren wasteland! 🌵 I need to step up my plant game before my succulents start judging me! 😂 Seriously though, can we get a map to navigate through all those green beauties? I think I just found my new happy place! 🌿🏡
So Claire I know you have talked about some places but where did you get those pretty little circle necklaces?

I find my euphorbias are deciduous they will lose leaves in the winter and then the leaf again in spring and summer

Very fun video! 🎉❤
Can we talk about the taped up leaf?
The diefenbachia looks like it reverted
Yay! Just in time for my planty chores today!
were did you get your anthurium pallidiflorum
Diefenbachia looks reverted many sansevieria do this when you propagate from leaf cuttings
Did the diffendbaccia maybe revert to the original?
I do have a question... How do you keep the semi hydro from molding? I keep getting mold, regardless of the container or the position in the house :/ And we don't live in a humid area.

Do you grow your euphorbia in pon and if so is it cactus pot or basic pon?
Did you prop the peperomia hope cuttings?
Q: my peperomia Hope shot out an inflorescence . Should I cut it off? It’s about 3+ inches long. What do I do 🙈
Thank you for sharing this interesting video! But keep care of the dieffenbacchia: touching the leafs is dangerous, because the whole plant is very toxic!!!

My euphorbia I bought just rotted.

I am so glad you are doing videos now at 30 minutes...the long videos are too much. Thank you.
