Using the pandoras box to escape, they travel to the future where he meets his reincarnated human form making the same mistake(unable to value things in our lives until they are gone, and unable to overcome our own lies due to fear and insecurity), and so he corrects it. In monkey form, he is immortal so will remember his lost love forever but at least reincarnated form will have happiness.
