Shows Lorne is actually open to letting the show evolve into younger audiences and cast/writers who actually are in touch with a younger pace/demo. I know two of them are related to 1990s SNL writers and they have some videos like this on their own UA-cam channel. As for why are they making the funniest skits SNL has seen in a decade: because the show deserves it. Because for every valley the show has had in quality, there's a peak.

this is the first snl sketch that has genuinely made me laugh the entire sketch in a long long time so if an intern is reading this you better tell your boss to give these people a raise or please post their sketches because they are actually really funny

It appears as though a worthy successor has arrived to follow in the footsteps of Robert Smigel's TV Fun House and The Lonely Island crew's Digital Shorts. My favorite thing about the pre-taped material is that they fearlessly run with bizarre, extremely fantastical, eccentrically peculiar and outlandish humor and it seems like these chaps will have no trouble delivering that.
