This is a very rare, and very cool video of the full ride of "it's a small world" from 1986 at Disneyland. This video shows a mostly full ride through 20 years after it opened at Disneyland. The video starts with a few clips of the mostly original clock parade (Everything except for the Clock Tower being repainted to shades of blue in 1977, and the pitch of the Chimes being altered around the same time). It's easily one of the best 80's videos I've seen of Clock Parade, and then shows a mostly complete ride through with a few very rare elements. When you enter the Welcome room, you can see the original entry spiel, "Bank of America Welcomes you to a Magic Kingdom of all the World's children". The footage of the second half of the Welcome room is some of the best I've ever seen from the 80's, when they still had the Heraldic Banners of the World in that section. Also, this is probably the earliest footage that I've ever seen of the Korea scene that was added just before this video to the left of Japan in the Asia room, which displaced part of Japan, but it was still very nice to finally have Korea represented more in the ride (Previously there were only a couple dolls, only added in the late 70's/early 80's). That being said, somehow, the English audio that played in the East Asia portion at this time was missing for some reason. This is very strange as the audio was present since at least 1984/85, because there are a couple 1985 videos (Including one from that January), where the audio can clearly be heard. I don't know why this was, but if I had to guess the audio might have been broken temporarily, as it wasn't the only track in the ride at the time, that went missing. For example, in the Latin America room, the Brazil audio went missing for at least a few years until around 1988 (Then again, but when the whole soundtrack was replaced with the one from Disneyland Paris between 1993-2002). In the Goodbye room, they still had the original goodbye message and the original banner near the end of the room that advertised the souvenir brochures that were sold on the Disneyland Office of Bank of America on Main Street USA. You can't even see the goodbye message (It was on the kites between the rainbows and the advertisement), but those familiar with the early-mid 80's Goodbye message & advertisement should be able to recognize it at the very end of the video. It was replaced with a similar, but different variant in 1987. The rest of the footage is really awesome as well, so I hope you enjoy it!

Probably my favorite variant of the finale ever. Pretty lavender colors, dark, yet still has the sun!! Just missing the farewell banner…

This is one of my all time favorite Finale variants too, the lavender was extremely pretty and so is that wonderful sun. However, I also really wish they kept the colored walls from 1966, as they were replaced with the black curtain around 1978/79, and even the 1964 adult chorus (Removed around the mid 70's, restored in 2003). I personally love the 1966-68 Finale the best, as despite being mostly white set pieces, the colored lights were obviously there since 1964-65, and in 1966 they installed the colored walls & more tapestry, despite strangely removing the original farewell banner & stars at the same time. It was also much brighter until around 1968/69, which I personally prefer to the darker version here, but I also love the darker version too and completely see how some people prefer it.

@@benjaminroberson1924 oh yeah I also prefer the 64 finale chorus too, though I feel like debney also works really well with it. The darkness makes it have a nice and chill night time kinda vibe (to me, I’m pretty sure I’m the only one who sees it this way lol) which I actually really like, maybe because I’m a night owl though lol. And I think debney kind of helps encapsulate that vibe mixed with the dark night theme well since it’s less bouncy. Although that’s very ironic considering how much I love the sun being in it, I just really do like the dark hues, and I think with new updated lighting it could actually be beautiful. Plus, the ceiling isn’t nearly as visible when it’s dark lol. Not to say that the current/60’s finale isn’t beautiful, because it is, but it kinda misses the mark for me in terms of detail (a lot of the designs that were on the 80’s sets were unfortunately just painted over with white) and doesn’t really have as cool of a vibe. I do miss the tapestries too though and maybe colored walls, just a bit of a darker color

Ngl, I prefer the Welcome and Goodbye room a lot more than what we have today

Me too! I love the 80's Welcome/Goodbye rooms much better than today's, primarily because of them being more detailed and closer to the classic Blair style the ride is known for. The current versions are pretty good on their own, but IMO they are nowhere near as good as any of the previous versions, largely for the reasons mentioned above, as well as being better in general.

Now THIS is the It's a Small World ride I remember!!! I was a bit disappointed when I rode in 2018 (hadn't rode it in a very long time). Thanks for sharing!

Although I still love any and every version of this ride, I do agree that this and other older (60's-80's) versions were better (and perfect IMO) than most more recent versions, especially after the 2008 refurbishment which added the completely annoying and unnecessary Disney characters and Spirit of America room. Despite the fact that the ride is supposed to be a tribute to peace and goodwill everywhere in the world, Walt didn't want to include America in the ride so that riders would come off with a greater consciousness of the rest of the world. And glad you enjoyed this video as much as I did finding it!

I agree completely, they were simplified around 1990 and never the same since!

Why is it very hard to hear the English vocals in the East Asia scene

Probably because they were turned off temporarily. It was only like this for a few months in 1986-87 because I have seen one other video from 1987 where it was also like this: ua-cam.com/video/7XAusnfVwJc/v-deo.html
