My dads in the Australian defence force, he’s in the navy and he’s been all over the place for work including countries that are war zones! This kinda broke my heart because I remember being a little girl and the day my dad got deployed for 9 months I couldn’t stop crying neither could my little sister. So this hits home for me! I’ve actually got a story where my mum was on the phone to my dad while he was in Afghanistan and their alarm went off cause someone was trying to bomb them so he had to quickly hang up and jump on the ground and we didn’t hear from him for hours! So when we finally did it was a definite relief! But yeah defence families go through a lot, my dad definitely missed a lot of my sister and I growing up due to being deployed that’s kinda why these pranks in particular break my heart... cause I know. I just know. 😭😥

This must be how every military wife feels, wondering if their husbands are even going to come back alive. It makes me support the troops even more, they give their lives so we don't have to.
The army would accept him in a heartbeat. He has the physique for.
Physique is one of the furthest things in their head when they are looking to take in new recruits. Seen so many fit and muscular men get thrown away for scrawny/fat guys even though those fit guys obviously dominated in physical performance.
Mind and Discipline are what they are looking for, because of course, your muscles mean nothing if you give up instantly the second you feel like you can't finish a mission.
They'd quicker take the fat guy who takes two hours to run ten laps, can barely make it but still pushes himself to the very end as opposed to the fit guy who does it in twenty minutes but gives up at the slightest mental pressure.

Don't know what military is like over there but over here if you are overweight or simply don't reach the physical standard for the military, you are not allowed to do any field work.
They mostly work as chefs or basically anything that that doesn't involve fighting or moving from the base(They are still trained to fight if anything were to happen though).

Other than the Scandinavian armies, I've really only seen a small part of the German one but a few ex colleagues and friends of mine have met and worked with the US.

my boyfriend is currently in the navy on a 5 year contract, and i literally felt her pain when she cried. listening to someone you love talk about how they are leaving for a long time is heartbreaking, but i’m glad she doesn’t actually have to go through the distance 😂

@@rizwanx7482 i wouldn't say culture, since the military actually has punishment for adultery. but i would say that cheating is much more common, even more common than in a regular long distance relationship. i mean, you have men or women who go out on deployments and may feel or get lonely while being away from their SO's for months, and also may have a fear in the back of their mind that they won't come back. so, they cheat. this is especially true if you have arguments on the phone about bills, kids, or other things, and the sailor/soldier/marine doesn't feel supported in the relationship or just feel lonely (this can also be true the other way around, but more often from military personnel since they are already far away from home and in a new environment). on the other side, you have a man or woman back at home who gets bored or annoyed or lonely after being out of contact with their spouse or SO for months, and are surrounded by many women/men. their lonliness clouds their judgement, and they cheat. there isn't an excuse for cheating obviously, and me and my partner are completely loyal to each other, but i feel as if it is so much more common because there is so much less contact with SO's in military relationships compared to regular long distance.
