The game is a clear step up already from DS3 plus its an open world game which we know suffers in the graphics department usually. Minor shadows and light bouncing is hardly worth an update.
indeed, the game tech recently focusing on texture, and lighting, so maybe hope next will back to physx, real time simulation such fluid or ncloth. man when you said about Bl2 physx, it make me miss that tech so much.
Have the same 5600x 3070 set up, glad to see us getting around the same frames. I cranked everyhting max since its capped at 60 anyway and it still brought my FPS down to around 30-40 and after some fine tuning I got it up to around 55ish stable but it still isnt 60 capped with it on. I do wish you showed off more of the underworld though.
@LowGodd Heya mate, just wondering what do you get at max settings ray tracing on but at 4k? I was testing and did a test before updating bios and after and wrote I was getting 50fps before bios update and then 35 after for max setting ray tracing at 4k but I think it's coz the original 50 FPS I wrote down was actually for 1440p rather than 4k. I'm just hoping it wrote it down wrong and the 50fs I wrote down was for 1440p and not 4k otherwise the bios update lost me a ton of performance. If you get a chance do you mind testing at 4k with ray tracing on at max settings and let me know what you get? I have a gigabyte gaming 0C card so if you happen to have the exact same card that would be awesome coz it would be a near 1 to 1 match but even if you have another version of the 3070 (which in all likelihood you probably do) would you be so kind as to have a look?
I mean it runs pretty well without ray tracing? And tbh still images isn't the best way to compare rtx on vs off at least depending on the angle. The modern fake reflections are actually fairly accurate outside of a few very common circumstances. Examples like the object that should be in reflection is off of screen and as such doesn't reflect. So with the angle bis camera is at it makes sense you wouldn't see much of a difference, but once you start moving or look more up/ downwards then the difference will be much more significant.
@@kingderpington6082A magic things is they used reflection probes in the old games like 2013 ones. If you looked at reflection and object was not rendered it still reflected. Now they are just lazy
My specs are RTX 3070 I7 8700k 32GB RAM And gotta say, HARD PASS. This game is just one of those games where it’s insufferable when it doesn’t run at 60.

Thanks for this, I'm running W10 with a 3070Ti and an I7-12700H, very similar spec but I get ~20FPS, even in low settings ... driving me crazy ... starting to think I need a clean install on Windows!
I just found out my game was constantly crashing on loading a save because for some reason it automatically turned on rtx on my 3080 and was making me crash.
How does it run at 4k? I have basically the same setup and i juat uofated the bios. Im getting around 35/40 frames with RT on medium. Thing is yesyerday i was playing it before the bios uodatetfor the gpu and was getting about 50 but i csnt recall if i tested it on 1440p or 4k yesterday. Im hoping when i got around 50 it was on 1440p and the bios update didnt cause my to lose a bunch of performance but I can't remember. Would you be so kind as to let me know as we have basically the same setup
Wow not enough difference to justify the fps loss. Running a RX6800xt Ryzen7 5800x, i can run the game at max settings 3440x1440p (black bars cuz it doesnt support UW) and it can cap at 60 but when i turn on RT at max it drops to 20fps in an open valley, 50fps in a cave, but i cant tell the difference between On/off.
Yea I do agree that for most PC and consoles that its not worth it being on. I wouldnt even attempt it with anything lower than an I7 or Ryzen 7 and a 3070 GPU. Personally I can put ray tracing on high and all the other graphics set to high or maximum and still get a solid 60 FPS. However I have a Ryzen 9 and a 4070 GPU. The GPU definitely runs hotter with it on though. But in general definitely not worth using a majority of the time. Edit: So people with the 4000 series GPUs can probably still get good performance with it on.
Lmao this is a joke. There is nothing next gen in ray tracing. I don't care if its more accurate if difference is so minor. Softer shadows on distance existed in the past for minor performance cost. It was called nvidia PCSS and somehow nobody talked about it even tho its amazing technology which does what rtx shadow does.
tbh it kind of makes things feel darker in general, also made the elden ring stuttering issues more apparent
If you want darker, just turn down the brightness.
Just like ray tracing in Witcher 3, definetly not worth the fps drops imo
Oh a 4080 it's definitely worth it in Witcher 3, huge difference visually, but yeah also huge difference in performance, but worth it on fast GPU's.
@@oropher1234 "Huge difference"
One of the better comparisons. Definitely very subtle.
It just makes things dark? The reflections in the water do not change and the lighting looks the exact same
I'd rather have physx effects like Bl2 than whatever intangible difference RT made
Yeah. I agree. It's worth it.
It was just the shadows that made the difference.

Is it not possible to add dlss or why have they not added that?
Exactly the same specs as me, great video!

this is one of those ps5 GTAV deals where you have to play Where’s Waldo with the raytracing
I just love how they wasted resources (and time) for a shitty raytracing that just makes the game run even worse than it already ran without it

The amount of Ray tracing added is so minimal it’s pretty much unnoticeable. Not worth the 12 frame drop.

Thanks, this confirms it's not playable on my 3070 with rtx on. No need for me to try and tune settings
I just found out my game was constantly crashing on loading a save because for some reason it automatically turned on rtx on my 3080 and was making me crash.
With DLSS it might have actually been playable at a constant 60 fps.
it's not, I have a 3080 and the game drops to the 30's with ray tracing
not worth it it just adds some AO to grass and debris sprites
So worth it, the scene just looks alright with RT. Without, everything is so bland. If you can tank the drops, definitely turn it on.
