First movie I watched on VHS. And the first sci-fi movie with so much violence. This movie may be low budget and old but it is still one of the better movies IMHO.
"There can be only one!!" lol...ahhh...Highlander style...but these movies fucking owned man...I still love them...and this fight was definately my favorite.
love this movie. love david hayter i.e. solid snake. love the voice on the guy who plays crain. love the fight scenes. love the audio composer, whom everr he might be. just fuckn love the guyver. people are always looking to reboot franchise nowdays. why not reboot this one? id pay to see it forsure!
the move at 2:28 was the signature move that i thought of in my childhood whenever i 4 got wat the film was called that move waz in my head 4 the reminder and that music was just epic would love 2 see how this movie would look with the technology in movies 2 day
To think that Bionicle brought me here so nearly twenty years ago. Damn I feel old now lmao. But this, THIS, would change my life forever and I wouldn't change that for the world. Okay, now I gotta say the thing... GUYVAAAAAAAH!!!
The only reason this fight is one of the best fights ever made in American cinema industry is just because most of the crew (choreographer, projector, stuntmen, etc.) worked in japanese Tokusatsu series before. That's gotta be one of the best superhero movies ever adapted to American audiences. Odds to Steve Wang and the whole team, not to mention the great David Hayter as our hero!
The first Guyver suit was too rubbery looking to be honest. This suit is far superior. Its got a great rigid quality to it, especially in the chest area. Plus I like how they colored it bluish-grey like in the anime. Only complaint is how supremely underpowered the movie Guyver's are. This movie was made for just under 1 million, that's pretty impressive considering how well the monster costumes and fight coreography are.
this is such a great film it really does the anime justice, the fight sequences in this movie are so ahead of its time.the choreography is so phenomenally good.
I love this movie so much back in the day, watched it I don't know how many times, even though it screws up the story in many ways, it was still a good movie to watch, definitely needs a badass reboot
Steve Wang The Director of Guyver 1 and 2 Stated that he actually met Guyver Manga Creator Yoshiki Takaya and wanted his blessing before making Guyver 2 something close to his vision, he also said that the "Guyver Zoanoid" Concept was an idea that never made the final cut in Takaya's Manga but was pleased with the result in movie form.
@CrawlingCoconut actually they way over used in the movies which really made them cheezy. The zing sound is actually suppose to sound of compressed air being released underneath the feet to keep the Guyver's massive "boots" and force from trashing the terrain.
Because it's a film made by Armor Hero fan, Steve Wang. He marketed it in the United States in pursuit of establishing a good fanbase that would enjoy good vs. evil fight films in the form of Armor Hero. People are here to enjoy this film. Not be stirred up by a heckler like you to interrupt their enjoyment.
it's a move seen in kung fu movies, I believe most notable in the once upon a time in china series starring Jet Li, called the 'No Shadow Kick', though a dub actually called it the shadow kick
Lol wonder how many people knew that the guy playing sean is the voice of snake from metal gear solid. I truly hope they bring back the guyver. With the way movies are done now it could be an amazing movie. American guyver is cool
I figured since the anime was remade several years ago they'd make a remake of the movie by now. All this 3D stuff they keep pulling out of their ears, Guyver would be awesome no matter what format they shoot it in.
@BossDkiller one more thing, Steve Wang (mask and suit designer) is the productor and director for this movie and now, he is directing the kamen rider dragon knight series.
David Hayter ( who is none other than the great Solid Snake himself) is Guyver. Which means he already had the chops to be badass before his most badass character.
wow. thanks for the clip. I loved this movie. Can't say the same for the frist Guyver movie though. Anyway, just wanna comment. If the video quality were a lot poorer, i coulda sworn the Guyver Zoanoid silhouette look like a Predator(yautja).lol
Mark Hamill would have been better as Guyver US than who they actually got to play him (Jack Armstrong was the guy, I do believe). However, I will say this about the first Guyver movie, it gave us one of the best movie lines in history, given when Hamill's character is told that some people will do anything to catch a fish, even tell a fish story: "Well it ain't fish I smell, it's a rat!"
@Ocealot114 Yeah, the choreographer did a great job, as did the Asian martial artists in the suits, it couldn't have been easy. A Guyver movie these days could be F'kin awesome!
i just think its funny that the guy playing guyver in this one is the guy who voices Snake in Metal Gear Solid David Hayter, and who wrote the original scripts for X-men, and a couple of other Comic Movies
I just saw this again today. It's been on cable every now and then, but I had other things to do. It's one of my favorite action movies. Too bad I didn't see it in theaters, I would have loved it more then. Pretty good FX for the day. Makes me wonder: Are they going to make a sequel??? Prequel?? What is funny in G2 is seeing the bad guy answer a page, and no one has cell phones. Funny stuff. reminds me of that parody of 24, when Jack has to find a pay phone to return a page & they have dialup
Tho is one of the best concepts ever the guyver is a badass idea wish there were more movies of a higher financing...btw lotta people don't know the guyver in the second movie is David hayter other wise known as the model and voice of David hayter
I'll give this movie some credit though... at least they tried their best to show the audience what will happen if the control metal of a guyver unit was ripped off...
because for one thing,it's directed by the guy who directs power rangers, next it does the little slow mo things that happens in power rangers, next their moves are somewhat close to power rangers..I do believe you get the point
While I loved this flick. It's just too bad that it took the entire film to actually see the use of the mega-smasher! I really wish the Guyver unit was utilized better than in this film. In no small part because the unit was so well realized. I mean, really, the throat slitting in the beginning was just perfect!
