On one hand, Cinders at least realized she was a trashcan of a parent, finding her children better places to live amongst Twolegs, yet on the other hand Sol literally mentions he waited for her to return for him, watching out the window for her every day, clearly showcasing how affected he was by her abandonment of him.
In Palebirds defense, she lost one of her kits during kitting with tallstar, which caused her to have severe depression, and added onto that depression she had Postpartum depression. Now that doesn’t give her any right to be rude, but still she was only distant because she didn’t want to get “too attached” to Tallkit in fear of losing him.

I was really glad to see Rootspring let them have it in Ivypool's Heart and how he sympathized with Tree.
I think you could add Dewy Leaf here too. She was overprotective of Sunshadow and practically didn't let him leave the cave, and after she started a second family, she allowed her new mate to control her son and when he hit him, she did nothing about it. I understand that she suffered because her first mate left her and she lost her kits, but she should have been nicer to him and she was the reason why Sunshadow ran away
The only thing missing is the worst brothers. For example, Hawkfrost, Splashtail (in the biological sense), Tangleburr and Deerfoot (in the adoptive sense).
I disagree with two of these, Mapleshade and Brightflower. Brightflower is made out to be a bad mother, though she was a great mother to all kits and even supported Yellowfangs decision as a medicine cat and was happy for all her kits. The reason Brightflower turned on her quickly was because she just lost her two kits (another litter) and Yellowfang was the only cat that had any evidence leading to her. She was also struck with shock and grief. Mapleshade was a great mother! The way she protected and treated her kits. Her kits died whrn she tried to give them a warrior life, because they had been kicked out of their clan! She only became evil because of anger that her kits had died.
I agree with Brightflower! But not with Mapleshade. It’s obvious she’s not a good cat from the beginning. It’s not because she had a half clan relationship, it’s because she was possessive and didn’t understand that she could do anything wrong. In the end, her actions of choosing to cross the river instead of finding somewhere to stay for the night led to their deaths. Shes well written and I also sympathise with her, but she’s in general a bad mum. Not as bad as a lot of them on here though
@@RaineTheCalico I'm going to have to disagree with you. Mapleshade was never possessive nor a bad mother. She loved and protected her kits with everything in her being. She was never a bad cat from the beginning, she was a good and loyal warrior. It was never her fault for Thunderclan's cruelty of exiling them out of their own birth clan. It was never Mapleshade's fault because of the flood of the river, how could she have known it was going to flood? They needed to get to Riverclan before a Thunderclan patrol jumped out and tried to attack them, that is why she didn't want to stop in fear of their old clan mates trying to kill them just because they hated that they were half clan. Mapleshade was never a bad mother so you need not to accuse her of anything.

She's the narrorator of the book, so that why it seems almost like she's in the right. TL; DR: she's irresponsible and suffered many mental health issues. It's obvious she loved her kits very much.
