So lovely, Johanna! Here's a tip: Save thread by lifting the foot and needle, turning your work and putting the needle and foot back in on the next line and work your way around without having to cut thread til you've finished. I do this all the time, so handy and saves time too. You can also use pinking shears for a scalloped type edge. I love the embossing, so pretty :)
Dear Johanna, thank you for being such a real person that doesn't sound like a perfectionist. Your voice delivery is pleasant and you do not drag on. These videos are most assuredly time consuming and with a child a bit of sacrifice on your part. You have me quite intrigued to try a bit of simple bookbinding. Enjoy your channel!
Love this idea! My grandfather came from Italy and opened a tailor shop. A very long time ago. Mom was a seamstress and I've been sewing from a very young age, (60 now) . My aunt made the most gorgeous crazy quilts. Needless to say, What a great idea. I found myself saying, pick that one, lol. Thanks for sharing!
Johanna, what an inspiring way to update a timeless craft idea! Marrying paper and fabric into quilting brings together the best of those two worlds! You have opened a new window for me to rethink crafting processes for fabric and textiles, thank you! 😊
I've seen these made before, but never to the point where you used paper and fabric or put the whole thing through the embossing folder! Absolutely beautiful!!! Thanks so much for the tutorial!!
I absolutely LOVE this!!!!!! I thought about the concept but when I tried it, my rows were crooked and it just looked messy. But I made the mistake of not following a guide (you used the edge of the card to start and I don't know WHY it didn't occur to me to do that or just draw a line to follow) and it was a lot of work for something that wasn't worth the effort. Putting it through the embosser is GENIUS!!!! I am going to try this again because you really made it look much less complicated than it was when I did it. Thank you. I knew it could work, I just needed someone to do it successfully for me to have enough faith to try again. Beautiful job!!!!!
I live this idea! I bought a hand full of fabric over the past few weeks wanting to do a journal cover like this, but I was kinda lost on how to complete it. You have made it soo much easier!! Thank you Love. Then you say we can have it!! Thank you sooo much!!! Soo very sweet n kind of you!!
I'm so glad 💟 I found your channel. You've affected my creativity with the greatest impact! Incorporating your ideas has calmed me down and brought joy back instead anxiety. Thank you, so so much!!!!
Using a rotary cutter with cutting Matt would be much easier to cut those squares and they would be perfectly cut squares much faster. You can also put fusible heat and bond on the back side of the fabric before cutting the material and simply iron the pieces once they are all in place. Exact same look with a quarter of the time needed to assemble. I love the idea. Thanks
This video is just wonderful in all ways. I love love love this. You are genuine, real, and humble. You are so talented, and I admire the fact that no matter how popular you are, your integrity remains a constant.
The tip about color wheel is si useful for me,never know exactly how combine colors, and as I'm quite older than you didn't learn it at school, but my kids did, so I'm going and look for their color wheels. Thank U!♥️
Thankyou sincerely for the excellent tutorial and download Johanna. I've always loved anything with a quilted and patchwork look so absolutely adore your cards. The stitching, edging and embossing finish them off beautifully. We just returned from a stay in a vintage hotel for our 40th wedding anniversary and this printable will work perfectly when I journal the event :)
Thank you for this idea! I tried making my own and pretty happy with how they've turned out. Thanks for the inspiration! Great way to use up scrap papers too
Johanna, thank you so much for this tutorial! I have many of your printables, and am always watching especially for more of your beautiful linens. I am excited to have this great 6x4 quilted card, too. Looking forward to the Feb. zine in a few days!
Thank you SO very much for offering the FREE printable. I've purchased all of your printables and your January Zine at your Etsy shop with the exception of the Christmas ones - which who am I kidding - I'lll definitely be purchasing those soon as well even if I won't be able to use them until later this year. :) Your work is beautiful, and I appreciate you sharing your talents. Congratulations on your new baby girl, Rue. Take care!
Yay! Another brilliant and inspiring idea! I love the finishing touch with the embossing...really takes it to another level. Thank you so much for the endless creative inspiration. Hope you and your family are doing well. xoxo- gina

I spent a Saturday afternoon making these and they turned out wonderfully. You make it look so easy - they took some time to make but totally worth it! You definitely have a talent to mix the square patterns and colors. I have used a few and gifted a few but have a hard time parting with them as I love them so much. Thank you for sharing your technique and tips.
Novel idea, such a smart way to use fabric scraps! I am also a fan of zig zag stitching, my only problem is I can't use a sewing machine. Has been on my to-do list though. Thanks for the fabric crafting idea! 👏👍😊
What a great idea! You made me think of other ways I can use some of my scrape material. For one I have a gift box template, and this would turn a plain box into a pretty gift box. I look forward to watching more of your videos and hello from Queensland Australia.
