That's quite a long-winded answer by Dave Cowens on one question that Don Criqui asked him. I thought one of the most famous plays Cowens made was the slide across the parquet in Game 6 of the 1974 Finals. That was the play where Pat Summerall excitedly said 'What a great play by Cowens!!' That play was immortalized on EPSN / ABC's NBA Finals opening montage a decade ago.
Tom Burleson was known for getting a little rough. So was the halftime guest, Dave Cowens. In fact, Burleson and Cowens had a brawl at Boston Garden in the 1975-76 season.
In my opinion, today's NBA is more entertainment than gamesmanship. Back in the day, players didn't make a zillion dollars and most didn't have a multi-year contract, so they scraped for everything and it showed in their play.
@@markgardner9460 it’s definitely they’re 78-79 rosters but I think it was December 30 when that match up took place. Because in Jan 4 the Knicks played Cleveland.
The Kings got new ownership (out of state) and they did what a lot of owners do - play the city against other cities that do not have a NBA team. Kemper Arena's lease was set to expire after the 1984-85 season and the owners wanted improved attendance and more income, so they moved. This franchise has moved numerous times: 12 years in Rochester until moving to Cincinnati where they played 15 years, then they split between Kansas City and Omaha for 6 seasons until finally residing solely in K.C. for 7 years and now Sacramento has been their home since 1985.
That Phil Ford move!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wind chill factor: -50 Degrees... Ouch Ouch
And thank you for your videos.
Glad you like them!

Cowens could talk, couldn't he? At only 6'9" tall, he really handled himself well against taller Centers. He was out-sized in almost every game.

I didn't know about that brawl - gonna research it and check it out. Thanks for the info!
Back when physical (and heated) play was the norm in the NBA.

GROWN MAN GAME.1979
You got the date wrong in your description
What do you think the game date is?

Ahh, OK. Thank you very much! I appreciate it!
Wait, that game was played in NY. This game was played in KC.
You’re right. Jan 14 lines up a lot more and would also explain the mistake of the date.
Did the Kings EVER draw large crowds in Kansas city? I see why they left for Sacramento.
