216. dzień wojny. Pluton wybiera się na zwiad, chcą pokręcić się w pobliżu granicy z Rosją.
The 216th day of the war. The platoon is on a scout mission. The Swedes want to wander at the Russian border.
Mają też zamiar pojechać w miejsce, gdzie zginął Szerman. W bazie zostają tylko Mołnia, Kulek i Funt. Festiwal na przepustce z żoną. Wasyl w szpitalu.
Dwa dni wcześniej szef Szwedów Kep wrócił z 3-dniowego urlopu w Kijowie. Urodził mu się syn Michaił.
They also intend to visit the place where Sherman was killed. Only Molnya, Kulek and Pound. Festival is on a pass with his wife. Vasyl is in hospital.
Two days before Cap, the boss of the Swedes, returned from a three-day leave in Kyiv. His son Mikhail had been born.
„Jakbym był na innej planecie. Żona powiedziała, że nie przystosowałem się przez te 3 dni. Może szkoda, ale tu czuję się jak w domu. A chciałbym, żeby było na odwrót. Nie rozumiem już przyjaciół, którzy tam mieszkają. Jest jakaś przepaść.
Wracam tu, gdzie wszyscy chłopcy mają te same co ja poglądy i myśli. Są szczęśliwi, cieszą się, że już wróciłem. Lans przybiega i mówi: tak się cieszę, że jesteś, witaj Kepczik. Znajomi z Kijowa zapewniają, że są z nas dumni, że trzymają za nas kciuki. Dobrze, dziękujemy. Ale to są moje kciuki. To mnie trzyma”.
„I felt like on a different planet. My wife said I hadn’t fit it in those three days. Maybe it’s a pity but here I feel at home. And I’d like it to be the other way round. I no longer understand my friends who live there. There’s a gap between us.

Lans comes running and says: “I’m so glad you’re here, welcome Captchik. Friends in Kyiv assure they are proud of us and keep their fingers crossed. Well thanks, but these are my fingers. It makes me hang on”.
Kep zbiera pluton w miejscu, gdzie zginął Szerman. Prosi o zdjęcie hełmów. Zaczyna mówić o poległym i głos mu się łamie. Mija kilka minut zanim zapanuje nad wzruszeniem.
„Czy straciłem jedynego dowódcę, z którym chciałbym walczyć? Chcę walczyć dalej. Tak. Zemścić się. Ukarać kacapów. Ale do tej pory nie mogę znaleźć takiego szefa, za którym chciałbym pójść”.
Szwedy długo stoją w miejscu, gdzie stracili dowódcę kompanii. Czuje się podniosłość tej chwili.
W drodze powrotnej Mors ratuje koziołka, którego znajdujemy w zburzonym do połowy domu. Cieszy się na nasz widok. Biegnie za Morsem jak pies i pobekuje wesoło jak kozioł. Pojedzie do schroniska w Charkowie. Trzeba tu będzie jeszcze wrócić po inne kozy.
Cap is gathering the platoon at the spot where Sherman died. He asks his men to take off their helmets. He starts a speech about the dead commander but his voice starts to break. After a few minutes he finally regains control of his emotions.
„Have I lost the only commander I would like to fight along? I want to keep fighting. Yes. Take revenge. Punish the Russkis. But so far I cannot find a boss I would like to follow”.
The Swedes keep standing where the company commander was killed. We can feel the solemnity of the occasion.
On the way back Walrus rescues a billy goat we found in the debris of a house. It is happy to see us. It is following Walrus like a dog and bleats cheerfully like a goat. He will go to a shelter in Kharkiv. They will have to come back for the other goats.

Thank you for this glimpse into the real life of soldiers in Ukraine. It's not just the battles they have to fight and survive but how they manage through the times after the battles and how they look after each other. You can see that they are real people. Not perfect in every way. Not perfect about how they present themselves. I am so amazed about how they present themselves and how close to movie-perfect characters they are for being real life.

There is a unique bond we get because we faced the same he'll together and came out the otherside. Some of the guys I might not see for 10 years. But when I do see them nothing has changed. Well, we might cry more telling some stories compared to when we were younger. Oh well, I miss them all and I am grateful I still get to talk to some of them.

The patience they show to the lady who is clearly traumatised by what has gone on around her is very compassionate. The destruction of houses for the shear hell of it is the Russian signature of this war and Putin will never pay for it. I hope that the survivors are able to rebuild and live in peace soon. Good luck to Ukraine, its citizens and its soldiers.

These men are Reserve Territorial Defense, LOOK how well armed, dressed & protected and outfitted they are compared to the Russian DEAD and POWs we see! The difference between NIGHT and DAY especially when you realize that these men are NOT the Regular Ukrainian Army!

Okay, goats normally freak me out. But when the soldier said that "they look right into your eyes" and then one helped a goat from down the stairs to come for a muzzle rub - that was so sweet and endearing to me. AFU - you are definitely not an average male. You all have something so special within you and evil doesn't want the world to see or feel it. TOO LATE! The world has come to know and love all of Ukraine! The secret is out, Ukraine is the most fertile land on earth. Rich with minerals, nutrients and most importantly LOVE! (Sorry so sappy, lol. Darn goat got me feeling all warm inside ;P )

I was trained shooting at a Russian Shilouettes in my early years in the US Army as an infantryman to fight against the Russians.