A 3rd movie really needs to be made. Like spawn,if a new movie were to come out..with the right director and storylines, effects, action, etc etc..It could bring back their popularity alot. I'll use ghost rider for example..His movie was good, but not great, bad, but not horrible, but it really helped GR's popularity..since I remember some people didn't even know who GR was until that movie. Guyver would be great in this day and age if they made another movie
@lilsnipe08 dude, if they made this movie and the first one again, it will make so much money now and gain the respect that it should of got the first time!!! I agree...they need to go on ahead and remake it again!!!
I can understand there being a transformation. That's a given. But does anyone else wonder where all the light comes from when the transformation take place?
I'm suprised that such a great story , got such bad critic thoughts, as well as not so good movies.Although I have to say, the fight scenes kick ass. Thats why I like the Guyver so much.
i seen this movie since i was like 10, and i watched it no joke 100 times and will contiue to watch it another 100 :) great movie for its time
For a supposed Low Budget movie this film had some damn good choreography and special effects
man i remember renting this movie on vhs frm blockbuster wen i was younger. Great to see it again.
Damn, by choreography and martial arts this is one of best fights i ever watch in movies.
i love this movie!!!
That franchise deserve a remake IT was my favourite movie with the first one when i was child. ;)
A remake and a ps4 game dude
awsome fight and great film i hope they make a 3rd
I still have this movie guyver the movie 1 & 2.
First movie I watched on VHS. And the first sci-fi movie with so much violence. This movie may be low budget and old but it is still one of the better movies IMHO.
solid snake is guyver...soo cool...this movie was not so bad, it had a really cool fight sequence, and for its time it was awesome!!!
This fight is so amazing,it's brilliant how they mixed the Guyver unit with a Zoanoid to make such a cool bad guy
the move at 2:28 was the signature move that i thought of in my childhood whenever i 4 got wat the film was called that move waz in my head 4 the reminder and that music was just epic would love 2 see how this movie would look with the technology in movies 2 day
To think that Bionicle brought me here so nearly twenty years ago. Damn I feel old now lmao. But this, THIS, would change my life forever and I wouldn't change that for the world. Okay, now I gotta say the thing...
GUYVAAAAAAAH!!!
They should make a re-make of this movie because it's awesome!!!
one of the best b movies ive seen so far 3 stars!!!
5:07 - "Sorry, Crane, this model has been recalled."
aweome fight choreography.
Very nice show....pity not much fans.
This is the type of movie they shld remake/continue.
One of coolest fight scenes
Totally. This movie's fight scenes are exactly what Power Rangers and even Kamen Rider would be like if they grew up a bit and BROUGHT THE PAIN!
The kick at 2:32, if hit on an innocent bystander, would boot them into another dimension!
Guyver unit's regeneration multiplied by Wolverines would equal almost instant healing in my mind
this is such a great film it really does the anime justice, the fight sequences in this movie are so ahead of its time.the choreography is so phenomenally good.
I.have loved this fuckin movie since I was a kid. The 90's was a great time to be young.
This fight is one of the best i've seen in movies, guyver rules! specially with solid snake's voice actor as the guyver :)
I love this movie so much back in the day, watched it I don't know how many times, even though it screws up the story in many ways, it was still a good movie to watch, definitely needs a badass reboot
Agree
great film :)
Cheesy as the dialoge can be in this movie I love the series. Big fan, I have all of the manga's to the very end of the series.
I still got the vhs tape I remember the days camping in my friends club house watching this it was awesome good ol times
This is one of my favorite movies.
Because it's a film made by Armor Hero fan, Steve Wang. He marketed it in the United States in pursuit of establishing a good fanbase that would enjoy good vs. evil fight films in the form of Armor Hero.

it's a move seen in kung fu movies, I believe most notable in the once upon a time in china series starring Jet Li, called the 'No Shadow Kick', though a dub actually called it the shadow kick
fuck yeah man guyver is the original and the best. thankyou. blast from the past. RIP Keith W Green
The Guyver Zoanoid is the best creation to ever come out of the U.S. Guyver series, to bad he doesn't show up in the anime or manga.
@BossDkiller one more thing, Steve Wang (mask and suit designer) is the productor and director for this movie and now, he is directing the kamen rider dragon knight series.
It was more of his shoulder then arm. It was when Crane forced his arm back around the 1:17 mark.
Cool movie
This movie was kicking ass. it was hot.
