I'm 7 years late in finding this interview but what memories it brings back hearing Cameron Hawkins talk about FM & Nash The Slash. I knew nothing about Nash or the band FM when "Black Noise" first came out but I loved the artwork on the album cover & took a chance & bought the LP. The rest is history. From the solo work by Nash The Slash to the music from FM with & without Nash, I've enjoyed it all. Nice interview :)

Cameron was underrated as an artist. Fm was a killer band way ahead of its time. Thanks for the Ear Candy

I grew up on Gordon Road, just a couple of houses across from Cameron. Such a decent guy to all the neighbourhood kids. Loved standing in the Sixt’s driveway, beside the huge willow tree, listening to the incredible music. Thanks Cam

Great musician, stand up guy - wonderful reminiscences on Nash the Slash. Great also to see David Marsden, from 104.5 and the golden age of "FM"

David Marsden aka Dave Mickey...circa 1962....at CKCR radio, Kitchener, Ontario, where Dave, myself and my friend Mark, played the tune, "Palisades Park" by Freddie Cannon, over and over some twenty-odd times, while people kept phoning into the radio station asking, "what the F was going on!". We ordered a lot of pizza that evening! :)

Black Noise and Headroom are both desert island discs for me. Cam is one of my favorite musicians ever.

What a great musician and lovely man Cam is. I was fortunate enough to be the singer and harp player in the blues band, called Catfish, Cam mentions early in the video, it was a complete pleasure playing with him and sharing the stage with what I consider prog rock royalty...in a blues band of all things.

I still would like to see FM release the soundtrack for the 1979 low budget movie Search and Destroy. The music they created for that movie was fantastic. I could listen to it all day and not get tired of it.

What took them so long??? How about why hasn't the musical world STILL not caught up? 50 years ahead of their time. Pure genius album.

Very cool to hear him talk about the Brandenburg Concertos, Switched On Bach, Keith Emerson and Pink Floyd. Like others here, Black Noise is one of my favourites among many and stands up with the best of any other prog rock group.

The great David Marsden - with many influences of music(just like me) as musical influences became my lifeblood and essential vitality! It brought a reserved soul out of my shell to experience the LOVE of MUSIC and appreciation of many diverse artistic expressions. Peace and Love my kindred music lover! Mitch(io) Yamamoto

In 2016 Artoffact Records issued Nash The Slash's debut EP and LP in very nice CD and vinyl editions. On the EP there's an amusing & cool bonus feature called "The Marsden Versions". I bought mine in a shop, but Artoffact sells from their website too (they're in Canada). Well worth checking out!

I'm 50 yrs old and I cannot remember not having Black Noise at the front of my record/cd collection. It is the best progressive music made that proves the synthesizers are not and were never a sterile cold instrument and can have feeling the same as a guitar or piano

WHAT!?! New gen FM without Martin Deller!? This is an outrage!!! I mean, all the best to the new guys and the new band, but without Nash/Jeff, Ben and Martin I'm not sure it's still "FM"! But I'll check it out, and see.
Either way, thanks Cameron (you sounded so strong at NearFest '06!) and Martin and Ben and Nash/Jeff for all the amazing and inspiring music throughout these many years!

I think the new music is pretty good. It's not old FM, but it's not supposed to be. I think it keeps in line with both paying homage to the old and forging forward with the new. As usual, a great interview with David Marsden.
