    Very interesting as I was just researching a set of articles on a section of this topic- Can dogs eat chicken? How do you know what size of topic to aim for? (in terms of keyword volume.)

    Quick question. If I have a site about New Jersey.. and the first thing I want to dive into for topical authority is New Jersey Food- do I make a pillar page for New Jersey Food As a whole and go as in depth as a I can and then take the multiple sub topics in that page and write about them and link back to the New Jersey Food page?

    Really good breakdown and tools recommendations! 1 question:
    1) to clarify for the subtopic page "royal canin dog food review(parent) " wouldnt "royal canin French bulldog" be subheading or are you adding new page?! Feels like that would be keyword cannibalize it.

    • @constantinoesterling
      @constantinoesterling  3 роки тому +1

      I didn't look at the SERPs, so it's possible that it might cannibalize, yes. But, in general, you'll often want to include subtopics as subheadings on the parent page, AND create dedicated pages for them if they have sufficient search volume. Keyword cannibalization happens less often than one might think. Comparing SERP similarity can give you a better idea and/or you could run your whole keywords list through something like keywordcupid.com/ to group them. Although neither method is a 100% accurate prediction of whether cannibalization will occur, they both give you a better idea.

    Main topic is "fades haircuts" I need to create pillar post .
    Under 0."fades haircuts "
    1. Low fades(pillar post)
    2.mid fades(pillar post)
    3.skin fades(pillar post)
    1.low fades (10 posts)
    2.mid fades(10 posts)
    3.skin fades(10 posts)
    How can I structure them in order as cluster on the site?
    Categories, subcategories, pages posts?
    Thank you

    • @constantinoesterling
      @constantinoesterling  3 роки тому +1

      This sounds like "fades haircuts" could be used as category (either actual WordPress category or a hub page that links out to all pages about fade haircuts), and then the different types of fades would be the parent/pillar pages with a set of child/supporting pages each. I normally use a flat URL structure and only silo with internal linking as explained here infinitnet.io/circle-jerk-silo/

    Great video, thank you. Question. I get the idea is to cover these entities for overall topical relevance to help rank the main entity. But how far do you go to "cover" the entity? For example on your list for best dog food you have "hair". Would you write an entire article about dog hair as it relates to dog food? Or is including a few sentences about dog hair in another article or guide sufficient? I know that ideally, we'd want to find a good keyword to rank for about dog hair, but let's assume we didn't want traffic around that topic. How do you know when you've covered a topic/entity sufficiently?

    • @constantinoesterling
      @constantinoesterling  3 роки тому +2

      Good question. If I run a site that's only about dog or pet food, I'd skip the "hair" entity if I don't find a good keyword with a least SOME search volume that contains "dog(s)", "hair", and "food" or "feed(ing)". Like "what to feed your dog for thicker hair" or "dog food for better hair" or something. On the other hand, if my site would be about dogs in general, I'd add articles about dog hair care etc. So it a) depends on the scope of your site, and b) is always a judgement call when it comes to relevancy. Just skip the entities that are out of scope/irrelevant. There are always going to be a bunch of them.

    • @marcmcdermott4742
      @marcmcdermott4742 3 роки тому +1

      @@constantinoesterling makes sense, thanks. so in your example of 'best dog food for better hair', if there was search vol. then yes that totally makes sense. and if not, bin it. what about on the other end of the spectrum? let's say there was a super competitive entity with loads of search vol. but you would never rank for it. you would just find a longer tailed version of that entity where you would have a chance at ranking?

    • @constantinoesterling
      @constantinoesterling  3 роки тому +3

      @@marcmcdermott4742 Yep, either go for a long tail variation specifically or create a page around the short tail keyword anyway and target long tails in H2s and H3s on that page to get it to rank for them. Usually, even if you don't rank for the main keyword of a page if it's too competitive, you'll still be able to rank it for a ton of long tails if targeted in subheadings/subtopics. This way, instead of only going after one of them, you can go after every long tail that makes sense to include in an article about the main keyword.

  •  2 роки тому

    Hi there. Should we create separate content for the keywords in the list you have prepared, or should we write a single and very comprehensive content that includes all of them?

    • @constantinoesterling
      @constantinoesterling  2 роки тому +4

      Both would work. Generally the best strategy would be to write one comprehensive pillar page that includes all subtopics and then build a small cluster around this (5-10 pages) targeting subtopics/long-tails and interlink.

    Thanks for the video, wouldn't topical authority lead to keywords cannibalizations?

    • @constantinoesterling
      @constantinoesterling  2 роки тому

      It usually doesn't, but still could in some rare cases. You can run your keyword list through a decent keyword grouping/clustering tool like KeywordCupid to minimize chances of cannibalization.
