Every time she brings tears in my eyes cause it is so beautiful. Angelina Jordan ASTAR (the name says it all), this young norwegian genius is imo the best singer on the planet! I am 71 y old and have never heard a singer like her in my whole life. Her voice touches my heart and cleanses my soul.

This young lady is such a gift to us all.
In 2014, a little Norwegian girl was named and codified, a national treasure by both the King of Norway and the prime Minister. That same year, she sang for the Nobel peace prize winners all at the age of 8.
In 2023, that same girl, now almost 18 once again graced the Nobel peace prize stage and sang for the recipient once again.
That young girl is none other than Angelina Jordan.
Angelina Jordan made history with this performance.
Angelina is the only solo singer under the age of 18 to have performed twice at the Nobel peace prize concert.
When I learned the story of Narges Mohammadi, this years recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, and the history of the song "Unchained Melody", I fully understood why Angelina Jordan chose this song.
P.S.: Angelina arranged the music and vocals for this performance. She thanked the director of KORK publicly for allowing her to do this.

Angelina has a gigantic vocal tool box, but she only uses the tools she needs for a particular song. She is not like many other singers that dump their entire tool box on every song. It really takes listening to many different songs from many different styles or genre, to see what she's got. She always keeps you guessing & when you think she is going to do one thing, she will often do the other. Her low notes go much lower while remaining rich, warm & resonant, I just love them. Her high notes are beautiful also, but there are a lot of great sopranos out there. I think she is a contralto.
Most of us just know Angelina's singing touches our hearts on its way to our souls, and we return the love in kind. This was an absolutely amazing performance by Angelina and, very honestly, that fabulous orchestra, KORK. I appreciate your technical background and how that reflects in your appreciation and commentary on Angelina and how she delivers the song in tribute to a different kind of amazing person, Narges Mohammadi, an Iranian dissident, now in prison for her activism for her fellow women.
Angelina has a long standing relationship with the KORK orchestra and they got together again to give us this outstanding arrangement of this iconic song. Thx.

This performance was in honour of an Iranian female activist, currently on hunger-strike in an Iranian jail. At this Nobel Peace prize ceremony, Angelina was showing great respect presenting the lyrics of this song, in a restrained way, to honour this occasion.

Hi Shawka, Angelina arranges all the music changes words if she feels its warranted. She has full control since she was 7 years old. Shes a muscical Genius. Great reaction Shawka.
Her power is in her grace which is abundantly present in her soul and manifest in her larynx.
The Orchestra KORK, a ver respected orchestra knows Angelina since she was around 10 years old and colaborated with her a few times. They also knew, when the treasure of Norway put her hand into the arrangement it would be great. AJ is KNOWN to feel music. It was an honor to sing for the second time before age 18 for the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE and for the cause. She has partially iranian heritage, so it was fitting to sing for a imprisoned Iranian Mother to her twins, the same age as Angelina.

Thanks for the professional insight. I don't have the technical reasons for loving her singing, but I love the reactors who can explain her immense talent and technique. What I DO know is that she moves me in ways that are hard to understand and even when I have heard a performance many times and know what is coming, she causes electric tingles and goosebumps up and down my arms and legs. She makes me smile, she makes me cry, she makes me gasp in awe and amazement....I wish the best to this young woman and selfishly hope she never stops sharing her incredible talent and gift.
Andy pointed out the backstory here but one additional comment. This sensitive young lady delivered this mostly melancholy and subdued performance as a love song from mother to children. You will see Angelina put her hand over her heart and look to her right where the children of Narges Mohammadi are sitting after she finishes the song. I have no doubt she performed it with deep and sincere emotions. Knowing this the performance is even more powerful. If that is possible.

Angelina was magnificent and she had an enormous influence on the arrangement of the melody. She had previously worked with this particular orchestra when she was younger and they knew each other very well. Shawka, as wonderful and incredibly talented she is, she is ONLY WARMING UP! I know that sounds crazy but you were speaking about how she was raising your eyebrows when she sang in a way that you thought there must be so much more in her package. Oh, there is and in time she will be at a level where there is only room for one. High expectations? Her dedication to her work and her incomparable ability to cover every syllable she sings with a soulfulness that touches our hearts is a force so beautiful it is hard to explain what she does to listeners other than to say, they can feel what she does to them. only Angelina...
Very nice and informative reaction: she can hit the highs - and has an amazing high head voice - but her deep register is to die for... she is the new Elvis !
"No note is unimportant." Sir, that could well be one of Angelina's mottos for singing, too. She *never* waits for the "big" part of the song to wake up and do her thing. Every line, every word, every syllable - they all get her full attention. I could not love her voice or her singing more. Just couldn't possibly. (Until she comes out with more originals and then I'll have to eat my words!)
Strings suspended on high note while the horns do the drama of the sea. The ending is like watching an old Disney movie.
When she did My Funny Valentine, she explored the melody like Stan Getz would on his saxophone.

