Jill is right on with her portrayal of opiate withdrawal. Being a recovering opiate addict myself, she’s got it right on the nose. Not overly dramatic, very true portrayal.

Jill everyone warned you about Seneca.

Both of these people are to be pitied. I think Seneca is honestly trying to help Jillian with her addiction -- but just because he is a surgeon doesn't mean he is a qualified substance abuse counselor. He's trying to do the best thing he can for her, but he's not equipped. They are a tragic couple in my opinion.

I agree, Karla. Seneca, is doing everything he is qualified to do. This was filmed in '79, which I believe is well before the creation of the "Betty Ford Center". Seneca, loves and cares about Jillian.
In this situation, Jillian needs a hard arse to see her through detox.

@@feistyjerseygirlright, but my point was that he wasn't qualified to be one, even if they had them back then. But he was giving it his best to help her. He definitely had some major character flaws but I think deep down, he was a caring person. :)

If this were today im convinced she would have been weened to much chance of convulsions or seisures erratic blood pressure panic attacks agression i cant believe it was like this back then but i have to because this show is usually spot on medically

Exactly right !! I think they would of done some weening or at least supporting her with anti convulsion medication, anti nausea meds , She should be ona Iv to keep hydrated. This whole situation at home cold turkey is nuts !!! And her sister and brother, both Drs don’t get it .
Totally unrealistic . I lived through the 1970s... had 2 children... saw plenty of medical situations... this is not realistic ... in my opinion.