My favorite fight scene and bad guy theme music of all
the whole guyver movie should be redone with todays special effects and cgi. The story line is kick ass along with the guyver units.
i really wish they would make another guyver movie they kick ass
David Hayter ( who is none other than the great Solid Snake himself) is Guyver. Which means he already had the chops to be badass before his most badass character.
man this takes me back
Guyver: The Dark Hero
Epic music, great fight
I love this movie, David Hayter's awesome!
And the whole Guyver schiznit. :)
I thought that when Zoanoids merged with a guyver unit it would simply be armor, but that it was only when merged with humans was it so awesome.
This movie was my introduction to Guyver ^^
Your right that would have been amazing. Gregole, Vamore & the rate bat like zoanoid would look awesome with guyver units.
the guys who did the audio for this were the pioneers of autotune
after all these years i just notice that the fighting is like power rangers
wow. thanks for the clip. I loved this movie. Can't say the same for the frist Guyver movie though.
Anyway, just wanna comment. If the video quality were a lot poorer, i coulda sworn the Guyver Zoanoid silhouette look like a Predator(yautja).lol
the coreography in this movie was insane! ahead of its time, they should really remake the guyver movie and save the series!
Agree
Sadly I think it's been too long, I want it just as bad as any of us. Not too many out there care about it anymore
WHOA!! They got BOV's on their face! Freakin sweet.
The guyver in the movie is David Hayter. He doesnt play the voice, he is the dude.
great fighting for an old film.
koichi sakamoto, the only man that can make a fight scene force people to think they are watching power rangers:/ still love the movie though
Campy as the movie may have been, a hero rarely gets more badass than the Guyver.
Right in the Control Metal! Megasmasher Time!
Brings back good old memorys haha still better then some of the cg Shit todays
Mark Hamill would have been better as Guyver US than who they actually got to play him (Jack Armstrong was the guy, I do believe). However, I will say this about the first Guyver movie, it gave us one of the best movie lines in history, given when Hamill's character is told that some people will do anything to catch a fish, even tell a fish story:
"Well it ain't fish I smell, it's a rat!"
@vio2k5 this was the second guyver movie, the first one was called Muntronics in the uk and other places, But was called Guyver in america
Reminds me of the review for this movie, "It's Power Rangers with a R rating."

Pretty good FX for the day.
Makes me wonder:
Are they going to make a sequel??? Prequel??
What is funny in G2 is seeing the bad guy answer a page, and no one has cell phones. Funny stuff. reminds me of that parody of 24, when Jack has to find a pay phone to return a page & they have dialup
The most epic scene in the history of fight scenes
Tho is one of the best concepts ever the guyver is a badass idea wish there were more movies of a higher financing...btw lotta people don't know the guyver in the second movie is David hayter other wise known as the model and voice of David hayter
I'll give this movie some credit though... at least they tried their best to show the audience what will happen if the control metal of a guyver unit was ripped off...
because for one thing,it's directed by the guy who directs power rangers, next it does the little slow mo things that happens in power rangers, next their moves are somewhat close to power rangers..I do believe you get the point
I liked this guyver film better than the first. the fights were better in this one as you can clearly see.
While I loved this flick. It's just too bad that it took the entire film to actually see the use of the mega-smasher! I really wish the Guyver unit was utilized better than in this film. In no small part because the unit was so well realized. I mean, really, the throat slitting in the beginning was just perfect!
Without the control metal, a Guyver unit is nothing more than a parasite that will eat its host alive.
whole thing was great for its time(1994) and even now, until someone can revamp it and make it better. 2:58 is best part of the fight.
If anything ... the suit is so kick ass!
Before the Matrix, there was the Guyver movies!!!!
I have this movie on video it still is one of my favs up till today only a pitty i don't have the first 1... o well :3 atleast this one's alot better
ONE OF MY FAVOURITE MOVIES, why wont anybody remake it?
this is pretty decent fight choreography.
I love watching this movie back when I was a kid, though it was very violent and bloody fight movie. David Hayter as the guyver was awesome.
Actually, the Guyver was influence by Kamen Rider which I believe came just a couple of years before Super Sentai.
this film is one the best iv ever seen it still looks real to this day.
I was about to say, "Wtf dude use the Mega smasher!" Not bad for as old as this is.
今観てもカッコいい。
現代版でリメイクしてくれんかなー
日本のアニメも勿論世界に胸を張れるけど、特撮も凄いんだから
а постановка боев китайская)
@lilsnipe08 dude, if they made this movie and the first one again, it will make so much money now and gain the respect that it should of got the first time!!! I agree...they need to go on ahead and remake it again!!!
I can understand there being a transformation. That's a given. But does anyone else wonder where all the light comes from when the transformation take place?
Thats fucked up how the suit malfunctions and just melts your shit.
I'm suprised that such a great story , got such bad critic thoughts, as well as not so good movies.Although I have to say, the fight scenes kick ass. Thats why I like the Guyver so much.
At 2:44, Tommy did that exact same attack in the Power Rangers movie!
Steve Wang always does great work, although the only thing that bothered me about these Guyver suits is how small they looked.
i use to watch this movie everyday it was amazing if only the made a new version off it :O