Absolutely phenomenal masterpiece by this phenomenal artist, Angelina must be so proud and humbled to be singing at this event in her home country Norway 🇳🇴 with the Norwegian Kork orchestra, not the first time Angelina has performed at the Nobel peace event, the last time was in 2014 when Angelina was 8 years old, with her performance of ( It’s A Wonderful World) , Angelina has also collaborated with the Norwegian 🇳🇴 Kork Orchestra before, once with her own arrangement of ( Back To Black ) at 10 years old, and her performance of ( Summertime) again at 10 years old, great reaction thanks 🙏

Angelina is the only artist to have been asked to perform twice at this prestigious event. She said that she always aspired to perform for this event. Not only did she achieved that goal, but she did it twice. She accomplished these achievements by the time she was seventeen years old.

She also did not want this performance to take away from the purpose of the event. Thus she kept it low-key but still beautiful and meaningful. Elvis had nothing to do with this. This was Angelina's arrangement (of Bobby Hatfield's masterpiece)

KORK is the national Norwegian radio orchestra and they are top notch.
Some fans don't like comparisons to other artists, so you might get some flack for that 😂 I think she'd be pleased: Elvis is one of her influences and there are many others. She is all of those and 100% uniquely herself❤
To me Angelina is never about showing of and always about giving the best performance paying attention to each note. Even her hums are magnificent and Hummer sized. A great example of her keeping it simple and beautiful in every detail is when she sings 'Heal the world'.

A power house when she wants to be ,she doesn't use a lot belt ,her music is about soul and emotion, very few females can demonstrate her low and her high and she is still only 18 and not fully developed vocals
In her Las Vegas concerts (Feb 28th) she did go into her head voice in a few songs, not to this extent but just as the song required, not to show off. I have a feeling she likes using it but as in all things with Angelina the music comes first and she only gives what is needed. Very informative reaction and nice to see your love for great music.

Her renditions always have great little nuggets of perfection throughout.
Angelina's vocal skills here was incredible, but what makes this even more impressive is that Angelina worked with KORK (The Norwegian Orchestra) on the arrangement of the music as well! This was created to be more subdued and somber due to the situation of the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Narges Mohammadi, being held in a Iranian prison due to her fight for women's rights. Her two children were at the ceremony to accept the prize on their mother's behalf. This may have touched close to home since Angelina's grandma Mery is Iranian and someone she is extremely close to.

Angelina and KORK (Norwegian Radio Orchestra) just did a magnificent rendition of Unchained Melody! The perfect song for Narges Mohammadi Nobel Peace Prize! Third time with KORK, she did Back to Black and Summertime when she was 10! Has been invited twice to Nobel Peace Prize, previously appeared when she was eight! Narges is in jail for leading the fight for women’s rights in Iran! And let’s not forget Angelina’s Iranian heritage and Oslo is her hometown! The occasion called for a subdued performance by Angelina and the orchestra. She's dressed like an angel, sings like an angel, she is a gift from above. That ending ascends to heaven.
I loved (and agree with) everything you said. I'd like to reflect on one comment: "She sounds so good blending with trombones." She does, but she also sounds incredible blending with cellos. I believe this has to do with her vocal range (tessitura). As a contralto, she sings more in a tenor range, which happens to be where cellos and bones sound most mellow.
Masterful performance by Angelina! Masterful performance by Kork. The interplay between AJ and the instruments, the balance, the dynamics, the arrangement that subverts expectations but still leaves you breathless and satisfied (😅)

The ability this girl has to captivate and move the people who listen to her is absolutely incredible, as is her sensitivity in choosing and interpreting the song for this ceremony.This performance of her is fascinating and wonderfully intimate, she reinterpreted this legendary song and adapted it perfectly to the emotion of the homage to the painful story of Narges Mohammadi! I was moved to see and hear Angelina singing in such an incredibly mature and charming way 7 years after the last time and in the same studio and certainly also with some of the musicians who accompanied her as a child, when she took her first steps towards his musical future. Here Angelina was simply fantastic and wonderfully "unchained", probably the only singer who at only 17 years old has already sung on 2 different occasions at the celebrations of Nobel Prizes.💛🧡❤
