If we’re taking chinese threat seriously then we need to provide extra funds to navy other than defence budget. Where will the money come from? Its simple its the freebies
Well we can't. The central government has to still fund state freebies because if they don't the state government might collapse under debt and the people might riot. Plus we already give the armed forces 3% of our GDP as defence, which is the maximum for a growing economy. Any more and we will have to dis invest in other fields which suprise suprise start a riot. A democracy cannot compete with an absolute dictatorship unless it goes the American way and give defence companies rampant access to genius minds - which we don't have because reservation.

We can't afford luxury in time spoil in of SINGLE OR DOUBLE vender situation. Go for Govt to Govt offer for immediate procurement of German Type 212 Submarines like French Rafale fighter planes.
Let the S 80 prove their AIP in due course. By that time, it may be possible that our own AIP will be a proved system at Kalvari class refit & in our own new Submarine design.

Absolutely right. Our enemy always tried to scuttle or make delay of our most important defence projects specially using our own people. At times it was seen with every major & most potent weapon procurement projects. Every time a scam has been surfaced up during most crucial phase, Blacklisting of supplying companies & ultimately destroy the procurement or stopped prematurely.
It happens with German HDW Type209 (Sishumar class submarine).Due to scam its contract with HDW was terminated after production of four submarines only. All the trained work force & costly setup was let spoiled with time since 1980's. Same with Black Shark Torpedo which was to be procured as main weapon of our newly produced Scorpen/Kalvary class Submarine. It may be a very large list !It looks like the internal traitors create scams at the behest of enemy to inflect damage to our defence as much as possible.

I really want to be as somehow there are always 2 things that come to mind. First of all, it looks like we are still looking at our own products as they are substandard. Second is there are forces at large, be it within the armed forces or political, that are trying to hold India back from progress & and self-reliance, as we hesitate to use our own technology under the pretext that it is not proven.

Are we going to delay such strategic project just because there is one vendor situation?!!! Govt of India can decide on Gov to Gov basis as well or even otherwise, we know our budget and we should go by that. IF required, SC can be taken into confidence in advance so that unnecessary objections that can be raised later can be nipped in the bud.
India should start Scorpion with DRDO AIP by July2024
I think this decision is more of a political, to avoid further controversies. It's gonna give a huge blow to our modernisation program.

@@Vikasptl07 Dum Dums that is exactly the point. DRDO AIP is ready for installation. It has completed all lab testing and it has good performance. Initial 2 P75I can be inducted with DRDO AIP. Waiting another couple of years for Spanish AIP to prove itself competely defeats the purpose of P75I program.

As usual the DRDO's Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) project has faced delays.

The delay in DRDO's AIP project thus places India at a strategic disadvantage compared to its regional adversaries, who have had these advanced capabilities for decades.
Did you listen to the video properly? DRDO AIP is ready for Kalvari class submarines and German AIP is also ready for Project 75i submarines. The news of Spanish AIP delayed is just speculation with no proof or confirmation. You Pakistanis are fully brainwashed.
