I can't believe all the people commenting about how Black Women should be proud of their natural hair. Who says Black Women aren't proud. Instead of judging and criticizing we should be focusing on how it makes the woman feel and the fact the a black woman's hair is sensitive. And its funny that the same folks saying that we need to be proud are the same people on Twitter and social media sites that criticize Blue Ivy for her natural. And another thing if putting weave in your hair makes you feel good then forget about what other people think. And if your doing your hair right nobody's going to know anyway.

***** i'm not white. i am a mixed mexican- indigenous, chinese, african, and french. so that means my hair is very complicated to manage and i find that i use products and methods such as the LOC method, use different oils, co-wash, i sometimes braid my hair in traditional mexican styles so i can go longer without washing it, etc. it is NOT easy to take care of my hair and its expensive and time consuming. its hip length (people ask if i'm wearing extensions, but i have never worn them), straight but with bend to it, thick, very coarse, frizzy during the drying process, tangles like crazy, can sometimes be dry. i dont blow dry or straighten my hair or get it dyed but hell yeah my hair is hype worthy! i think what looks ugly and strange is when young women and girls who HAVE THEIR OWN natural hair wear extensions/wigs/weaves (no matter what ethnicity) and it looks extra funny when they are wearing hair that looks like mine when their hair is actually naturally blonde and wispy &they dye it black w superlong extensions, or kinky textured that wear straight weave or when white girls have yellow bleach damaged hair thats like an inch long and dry and then try to wear healthy looking ash blonde extensions. i've been in stores or different places and black girls wearing a weave or white girls wearing extensions (that looks like my natural hair) trying to stare at my hair and give me dirty looks like wtf, you think i'm copying YOUR hairstyle? this is how it comes out of my follicles and most if not all of my female cousins who are in mexico have long gorgeous hair that they wear naturally, besides curling the ends for special occasions, and they don't dye it either. your natural hair texture and color will always be what looks best on you. it does look pretty when black girls wear wigs or whatever that looks like their own natural hair but longer tho. and of course people going through chemo and alopecia have legitimate reasons for wearing wigs,etc. also, i have a question that i hope many of you (especially wig/weave/extension wearers will answer: would you care if the man you were dating wore a toupee?

I agree..you've made the most profound statement so far!!! I'm an advocate for higher education, common sense and motherwit! We don't know why a person desires to wear weave, wigs, clip in hair, etc. I became ill and all my very long and healthy hair came out. I began to wear wigs until my hair grew to a length I felt comfortable wear out natural. (again...my choice)
I'm out of work and I've been wearing my natural hair in twist outs and other styles. It has been quite the 'Journey" to care for my (4bc) hair and daily maintenance is a lot of work. the cost of the products to care for it has been pricey. I LOVE my natural thick shoulder length hair as it is now. BUT
I will be returning to "corporate America" and I will be changing the way I wear it. I don't care what the natural Nazis say or think...I have to pay my own bills...I'm going back ole school....Wash and Press (I don't care for braided styles...just my preference). I may even get some ALX to clip in my hair. LOL

I am natural and I rock my own hair, braids and wigs and weaves. You would have to be a weave queen to understand this. Just like sneaker or car fanatics, we have out weave fanatics. I can spot a weave from a mile away. Describe the inches and where it originated. It's just a hobby/interest. Nothing more than an accessory.

LOL Girl I really enjoyed the truth about ALX hair, the quality, and easy to manage hair extensions....I am going on your website to open up me an account as soon as I get paid at the end of this week. I've been growing natural for about 7 years now....one minute I'll let my natural hair grow down to my neck and then i cut it off....OMG! I've done that about 1 to 4 times in the last 7 years since I've been natural. I've been living in AZ for about 3 years now and honey I haven't found someone that really knows about weave or how to do hair extensions on my natural hair. I do not trust nobody in my hair, because I feel like the places I've been to get my hair done just wasn't what I was looking for especially when it comes to knowing good weave and how to do a sew in or glue in weave. I've always wanted to wear extensions to protect my natural hair, but finding good quality hair just wasn't popping out here for me like it should have been. But thanks to you I now can buy some beautiful and affordable hair extensions to wear over my natural hair! I can't wait to tell my friends and family about what i came across today and that was ALX! So, I thought they were talking about weave. My whole family wears their hair natural, but they also will wear weave when they WANT TO. I don't know about you, but if I were to spend money on weave I better be able to run my fingers through it, curly or not. Even curly and wooly hair (natural) when well kept can be worked through without much effort. That aside I'm all for natural hair and not being ashamed of it, but if you choose to spend money on weave (as with anything really) spend it wisely and opt for the best.
amen, being black and native American, I understand how it is to see the controversy in my own fam cause my mom's side I'd black Indian and European, but my dad's Sid is only black and my dad's side has kinky, nappy hair, and my mom's side has soft long curly hair , and I'm caught in between, but one thing I do know, is that as an African American Man, I've never seen any of the women in my family ever, ever wearing weaves, on my mom's side our women have long silky hair so they don't need it any way, and on my dad's side, they in race their thick kinky hair, and if it's short they rock it and embrace there natural beauty. I've been wearing my hair exactly like Halle Berry's for ten years. If black women hate their hair, can't they just wear a cute short cut and do whatever she does to make it manageable? She obviously just uses a product to tame it. I don't know, I just think they look like assholes trying to have "white" hair. Especially the blondes and redheads, bit I think that's just the ratchet chicks. Plus Tommy Sotomayor says their heads always wreak and they have to slap their heads to itch them. +Tzu Keeper I totally agree...i just cut all of the relaxer off last week...my hair was long...but what i did was cut it off in stages into different short cuts until i was comfortable cutting my hair completely off...and i love it!!!...and it is a lot more manageble than relaxed hair....even when it is short

People in the comments need to calm down... I'm not black (not exactly white either) but I love wigs! I don't actually wear them out lol, just at home for dress up with my kids. But you know what? My Asian friends wear hair extensions too and so many people color their hair... they are still Asian. You are still who you are with or without a weave on and it shouldn't matter how you wear your hair. Some people aren't happy with the hair they've been given. I don't have "nappy" hair but I hate my hair, too. I get it straightened cz it's easier and I prefer the way I look... I'm not being untrue to myself. I just feel better about myself (plus it's easier!) and that is what matters. If natural does not fit your face or the quality of your hair is bad, then thank God we live at a time when we have so many options to fix that. Stop making everything about race... women of every color from all over the world hate their natural hair. lol Many of us were not born with naturally beautiful and controllable hair- whether you are black, white, Asian, have curly, straight, wavy, thick, or thin hair... so many of us have issues with it. well daneisha is right. but i just dislike companies that mislead people thinkin theres such a thing. actually theres a documentary of it. a girl went to malaysia to find it. realised its just a marketing gimmick that was extremely successful. people like the exotic ring to it.
