The Aprilia SXR160, so hot at the 2020 Auto Expo will be on sale within a matter of weeks. We got a chance to ride the largest of the Piaggio scooters in India and a maxi-scooter at that. It’s got an 11PS engine, the same as in the SR160 but with minor re-tuning. Aprilia also tuned the suspension for a smoother, more pliant ride. But above all, it’s got presence and style. Shumi finds out if it’s worth the ₹1.25-1.3 lakh price tag it’s supposed to come with.

SR 160.... PD should lower the volume of the background music a little bit when Shumi is on the show, coz when Shumi speaks we don't want to hear anything else... The joke on Varun was hilarious, waiting for Varun's come back on that..he he.. Lol.. Cheers to PD and Shumi and Painter.

Yeah they considered it. That's why there are Scooters like Activa, Duet, Jupiter etc

I really don’t think it will do well, considering it will be priced high
Although it's based on the sr160 and shares the same power plant (engine) slightly tuned but it makes it an good performance machine and for the pricing some people don't care much about it ,it's an scooter for performance enthusiast and for the pricing Aprilia should revise the pricing although it's going to sell good if you ask me like the sr125,sr150,sr160 which in goa is very common and people will love this kinda approach by Aprilia and they should probably improve their service

Such a sweet bike, Apparently based on "the same platform as the SR160". So older versions. I loved my Moto Guzzi.
Will you be able to shoot this side by side with blaze ? I know it's hard to find running conditioned blaze now a days. Myself swap blaze against 600 cc nano six years back.

By this i literally went on youtube to check the kinetic blaze 20nm of torque wow ahead of its time aprilia sxr160 is based on aprilia sr160.
The kinetic blaze was a rebranded Korean vehicle I guess...
Would rather wait for 250cc. 3 issues,
1. Windshield is too short.
2. No external fuel cap.
3. Boot space is not enough for a "maxi" scooter.
Plus, the cruising speed is too low at 75kmph.
As a previous owner of the Kinetic Blaze I'm glad Maxi scooters are making a come back to India. Blaze was a huge scooter & that was what I liked about it. Even though the new maxi scooters aren't that big I think this size is more suitable for everyone.

Scooter looks like a head turner🔥 but Aprilias reach and service might impact on the sales again burgman leads the maxi scooter segment as of know
People be complaining about its massive price tag, but bruh its not some ordinary scooter for the mass market. Its more of like a premium package, which only a few will actually buy, and customers in this segment don't really focus much on value for money nd stuff. They just want a machine which is premium, powerful and provides a great feeling of exclusivity.
Aprilia SXR 16O is based on MAXI scooters, which mean maximum power with more under space. It's like a sports bike with more endurance as scooter.

It is based on APRILIA SR 160..GOOD TO SEE SMALL INNOVATIONS COMING in this year 2020.. though bluetooth connectivity is a safety feature every 2 wheeler should have for maps navigation
It's based on the old SR models, especially the SR 160 for the engine and the design seems to be like that of burgman.
Many cars in India use the same fiat engine, so that don't see the problem with having the same 160 engine, as for the design, it's a Maxi, and most maxi have similiar styling, if I might say so, brugman looks more like Kinetic Blaze for that matter.

This looks almost like a burgman street!!
No Hazard lights, engine kill switch & not even a bluetooth console which is available in Burgman 125 & Ntorque. Ntorque is the only scooter has the hazard lights. The only thing you would getting for safety aspect is ABS which is default from 150cc(bike or scooter).
It's based on the SR160. But I feel it needed a longer wheel base and the same rims as the SR 160. A bigger engine will also do good. Could have pulled something from the Vespa tie up.
My dad bought the blaze when I was 6 and then owned it for the next 13 years because nothing like it came since.
The Aprilia SXR 160 is based on the Aprilia SR 160 with the same frame. Video was amazing but want to know what that mode button does....does it come with riding modes ??

Its based on the sr 160. Simple u said it a dozen of times. The engine has minor changes that from the sr 160. But the changes are the body, styling and more seat length and comfort and also the leg space is increased✌️

I like the design particularly the 3 light headlight. I would have liked to see the SR160 having the digital Bluetooth cluster. I also expect it to be a good performer as its based on the SR160 but would have really liked to see the same 14 inch wheels
It’s based on the SR160. I’ve ridden Huge maxi scooters in Thailand and yeah, if we get a 250cc mill here, it would just be perfect.

Maxi scooters are something very close to my heart, as you said I was disappointed with kinetic blaze too. I was equally excited for Honda PCX but instead they launched lack lustre NAVI. Burman street is promising but lacks power. Hoping SXR 160 performs better.
Now to answer your question... SXR 160 is based on SR 160 as it shares the engine but minor changes in the platform, suspension, gear ratios and set of wheels.
Burgman 125 although with less power, is much more dynamic scooter. It has better leg space which is important for long tour. I can easily cruze at 80-85 KMPH on highway with Burgman and still get the power stored to overtake 😊
they definitely gonna sell more of those windshield visor... many will buy it to install on their own bike

Need more clarity on the ride quality as you mention, it’s better than the SR160 which is not saying much as the SR has a back breaking ride on our “excellent” roads.
Let us know the ride quality compared to the Burgman or Access which is really good for the class along with the reasonable power on offer. Of course, the Activa 125 is the ride quality champion in this category I think minus the power of a 125 of course 😊

The USP for SR160 is the 14 inch wheel. Don't know why any manufacturer not bringing 14 inch wheeled scooter with reasonable pillion comfort and softer suspension!!!! consider this as my giveaway answer as well.
I bought this maxi scooter today and must have riden around 10 to 15 kms with few breaks in between . When I reached home and opened the underseat storage the documents and medical kit were so hot seemed like they were about to burn if left for some more time . The plastic / fibre also was very hot . Will go to showroom tomorrow. Hope they have filled enough oil when delivered.
Good that Aprilia came up with a maxi scooter. But not as powerful as scooters sold in other countries. And too bad it doesn't have much features. But anyways they're not like another company who used to show maxi scooters in concept and forgot about it later.

The SXR 160 is based on Maxi Scooter design. Aprilia seem to have combined their SR125 and SR 850 together to come up with SXR160.

It's kind of touring and lifestyle scooter which you can use on onroad and off-road also.
I didn't know Honda sold the Forza 300 in India. I'd have to keep an eye out if they start again...

I have both the birgman and the sxr 160 both are ok, burgman is the best, sxr is 1.8 onroad goa,, burg is 1.2 , burg is comfortable anytime any day
Sexier SXR160 is based on the SR160 from the house of Aprilia. When we look at the pricing and general Indian mentality of 'should I pay 1.6 lakhs on road for a scooter', the Burgman makes more sense.
